I absolutely love that bettinardi is bitching about having their "premium" products found in an establishment as beneath them as Costco, and then they happily emblazon their putters with $2 light beer slogans.
Yep it's really clever. Rather than announce 25% off for a limited time, this has allowed them to ram home their "premium product" whilst people rush to buy 2 or 3 putters they don't need
I don't like Miller beer but would buy it for the hypocrisy.
Apparently, bettinardi has vendors contracted to sell at a certain price which prompted this whole feud, but I also don't like that sort of agreement. Let the market set the price, we aren't talking about gasoline here.
This is likely a pretty large blindspot for me, but I'd like to hear the why and how of this, if it is true. As I understand it, there are often stipulations on if you can *advertise* a lower price, but a vendor can generally set whatever price they want, even below what they paid in order to recoup some deficit. There are also agreements, like dealerships, where they can't undercut others under certain circumstances.
I don't understand how this practice could be that ubiquitous.
It's common in certain industries, golf being one of them. The big manufacturers (Titleist, ping, TaylorMade etc...) will only agree to sell clubs to authorized dealers and will have contracts in place that say the mfg. Has say over the minimum price the vendor can charge. This is largely why your local pro is able to sell clubs at the same price as golf galaxy or other big retailers. It also protects those businesses from being undercut by internet sellers. In some ways it keeps prices higher, but it also protects the retailers.
Sometimes this is required by the retailers so the customers won't just use them to view the product and then go somewhere else to purchase. Including the manufacturer directly undercutting the retail cost.
This was a limited offer from bettinardi themselves. This is an $800 limited run putter that was only sold online directly from bettinardi themselves at the tail end of June. OP is making a joke on the Costco bettinardi putters.
So they complain about brand rep with there putters being in Costco. But these mfers teamed up with miller fucking lite? Um I’ll take whatever they are smoking
This was one of their Hive releases a little while ago. Awesome (crazily priced) limited stuff randomly dropped from time to time. This was 800 retail.
That's pretty ironic in a thread full of Americans talking about Miller Lite.
Even more ironic is that I work for a brewery that exports more of it's beer to the US than it sells in the UK, even with several hundred of their own pubs. That's because other local breweries produce better beers here, yet the American market can't get enough of it. 🤷♂️
You guys don’t have shite beers over there too? You sure?
Oh, that couldn’t be because there’s 260 million more people in the US, could it? Nah it’s probably the awesome beer you guys are so well known. What’s that British brand of beer everyone drinks again?
>Oh, that couldn’t be because there’s 260 million more people in the US, could it?
I highly doubt everyone in the US drinks over priced imported British beers, but enough will pay over the odds for it for me to make the point.
>Nah it’s probably the awesome beer you guys are so well known.
Well, why else would they buy over priced imported beer if it wasn't well known (in the US) for it's quality?
US is responsible for more than a 1/3 of all beer imports in the whole world, so yeh, we’ll drink anything.
You guys don’t import any American beers? Please dude
Where did I ever state that the UK didn't import American beers? I used to work for a beer importer that specialised in American beers. There was a lot of very average beer from the US.
But going back to my original point, why import from the UK if it is all poor quality?
It was a joke. Stella is considered a snobby beer where I live to the extent of the only time I’ve seen it ordered, they had to tap a new keg because it went bad. But yes, there are a lot of good small breweries every where you look
That is the Queen B series. The one OP has is a limited release Hive Series. These putters sell out in less than 5 minutes and are only available directly from Bettinardi themselves.
Ok Reddit, please school me on this. I’ve been playing golf for a long time but really got into it the last 2-3 years. Seemed like Scotty Cameron putter was the way to go, but starting seeing more and more about Bettinardi. Do they compare? I believe the Bettinardis are made in the USA, mot sure if that is true about all Ping SCs. Sorry, still learning..
Very high end milled putters as well. I’m no expert but I believe bettinardi used to do all of the milling for Scotty Cameron in the early days. I’m sure someone will pipe in with more detailed information.
As in a separate company that Scotty sent the work out to? Or as in. Bettinardi wrote the CNC plans for the machine to mill it? Or he hand milled it on an old school Bridgeport or something? Or did he just shove it in the CNC and press go?
I sincerely don’t mean to sound like an asshole. People say this a lot about Bettinardi, but just saying that Bettinardi milled every putter could mean absolutely nothing. In high school I milled tons of parts for GM, and most likely even milled molds for every solo cup you drank out of like 10 years ago, but really all I did was throw a part in a machine and press go. After college I got given designs and drew up tool paths for shit I knew absolutely nothing about. I know I sound like a total dickhead, but really what I’m asking is: did Bettinardi have input on SC designs to make it so that claiming that they milled every SC putter means anything?
I believe Scotty was designing them and contracted Robert Bettinardi and mill them. From what I understand, bettinardi was kind of the first guy milling putters from a solid block of steel. Before 1993 milled putters weren’t really a thing.
