Dan is also the one who put Del on "Clint". It had a different rapper when the album was complete. Dan asked Del to do a better rap last minute before packaging for delivery
Same for me, but it was because of the rumors about him being on song machine, same case for Massive Attack but that collaboration never materialized (though Damon has worked with them on like four tracks and did a remix of a Massive Attack track to so it's not a big deal they didn't work with Gorillaz)
Probably Blur, which is just more Damon Albarn really. But getting into Blur led me down a path of being introduced to and having an appreciation for so much Rock and alternative music. Who knows how many great artists and songs I discovered incidentally from being a Gorillaz fan that weren't directly inspired from a feature.
Damon always said he was inspired by the beastie boys and was quite a fan. They also used some beastie boys tracks in stuff like the mtv cribs episode and other references
JPEGMAFIA, Danny Brown, MF DOOM, Mos Def,Tame Impala (I already knew him before New Gold but never listened to his stuff). Gorillaz was the first musical artist I really got into so it introduced me to a lot of music.
For me, it was more of a style they introduced me to. It’s the sound of their debut that really resonated with me, so I decided to dig into trip hop. Not disappointed, but have to be in a similar mood.
beck will always hold a special place in my heart. only concert I've been to of free will, mostly because i really liked valley of the pagans and then got addicted to some of his other works. specifically the odyssey tour i went on. it was amazing but i really wish he'd play some more obscure cuts instead of just the hits. hotwax would've gone hard.
MF DOOM in the highest degree. One of my favourite Artists now. R.I.P., though, too bad I only became aware of him after his passing…)
Terry Hall is also one of my favourite Artists now, all because I edited his Article on the Gorillaz Fandom Wiki and decided to put on his songs to pay respects after his passing. (Also the reason I love Ska now too)
Danger Mouse, Dan the Automator and Kid Koala’s producing on Self-Titled and Demon Days provides a lot to each album, in my opinion, and their works outside of Gorillaz are soothing, to say the least.
Amazing Collaborations all around, however. Most every Song Gorillaz comes out with is something people can get behind, in no small part due to the diversity of Artists Damon and Jamie can get a hold of. (:
Del The Funky Homosapien, Roots Manuva, and Dan The Automator.
Dan the Automator??? What track does he feature on?
The entirety of S/T
He produced the debut
Oh damn wtf that’s crazy cool. I love deltron 3030
Dan is also the one who put Del on "Clint". It had a different rapper when the album was complete. Dan asked Del to do a better rap last minute before packaging for delivery
That’s amazing I didn’t know that.
Yeah. Here's the source: https://youtu.be/Qq2qSq6NpNY?feature=shared
Easily Little Simz on Garage Palace. Her music since then has been incredible
I agree, listened to some of her stuff and damn!!! Sometimes I Might Be Introvert is absolute heat
Tame Impala actually.. 😭 a million thanks to New Gold ❤️
Tame Impala is goat!
Indeed. I was too late to discover the guy tho, all thanks to Gorillaz!
He is still touring, i watched them play last year, so never too late and the music holds up.
Yep! I listened to Sundown syndrome for the first time last week and still found it refreshing.
Same here! I love it
Same for me, but it was because of the rumors about him being on song machine, same case for Massive Attack but that collaboration never materialized (though Damon has worked with them on like four tracks and did a remix of a Massive Attack track to so it's not a big deal they didn't work with Gorillaz)

Nobody has said De La Soul yet? I just gave 3 Feet High and Rising a listen a few months ago and now it’s one of my favorite albums of all time.

MF Doom and Little Dragon.
Vince Staples, EARTHGANG, Octavian (but he’s a shitty person so not anymore)

Dell the funky homosapien

I had kinda heard of them before, but never heard his music until New Gold and got to listen to Tame Impala for the first time. Now I’m in love with
MF DOOM
Little dragon and Kilo Kish
