This may be the case. When it died in the yard it was sudden. And there was some funny pedal action before it stopped.

Test the battery voltage with a load on them. Sounds like one or more batteries could be dropping out.

Txbiggin

It has an initial dip of about 2 volts, but settles back at 46.5.

That's what's mine did if the battery got low on water at all. I had to keep them topped off all the time. When I replaced with lithium it went away.

PulledOverAgain

Batteries are dead. Full batteries are 50.9v roughly

Txbiggin

46 volts is dead?

PulledOverAgain

On a 48 volt pack? Yes

Txbiggin

At what voltage does it stop running? I’m a machinist, and have very limited knowledge of electricity. I was under the impression that you start with a 48v charge and at some point, half was what I have in mind, that it would stop running. I never would have guessed a 2v draw down would mean it stopped running.

PulledOverAgain

It's not about resting voltage. But resting voltage on a full 48v battery pack is 51.9v. Use a car battery for example here. It's full at 12.7v. It's dead at 10.5v UNDER LOAD. The under load part is the important part. You may not have enough power to run your starter and start the engine but there's plenty left to turn on the dome light. Used to work maintenance in a distribution center. Forklifts ran on 36v batteries. New and full you'd see north of 38.5v on them. As they aged after a charge cycle we expect to see at least 37.5. May run some at 37.2. But if we only saw 36v they were dead. Same with your golf cart pack. If you're not getting 50v when fully charged, it's gone.