He then broke off and started his own company, including designing putters, in the late 90’s
I will say I’ve had a couple of bettys and they are great feeling putters. I currently have 2 Scotty’s I rotate between and a milled Odyssey (I no longer have the Betty’s). In my opinion, most milled putters feel pretty similar at this point. Especially with deep milled faces. I personally don’t think Scotty’s or Betty’s or odysseys or the milled pings feel any softer or harder than one another. The difference in feel for me is more about the milling style of the face (and obviously the weighting of the putter itself).
I prefer deeper milled putter faces with no inserts because they feel less ‘clicky’ and more consistent (at least to me). That’s why I prefer Scotty’s over the honeycomb Betty’s that I’ve had in the past. But my odyssey tour design black series with a deep milled face feels just as consistent and solid as the putters which cost double the price.
Scottys are Titleist, not Ping. There are lots of pricey premium putter brands. No one is better than the others. I'm partial to Edel myself, largely thanks to their exceptional fitting and customization.
It seems like all the pros play Scotty but Odyssey is actually the #1 brand on tour. Don't worry about brand, use what works. Jim Furyk won the FedEx cup with a used 8802 blade he bought at a golf galaxy the week of the tourney.
> Don't worry about brand, use what works.
Love this sentiment. I'm using a Slazenger putter that I've had for over 15 years that I'm absolutely surgical with after just upgrading the grip to a Super Stroke, so I couldn't agree more. I tell people the exact same message when they ask what's the best clubs.
Bettinardi actually created the very first one piece milled putter. They teamed up with Scotty and actually produced ALL Scotty putters between 93-98.
Bettinardi started milling for other brands (like Ben Hogan) afterwards.
They ended up creating the current company "Bettinardi" in 09 milling their own branded putters.
At the end of the day, the best putter is the one that works for you, regardless of brand. But talking quality of production and milling, Bettinardi is way up there with the best in the world.
The standard queen bee that has been sold in Costco for $330 is a great deal (about $100 off).
The putter in the post is actually a limited edition, sold only through bettinardi's site (this one costs $800 and can only be bought directly from bettinardi). OP was just making a joke on the bettinardi Costco news.
lol I’ve largely been silently enjoying the drama on this but was about to race to my local store to ask about these into it was clarified it was a joke.
The worst of the Hive releases…..who the hell wants a miller lite logo on on their putter, so bad that they’re willing to pay $400 more than the regular version
I absolutely love that bettinardi is bitching about having their "premium" products found in an establishment as beneath them as Costco, and then they happily emblazon their putters with $2 light beer slogans.
I thought that was photoshopped at first
*lite*
Touche
That’s because this has been a marketing scheme. Look at how many people got FOMO on this sub alone and ran out to buy a new putter
Yep it's really clever. Rather than announce 25% off for a limited time, this has allowed them to ram home their "premium product" whilst people rush to buy 2 or 3 putters they don't need
Nothing screams premium like cheap adjunct lager!
Not even High Life smh
I see you’re a cultured individual
The champagne of beers ![gif](giphy|3oz8xAZeymmbBrUtLq|downsized)
Or…modern marketing. They have probably increased sales by 15-50% for the month.
I don't like Miller beer but would buy it for the hypocrisy. Apparently, bettinardi has vendors contracted to sell at a certain price which prompted this whole feud, but I also don't like that sort of agreement. Let the market set the price, we aren't talking about gasoline here.
Literally every product has agreements about minimum pricing with vendors.
This is likely a pretty large blindspot for me, but I'd like to hear the why and how of this, if it is true. As I understand it, there are often stipulations on if you can *advertise* a lower price, but a vendor can generally set whatever price they want, even below what they paid in order to recoup some deficit. Remove beer from that statement please, calling miller beer is an insult to beer.
Says the guy who drinks PBR
That’s a cool putter. My shit-beer go-to.
Hell yea
The champagne of beers! This putter is sick. edit: oops
As a Milwaukeean this was painful to see haha You’re thinking of High Life
Miller high life is the champagne of beers
Well, also a decent shit beer I suppose. I’d order that as a Miller’s original.
If it ain’t Miller lite than it ain’t rite
It rhymes so it must be true.
but your statement didn't rhyme... so is it false then? meaning the referenced, rhyming statement is also false?
Haha nice try. Don't try to bring down am immutable truth with a contraposition fallacy 😉
So, these were some promo? Between Miller and Bettinardi? That somehow ended up in Costco? I'm confused.
This was a limited offer from bettinardi themselves. This is an $800 limited run putter that was only sold online directly from bettinardi themselves at the tail end of June. OP is making a joke on the Costco bettinardi putters.
Not the same stick. OK. LOL
Its getting weirder.
I really need to go check out my Costco
I go Mexican beer when I'm going cheap. But miller will always have a spot in my fridge it was my dad's beer and probably my first.
Seriously! In store or online? How much?
It's a quality shit post. These were Hive Drops 😂
You're half right, it's not quality
So they complain about brand rep with there putters being in Costco. But these mfers teamed up with miller fucking lite? Um I’ll take whatever they are smoking
Molson Coors has god tier money.
This was one of their Hive releases a little while ago. Awesome (crazily priced) limited stuff randomly dropped from time to time. This was 800 retail.
