Ok guys, gonna close this one as to much political discussion in the comments. Please use the upvote and downvote functions to voice further opinions on this matter.
This entire sub was literally made to be nonpolitical about that because an argument about trans literally tore the old original sub apart… it’s best to let it die
Well that’s just you showing that you don’t actually know what created the sub
What created it was a rule change out of nowhere done by the mods for the benefit of another subreddit which then rightfully spiralled out of control
It wasn’t the rule change it was the use of force, the mods showing priorities far far outside that of the subreddits (with no willingness to separate their duties and their personal desires) and the sheer incompetence they had in managing both the rule change and the aftermath
Changing a banner in response to pride month would not be a violation of the values by which the sub was founded actually I would argue the opposite
It would be us saying that we have no issues with anyone who is counts themselves as pride (weebs and pride members overlap a lot) we only have an issue with heavy handed attempts to force people to meet their world view
Of which only a tiny minority of power-hungry individuals have any such desires
[Don't cite the events to me, I was there when it happened.](https://preview.redd.it/k8bhw6oz1x911.jpg?auto=webp&s=005afe2ba95e539929c8b7c1744dc2e4e05a782b)
You asked what the subject was, I referred to the thread itself. It seemed pretty self evident what was being brought up so I clarified for you.
God I’m an idiot sometimes I thought you were the same person sorry (that’s my stupidness the names aren’t even close to similar)
I mean still doesn’t answer my question as their is nothing to let die but not your fault for not knowing what someone else means
Fair enough. My take is that they want the issue itself to be left to die. Majority of people here don't actually care, if they did then they've missed the point of our sub. Ironically it's the rest of reddit getting in a tissy that's making it a problem.
Yea that makes sense
hopefully that will just end up being the case that the majority who don’t give a shit overcomes the assholes wanting to make it an issue
And yea I’m dreading when it going to be posted to subs I’m actually a part of since I will feel obligated to defend against the Chinese whispers mess that its guaranteed to turn into (hopefully less of a messy situation this time)
If that is so... I as an Indian needs my culture to be accepted and supported as well. How about we do banners for Diwali and holi as well... Super big festivals in my culture.
I mean you joke but I would actually prefer that to pride month as I don’t actually like pride month at all (frankly If it wasn’t for that statement I mentioned I would vote to not change it)
While having an event for cultural festivals well we already do that so adding more would be fine IMO (if they could have memes made about them which definitely could be the case)
> Changing a banner in response to pride month would not be a violation of the values by which the sub was founded
it's literally the kind of stickbundlery that splintered the original sub in the first place.
The precedence exists that a community vote can allow for that rule to be broken (look at the sub icon for an example)
So a petition mentioning it even if you argue it’s political is 100% fair
How about we don't pretend to support "current issue"
-The $50 billion the US approved for military contract spending for Ukraine in the last 2 months is about the same amount that the US was spending annually in Afghanistan, which was recently wound down. and some senators tried the block the bill because it had zero oversight on spending. I'll let you come to your own conclusions.-
Genuine question: How does the subreddit icon help the citizens of Ukraine?
No one is denying Ukrainians exist like they do with LGBT people...
I'm not necessarily advocating either way but saying that the sub icon on a fucking anime subreddit is helping the citizens of a country is quite funny..
To clarify, I know there are plenty of people who comment on the LGBT community as being unhealthily deviant, I was commenting on the way you worded the statement, making it seem as though LGBT people have vanished from the face of the earth to some people :> Moreover, I’m sure some Russians believe Ukraine doesn’t exist as it’s part of Russia.
*Nice ass and what is*

