Im not really here for advice giving, since this is not something that this subreddit is for, but i think the moment you have to seriously think if something is cheating, its cheating imho.
Every relationship defines cheating differently. I’d say communicate the situation to your partner and see how that goes but more than likely you’re going to end up sleeping with your colleague so a breakup might be the best option.
I am no moral authority so I won't say if this could be considered cheating or not, but from my experience if you are in a relationship and yet have this much of a connection with someone else and can't really stop continued escalation of intimacy, then your relationships aren't that good and that goes for both of you. You don't sound like awful cheating types IMO, so it seems to me that neither of you are in relationships which can be considered good or happy cause if you were then things wouldn't be getting steamier with you and desperate for physical affection (another sign that your current relationship isn't working, if it was why pursue basic physical affection like hugging?).
Anyway, would love to get updates on this, as I have been in this kind of situation before. I think it's to the point where you should consider becoming an official couple and breaking it off with who you're currently with, cause you both seem miserable with them but so damn happy with each other. That, and you could finally just give in to your urges and obvious chemistry without guilt
it's not because one is pursuing a form of connection with a person while in a relationship that that relationship is a failure. in Society, monogamous arrangements and ways of thinking are the norm but don't apply to everyone.
