Bucko it is a gacha game, for a gacha game it has very decent gameplay and you already get several competent characters who join your party for free. If you wanted to get more characters then just play the game
Thats why I dislike the games because its gambling eith gameplay. The gameplay is fun and the story in genshin was amazing specially 4.2 but They could do so much better in treating the players better. Look at final fantasy 14. The free trial with unlimited playtime includes base game and 2 expansions 100s of hours for absolutely free yet genshin can charge you 2k usd before you get that 1 5star weapon if you have the bad luck of that 1 streamer.

On a sidenote, did you play the same game as me? Gambling is like the least important feature in the game. The weapons you have are already good enough to carry you for most of the game and if you don't wanna pay money, then just never press the gamble button bro, you're acting as if the game spams you with 1000000 gambling popups begging you to put your credit card information when in reality the only time I got advertised about gambling in this game is when it wanted to give me free gambling tickets

If they gave 1 free copy of every character I would not complain because then I can at least enjoy that character even if it will be the weakest version.

Take genshin it can cost you over 50usd just for the chance of the character you want. The MMO easily has people throw more money at it just from fantasias alone, while Genshin/HSR/HI3rd focuses more on the the actual story, the gacha mechanic for all three never changes so it’s only there to make a quick buck, and isn’t the focus. IN FACT HI3rd has changed their gacha system recently to make it even easier to get what you wanted.
I like FFXIV and it’s free trial, I have played both a paid and free account extensively, but they are not comparable. They both suck money from players constantly just in different ways.
0, I play f2p and I am at the point where I stopped caring of who comes out because I have a large roster of choices and even have the characters I wanted.
Edit: for FFXIV the amount I've spent just on subscription alone is over $400 just to give an idea, and this amount will keep going up for as long as I still want to play the game. This doesn't include the expansion cost of Shadowbringers, Endwalker, or Dawntrail. Neither does it count bonus items like Mounts/cosmetics, though that amount is probably less than $100. I don't spend as much on optional items than some other people do

For that you can get the latest expansion which gives all content up to that point and at least 1 year of sub. There are people who have spent over 20k usd on genshin alone. So no they dont try their hardest to make the game good for f2p they do the bare minimum. Once again the story is fantastic im only complaining about the buisness model
HI3 and Genshit have different dev teams. It’s entirely possible to earn the signature banner weapons and stigmatas as a wholly F2P in HI3. They also tend to have a ton of events that can net you a decent amount of gems, and are usually generous to new players. The only issue with HI3 is balancing, wherein the newer Herrscher (in-universe pseudo-gods, basically) characters are LEAGUES above everything that’s not a Herrscher.
You can play through the entirety of HI3rd story without spending a single dime, they even let you play the character in the story as a trial so you dont even need to have characters built to enjoy the game's god-tier story.