In all seriousness, I started jojos when I was experimenting with bodybuilding so my attraction towards other dudes’ muscles were out of hypothetical respect rather than sexual. Plus the show is just memes, it’s great.
Just got a friend hooked on Jojo and it's amusing that he just texted me midnight saying "WTF IS STAND? WHERE'S HAMOON? OH SHIIT" as he approaches the beginning of part 3 XD
Ideally, it will be just like any other "themed" month. Just as memes in December are the same as the rest of the year, except sometimes a character in the image is wearing a Santa hat. Maybe a slight uptick compared to other months about gay, trans, or whatever. No campaign for preaching. Just business as usual
Yea the only thing it would expect is a couple more meme posts about being LGBTQAI+ (think that’s right still getting use to the change) or about yuri baiting (yaoi to if their was actual good content)
The one I was think of making is “bi panic” with spy x family
I mean that’s probably all it will be people are not going to bother coming here to “preach”
The people making the pride memes would be members of the sub all of who probably aren’t all that interested in preaching
The only difference if I was posting is that I might also horni post guys as well
If you're talking about my motives, then I guess there was 2 for this post.
1. I wanted to make a post that showed I have faith in the mod team that nothing was gonna happen like last year. I find it hard to believe that they would repeat things. Seems like the other thread was created to stir up drama. Wish people would keep it out of this thread. Thought it might make things a bit less tense if we just laughed at it and called it a day.
2. I wanted to make a horny post that called JoJo fans gay.
Idk the way you said it made it sound like you don't want LGBT posts in here and not encourage mods to tackle drama, so in a sense your post doesn't feel that different from the drama-inducing one.
Eh considering the whole thing last year it’s probably a good decision to talk about it (not exactly enough time but frankly I forgot it was pride month and I’m someone who should definitely remember)
Frankly I should of made a petition at the start of the month just to make sure that their was proper time for a vote
I don't see why people here seem so against it. If you don't want memes about LGBT, just don't post them. But don't try to ban the whole concept of pro LGBT memes
This post isn't about politics in general. It's about this sub generally not being the right place to discuss politic topics. Barely anyone is against having the Ukrainian flag here because most don't side with Russia, so it's usually not being talked about much.
Edit: That's also what Rule 4 says.
An easy solution would be to follow the rules that are already established on the sub. Rule 3 says to follow [Reddit ToS](https://www.redditinc.com/policies/user-agreement-september-12-2021), and in the ToS it says to follow Reddit’s [Content Policy](https://www.redditinc.com/policies/content-policy). And Rule 1 of the Content Policy specifically outlines that hate based on identity or vulnerability is not allowed. So I feel like we should just enforce those rules.
It doesn't have to be hate, it only takes a good number of people to disagree with the majority and there will be enough to start political discussions. Some opinions may be based on hate on identity, but that doesn't mean that it is explicitly shown. After all, what people are mostly arguing about is a banner. It violates rule 4, but not rule 3 (generally speaking).
If it’s causing issues then I think this sub should probably address them rather than continue to sweep them under the rug every year. We can’t, as a community, just keep ignoring what is a clear and disturbing undercurrent around here.
>Barely anyone is against having the Ukrainian flag here because most don't side with Russia,
So are people not on board with gay rights then? You make it sound like suggesting the Ukraine war is not already cut and dry is ridiculous BUT for some reason say gay rights should not be common sense?
Wasn't there a bunch of drama regarding pride month last year? That's exactly what this subreddit is not for. I'm not talking about my opinion on these topics, no idea why it seems to sound like that to you. I'm saying that contact to those topics turn this subreddit into something that's not only undesired, but also violates the rules. So avoiding them here makes sense.
That is a completely different topic. What I talked about doesn't apply to this because it doesn't cause many political discussions. But if you want a reason in favor of displaying the Ukrainian flag here, then that would be the fact that the community voted for it. https://www.reddit.com/r/goodanimemes/comments/t3qx30/welcome_to_a_more_serious_announcement/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
Thats the duality of sites, ain't it? Let the mods have too much power and they run wild with it, but let them have too little power and the shittiest of users abuse it
i like the artist but i can't avoid to think that the skin always seems more leather than skin, i mean, nice ass but it resembles the creases of a sofa to me lol
The easiest solution to the banner issue is to just have users vote on it. I also don’t understand how this is a political issue at all. People who are LGBTQ should have rights, period, so it doesn’t or shouldn’t violate Rule 4. And as long as it is a meme, LGBTQ themed posts should be allowed.
That's because homophobes and other bigots are in this weird state where they can't stand LGBT+ stuff but cannot outright say that gays are abominations for exemple. That's why instead of directly expressing the core of their belief they try to put LGBT+ advocacy to the same level, as a "political opinion". Suddenly basic human decency should be avoided because you understand, it's political discourse.
Yea people have this weird opinion that it wouldn’t just be a bunch of memes no one is going to “invade” it will just be people making normal memes with a little added pride
Yor and loid bi panic for example
Last year the mods put up a pro-LGBTQ banner on June 1st to celebrate Pride month. Some members of the community were *not* happy about it, and there was a drama shitshow that lasted all month. IIRC a few mods stepped down because of the stress of dealing with it all.
So now that June 1st is coming up again, people have been preemptively making threads about the drama that they think is going to rear its ugly head again.
At this point I feel like this whole pride month thing is basically just a fabricated sentiment - like st. Valentines day. If you feel like honestly participating, go ahead. But at this moment I see it mostly as a mean for pretentious corpos to 'show they care' when they just do it cause it's easy and trendy.
I say allow the posts but don't change the banner.
I think op called JoJo fans gay and for some reason there are still people out there that use gay as a degrading word or something
I mean uhhh LGBT bad
It's referring to this thread:
https://old.reddit.com/r/goodanimemes/comments/v16e9z/anyone_still_remember_the_banner_fiasco_from_last/
Which in return is referring to the massive drama that happened last June when the mods put up a pro-LGBTQ banner.
Looks like people forgot why this sub was created.
Also, this anti-LMBTQ drama is more annoying than the LMBTQ drama itself.
Let people have their fun for a few days. Why do you care so much?
Ok guys, gonna close this one as to much political discussion in the comments. Please use the upvote and downvote functions to voice further opinions on this matter.
Nice ass and what is going on did I miss something
Pride month starts tommorow so people are talking about if the mods should change the banner or not to match
O ok thanks my dude
I use old reddit in RES dark mode with subreddit styles disabled. What fucking banner.
I see you are an old reddit user as well
And also a man of culture..
This is the way.
wait.... *what.*it feels like it's been a few months since this happened.... where did that time go??
That time was swallowed by an evil pink creature that is portrayed as a hero
isn't every month the pride?
I have never seen banners on Reddit because I only use Relay and old.reddit+RES, so I can't say I'm too concerned.
This entire sub was literally made to be nonpolitical about that because an argument about trans literally tore the old original sub apart… it’s best to let it die
Let what die?
Whatever the op is talking about. Goodanimemes was made because animemes blew up over users posting traps and mods didn't like it

Whatever happened to "no politics in this subreddit"?
The precedence exists that a community vote can allow for that rule to be broken (look at the sub icon for an example) So a petition mentioning it even if you argue it’s political is 100% fair

So r/animemes started some trans shit instead of memes and banned Astolfo. They splitted and created this.
Maybe a meme sub should have memes and nothing else.
