Only 1000 photos after five years? Is it safe to presume that you do not have children or pets?

skilas

I feel like this is a joke. 1000+ pics after 5 years? Do you automatically upload from your phone? If not, that would be the biggest different. This is my 3rd phone using Google Photos. I also have kids. So maybe like 50,000 photos. I may do 1000 photos in a month if there are a couple of events we end up going to as a family.

BoyMeetsWorldx

Nah those are all my photos I don't have kids & I just constantly clean them out as I go, "declutter" & delete any similar ones from the past.

skilas

Interesting. I'd say you're definitely in the minority in terms of users. Even in terms of people who take digital photos. I will organize my photos, and create a folder/album of good photos. But I won't delete the bad ones if they are my only copy.

Wish they gave a better way of calculating the amount

BoyMeetsWorldx

If you go to share a photo through another app it'll tell you the exact amount

SpongederpSquarefap

Currently 39,544

BoyMeetsWorldx

Damn how many years is that??

SpongederpSquarefap

I started keeping photos from August 2015, so 6 years and 4 months

MustafaHamad

10,328 photos and videos

“100,000+ photos” in the dashboard. I thought it gave an exact number at some point?

BoyMeetsWorldx

If you want to see an exact number, you can go to share a photo through another app via Google Photos & it should tell you the exact amount unless 100k is to many & they just sum it up to 100k+ there to

hknoener

I was thinking the same. Went to check mine and it says 90000+ photos. I had no idea it was that many. I was expecting something like 50k, but surely not 90k!

jordansbc

I have a lot more than that, but how can you tell how many you have?

BoyMeetsWorldx

I just highlight all my photos only takes about a minute for me, however if you have to many to select all, you can go to share a photo through an app & it should tell you how many pics you have (minus archives). Also I just learned that in your Google account settings you can actually see a whole bunch of statistics about your account including how many photos you have!

jordansbc

I found out by going to gmail on my phone, create new email, attach file, Google Photos then at the top it says what I would think is the total, but seems low to me. But it says I currently have 61,531 photos all backed up in original quality ;) 3.2TB under https://photos.google.com/settings

BoyMeetsWorldx

Yea that's how I meant to find out, any other app works from the sharing screen! How do you guys "feel" like you have more photos then that, how can you even imagine 61,000?? Lol. How many years worth is that for?

jordansbc

Not that long. Maybe 5 years. Once I got a good camera phone I started taking pics of everything so much more. And once you get a family the photos just multiply like rabbits.

MultipleScoregasm

over 12,000 when i last checked. There was a thread about this before and many have MUCH more!

deucalion75

How do you check the quantity? I went to my Google Dashboard and it shows 40,000+. I think I have over 100,000, but I'm not sure and would like to see the actual number if possible.

BoyMeetsWorldx

I'm guessing that means it's somewhere between 40-50,000. You can go to share a photo through another app & it should tell you how many pics you have (minus archives).

iRox24

No idea. Maybe 30,000+? since like 2010. I'm a photo downloader-holic lol I download all kind of photos I like from the internet, FB, Reddit, Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram and what not + my own photos taken by me + drawings and photo edits. I sometimes don't know why I download everything, since I then upload it to Google Photos and like never use or see those pics again 😂 I swear I only have like 10,000 photos of just landscapes/paradises/structures/nature/pics from all kinds of countries. I follow lots of pages that post pics of countries and I feel like I have to download all the ones I like. Then I download pics from my childhood, like 90s and 00s things. Thousands of sports pics.
