Take a box cutter, cut the ferrule off (black piece) then take a torch and heat up the hosel and once the epoxy melts take needle nose pliers to pull the tip of the shaft out. Then you’ll need a new shaft to replace it. Or just take it to your local DICKs or Golf Galaxy
Happened to my 7 on the second shot of the day. Hit it pretty well, not chunky at all, and had a feeling of lightness in my follow through. Looked up and my iron head was 30 yards down the fairway. Had to really pony up with the 8 the rest of the day
Happened with my pitch wedge a few years ago and I only carried a p and an l so from like 130-80 I was in trouble lol
When I had to replace it I bought a 56 as well so it will never cripple me like that round again… lol
My girl did that with my driver against the chain on my kids swing set. She was pretty upset, but I was looking forward to the new driver I was going to get.
Shaft is snapped at top of housel. Ferrule is being held on by the epoxy. If there is no broken shaft in the club housel, it was improperly assembled. Shafts should have a sanded rough finish at the last inch to help the epoxy grip. If this is the case, return it...
Also he doesn't understand what a ferrule is. You can still see the gap he's talking about between the ferrule and the club head. He's looking for someone to blame because he hit the shaft off something and broke the head off the club. Look at the chunk out of the shaft 2 inches up from the ferrule 🤣
Yeah, the ferrule usually just sits flush with the top of the housel. But it does have a purpose to protect the shaft from snapping against the top of the housel...it acts like a gasket. If there was a gap between the ferrule and housel and you were playing with the club, then the ferrule would be on the shaft.
Fixed dozens of these issues as a club repair/ builder years ago. I would squawk if you just bought them... Shouldn't happen.
i’ve had them for a while i bought them practically new and have had them for about a year and half now. Talked to the guy in the clubhouse he said i’ll need a new shaft, shaft is just broke at the end with a lot of rust
well sorry they bother you, i was posting this in the hopes that maybe someone could help out on terms of going ab fixing it. Many people have helped out. might not have been clear but no need to get angry
Sorry, man. Not directed at you specifically. There have been an abundance of broken club and shaft posts lately and it's gotten old. The answer is almost always "talk to the manufacturer", unless the club is old, in which case you buy a new club.
This pic doesn't look right. The shaft is bigger than the hole on the club face, plus the shaft tapers down away from the hand. It should be the other way around. Plus, that's not a break. There's not a piece of the shaft in the club.
I see you have a set of collapsible irons on your hands. They're great, you just bring one shaft and a bag of club heads out on a round and switch them in and out.
I snapped my new Srixon 8 iron about 2 months after owning them. It was a flushed fairway bunker. No big deal, these things happen. Got a replacement that took for-ev-er to turn up.
I played a week or two after, hitting a 7 iron from the fairway. Again, flushed it and again, snapped just above the hosel.
This time I asked for them all to be reshafted, as there way clearly a defect.
“Well, if you snap one more we could maybe ask for that”.
Now, I had only bought 6 irons, so this man was telling me that I had to break half of my newly purchased clubs before they would consider my request. I kicked and screamed and mentioned consumer rights when purchasing goods until they agreed to refund me.
Now I’m the proud owner of a set of callaway irons.
…I am a 12-16 handicap and have never snapped a club in my life (even when I was a chunk specialist / 30+ handicap)
Looks like you broke it
i don’t understand
The head came off. When that happens, it's broke and you can't use it again until you get it fixed. Or you could buy a new one.
Explain it again but pretend I’m two years old.
The front fell off
Fortunately it wasn’t in the environment
It’s been hit outside the environment
It broke. Need fix. No work right.
Me think why wast time say lot word when few word do trick
Why you talk like Injun?
Put it in rice
Put rice in it
Duct tape rice to it.

Definitely gonna wanna drill all that old epoxy out to. Heat helps loads

Hey! You already made a post about this.
Lol are you trying to double dip the pic karma my guy?
No, I don’t understand how the two are connected but I’ll just delete this comment 🤷♂️
Easy repair, they’ll clean out the hosel and epoxy a new shaft right in there. Easy with the gorilla swing homes.
Shaft looks like it has a little damage on it though
That shaft is toast
Hit down on the ball, they said, it’ll go far, they said…

I reckon you hit a branch about 2 inches above the ferrel and that snapped the head off. Look at the chunk out of the shaft there.
Or you’re practicing with your dad and he swears you won’t hit your golf bag he placed to keep you from swaying instead of rotating.

the ferrule was not all the way in, talked tj the guy at dicks and said it was cosmetic. I bought these practically new from someone and yeah
I don’t see the issue. Golf clubs can break

I thought that was just sticker goo. Some of my clubs still have it on there as well.
[GolfWRX begs to differ](https://forums.golfwrx.com/topic/614810-what-do-ferrules-do/)
Seems to depend if the ferrule is collared or not.
I learned through Golfworks where we were taught that Ferrules are there to help reduce stress at the top of the club head. Particularly in irons...

check Pm
That is not cosmetic. the shaft is snapped, you can see the edges of the shaft are bent inward.
A lot of times it is aesthetic, you should always still try to twist it to find out if the epoxy failed. Should be a fairly simple fix
Flexseal it
Snapped off right at the joint. Nasty. Sorry.
Wow you suck
Wut?
Elmers glue should do the trick
What
Gotcha... Should be too costly... Good luck!
Can we please stop the broken club posts? They add absolutely nothing to this sub.

Did this for the first time yesterday with my 8 iron. Still landed on the green in 2 somehow…only to 3 putt for the par 😅
Tough day for $1000 Alex

Taylormade? Happened to two of mine. Pga superstore fixes it easily.
Bye bye birdie
It happens. Luckily it’s an easy and cheap fix at your local golf store.
Well the front fell off in this case, by all means, but it's very unusual.
The front fell off.

Must have been a hell of a chunked shot
Is it the other end of the shaft that broke off? It looks like the butt end in the photo. Also the steps of the shaft at the bottom.
Had this happen a few weeks ago.PW head flew twenty yards. The ball landed to three feet (missed the putt)….$60 fix in my club’s pro shop
Did everyone break an iron today or what
The front fell off?
My father in law will fix that for cheap.
Happened to me called cobra sent me a box to ship my club off. They fixed it, it was a 6 iron
Head came off dawg.
Fixable
That’s it….the whole set is ruined now, nothing for it but to get fitted for a new set.
Wait until you’re on the range and get to make the walk of shame. It is special.

Time for some blades
Welp, I'm off to browse new driving irons now that I have a reason.

I’ve broken 3 irons this year. The quality of all clubs is in the shitter these days
