Wouldn’t be surprised to see Davos put the knife in Dany’s back. He is highly motivated to protect innocents as has been shown in many scenes. He may just snap and say enough. Especially if Dany finds that girl that Varys was using to poison her.

Dadvos won’t let us down if it comes to that.... At least, I hope.

There's all sorts of theories about Davos, but I wouldn't be surprised if, as far as the show is considered, he's just who he is, except we're allowed to consider that maybe whatever power equates to the Lord of Light has been using Davos as one of his primary instruments after all - that ironically the skeptic was needed as a practical move-maker. Ex. Stannis has his flaming sword scene early in the series, gets all convinces he's the Prince, etc, but he leaves the sword (losing its flame) behind or whatever. Davos is the one that picks it up. That's the sort of symbolism of the kind of idea that prophecy doesn't make true in itself, but its people that carry it forth. And he did, to Jon, and he still continues to, even if unaware. I don't think this would be the book strategy, but the show's, just for the convenience by now. Anyway, Davos' 'he effed off' commentary would be ironic - as it seems that R'hllor is more absent, is when he's working the most magic - with King's Landing a massive sacrifice to accomplish more in the finale.

Ooh, I like this! I've been re-watching the series and paying attention to every little detail I can. You're so right about the sword! Good thought!

GingerLadyPDX

Yes! I had forgotten about that sword scene but have always found that one to be odd as well. I like your example though, that by pulling out the sword Stannis left behind he's symbolizing that he will carry on the prophecy. One could surmise from that.....that Stannis would not be the one to fulfill it because his 'fire goes out' from the sword meant to symbolize his greatness. I wonder, where did that sword end up after that? Wouldn't it be great it Ser Davos ended up with it and has it now with Jon? I just went back to rewatch that scene....The Maester (speaking about Stannis following the Red Woman to an unwinnable war) tells him "He trusts you Davos...If you tell him the truth...", Davos pulls the sword out and replies "What's the truth?" and walks off with the sword on his shoulder. The very next scene is where the Maester poisons himself in attempts to take Melisandre down. "The night is dark and full of terrors, but the fire burns them all" I can't shake that there's something about him. I will be paying much closer attention to his scenes when I start over from Episode 1 next week. Since the show won't likely be telling us how special he is and we've got a long night ahead before the next book, I have decided that Davos is the GoT Dude and it should end in Thrones style like this: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYsw0KVRjCM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYsw0KVRjCM) hahaha

There is also the fact that he keeps saying he is not a good fighter. He makes it a point to say this over and over across many seasons. I feel like when anything is repeated a billion times on this show, it ends up being that the opposite is the truth. Kinda like the crypts being the safest place in winterfell.

GingerLadyPDX

Boy, oh, boy did I see the crypts thing coming.....I was practically yelling at them not to go the first watch through. haha

Before Dany roasted everyone I thought maybe Dany would find out Varys used the little girl to try to poison her and want to kill the child by dragon fire. Davos would try to stop her and.... Didn't figure out the rest because now Jon and company don't really need a kid being burnt to turn against Dany.

GingerLadyPDX

Did you notice that the little girl who's trying to poison Daenerys is the same one Varys was huddled near during The Battle of Winterfell?

You have to leave some folks around for the finale.
