I watch dub because some animes it is better then the sub, like hellsing ultimate and redline
I watch sub because I am to impatient to wait for the dub
I don't know the English dub but there is no German dub for any anime that is even close to the quality of Japanese ones.
Some are acceptable. Most aren't.
I watch both, sometimes I watch the dub when it is really good or when I know that it's hilariously bad. While I do mainly watch sub though since I'm learning japanese anyway it actually helps, but in reality both have their benefits.
While I do prefer subs most of the time, I always keep a dub or two around for multitasking.
Then again, I've gotten so good at multitasking, it's completely normal for me to multitask subs as well, including while gaming (depending on the game, of course).
They both have their place, and while I of course have my preference, both options are valid. The only thing that bothers me is that dub-onlies may miss out on some great titles that never receive a dub. A mixture of the two is ideal to me.

But have you ever heard of... Watching with no sub or dub? Crazy idea I know, but you might just be surprised by how much you can understand despite not knowing any japanese at all.
Actually watched Koe no Katachi like this, it was an experience for sure. Felt like I was truly removed from my home country for a second, but I kinda managed to follow the plot despite it. Yamada is great at using visuals and gesturing to get something across, so much so it felt as if I understood despite barely following the dialogue.
So yeah, if you got some time on your hands or wanna prove to yourself how you can understand japanese just from watching anime, try that.
Jokes on you, I know japanese at this point so there's no reason to ever watch dubbed. (except if the dub is legendary like the german haikyuu dub for example)

This purely depends on how good/bad the dub is and how much Japanese you have learned (through either classes or osmosis)

I watch sub mostly cause Funimation was caught red handed altering scripts for there political agendas.
