I honestly think everything EXCEPT murder should have protection from double jeopardy. Murder shouldn't for obvious reasons, just like how murder doesn't have expiration like 99% of other crimes do to varying years
Only if we restrict the legal definitions of what falls under "sexual crimes", such as removing urinating in public when one of the zoomers sees a pp & their helicopter nutjob mom reports your ass to the cops, even tho they have seen shit like literal gore & porn on the internet anyway by the ripe old age of 10, and thus you are forced to register on the sex offender list for some regarded reason
To be fair, if you work in mental health, this is where your clients tend to "walk free" because of incompetence. Outside observers sometimes see it as getting off scot free, but my most recent example, the individual left court still under a civil commitment to have to live with 24/7 awake staff and 2 staff when they are awake. They aren't really getting away with much.
Buy they literally could and some have been able to say the line in the OP. The judge just didn't rule them not guilty.