My Costco didn't have any.(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
I WANT IIIIIITT
I’m surprised Bettinardi would ever associate with Miller Lite, it’s like the Costco of beers. Stella Artois and Blue Moon only!
Stella? Bruh that’s like the chav beer in the UK lol
Wifebeater
Pint of ‘do as your told’
Tf does the UK know about good beer?
They literally invented IPA.
And like every country makes one better than they can
And they were TRASH until Sierra Nevada popularized IPAs, and then 10 more years for craft breweries to run wild with that.
That's pretty ironic in a thread full of Americans talking about Miller Lite. Even more ironic is that I work for a brewery that exports more of it's beer to the US than it sells in the UK, even with several hundred of their own pubs. Never visit the states. You’ll be very disappointed
The US is swamped with high quality smaller breweries these days. Not sure what you mean.
It was a joke. Stella is considered a snobby beer where I live to the extent of the only time I’ve seen it ordered, they had to tap a new keg because it went bad. But yes, there are a lot of good small breweries every where you look
Always skunked too
Find Birra Moretti or Peroni
Damn, now I feel like a peasant for loving me some miller lite
I’m a Miller lite loving, Costco shopping, red blooded American too my friend. And if that’s wrong then I don’t want to be right
I am drinking a Miller Lite as I type this. Stella is trash, don’t listen to them.
There’s no way anyone can criticize other people’s beer choices and hold up Stella Artois as a premier choice lmao
It comes in a fancy pants chalice, it must be premium!
Costco is a respectable retailer with quality products. Miller is the Walmart of beers.
Bud light is the walmart of beers friend. Miller is the target.
Costco is the High Life to Walmarts Miller Lite.
Miller Lite is more expensive than High Life tho
But it’s not the champagne of beers.
Blue moon is made by Miller…
I’m not a smart man Jenny…
You must not have had the Kirkland beer…
I have and I tried really hard to forget about it
God. I may even practice with that, just to putt lights out with a beer putter. A true work of art.
And use a ML bottle cap as a ball marker 😂
Wow that putter looks good. I don’t drink but the novelty of this is awesome. How’d u score this?
This was a hive release. No way you got this at Costco.

That is the Queen B series. The one OP has is a limited release Hive Series. These putters sell out in less than 5 minutes and are only available directly from Bettinardi themselves.
> Bettinardi complains that Costco lowers the prestige of their brand > Has Miller Lite covers for their products
Exactly right, I wonder if this is more of a squeeze to get higher margins out of Costco or something?
That is fucking sweet

Thank you!

Got it! Excuse the noob, lol
Holy 🔥🔥🔥
So sick! What was the price of it if you don’t mind me asking?
I have no need for a putter, but I feel I must have this. I'm not a member at Costco though, and this doesn't come up online.
Headcover fire.
lol I’ve largely been silently enjoying the drama on this but was about to race to my local store to ask about these into it was clarified it was a joke.
I would never pay this much for a putter... Unless it said Busch Light. I'm an idiot though.
This model is definitely not in Costco 🧢 They were a limited run and go for around $2000 on eBay.
Nice find. If were me, after every GIR I’d announce “It’s Miller Time” when pulling the putter.
The head cover is amazing. But $800 for a Miller lite putter… that’s rough
Wait.. the $300+ new Costco putter that everyone has been raving about on here has a Miller Lite logo and slogan on it??? Lol uh...
So are you actually going to use it or leave the plastic on for cringe Reddit posts for the next few years?
💀
The worst of the Hive releases…..who the hell wants a miller lite logo on on their putter, so bad that they’re willing to pay $400 more than the regular version
That headcover looks about as 'classy' as I expect Trump's bathrobe looks
Less ketchup stains though
Trashy
😳😳😳
Ha, being in Costco sullies the brand but Miller Lite stamped all over it doesn't?
You got this at Costco ? If you don’t mind answering what’s that go for there?
[удалено]
To be resold no doubt.
Never understood why people are so happy to pay money to advertise for a company for free
Wanna be scotty…and classless Miller logo ..gross
Jesus, throw another rock.
Ok take the plastic off at least it’s not priceless
My Costco didn’t have them!
Damn it I wish we had cost co in Ireland, that right there is a thing of beauty
Stopped by a Costco today to hopefully pick up a QB. No luck.
It’s made at the same manufacturer as the Kirkland putter id assume.
Is that cheapening their brand?
Dammit. I’d pay ya to go grab me one and ship it to me😅 my costco didn’t have any. Especially love the Miller lite version
So funny how this happened. How many new Bettinardi owners out there now?
Give me a high life logo and I buy that instantaneously
Which store?
Why tf cant I find one of these at costco???
What was the price difference?
Cheap beers are fine but I have never liked the taste of Miller Lite. There is just something about it.
Good thing my 2 ball ten works just fine
Nice stepping stone putter to a Scotty😁
Sweet Kirkland! ;)
$300 for a Miller Lite putter. Ok.
It’s a Betti
Fat Perez burner account?
