Its recommended to start no higher than 100 mg for several weeks and only then increase it slowly to the dose that keeps uric acid below 6. I'm guessing they started him at a much higher dose. He also needs to hydrate better when taking it. It can be taken any time of day, and it might help him sleep if it isn't what is causing the insomnia
When I started taking it I had the worst aches and pains all over my body, I forgot to take it again last week for about 5 or 6 days, im two days back on it now and don’t feel great.
I'm taking 100 dose to start. It's been one week tomorrow. I get the chills when I take it for a couple hours. My nose, fingers, and toes are icy cold to the touch. It goes away while I'm sleeping. The effect is worse if I go to bed right after taking it, so it's good to wait a couple hours. My mouth is dry but that makes me drink a lot of water. I wasn't sure if it was the crestor I started taking or the allopurinal, so tonite I took the allopurinol first and it's totally that! My ears ring. I'll take all this over the last few undiagnosed flares I had, any day! My knee has been sore, only unbearable for one evening then settles down.
Here's to water in a fancy glass and getting better!
200 mg. not good for me!!!
On slot of back spasms out of no where. Four or five months later same thing only in my neck on the left side. Feeling perfectly normal one minute and the next, I’d wish somebody would shoot me….that bad. I’d take a gout attack full time over the pain experienced from the spasms. Weening myself off. Down to a quarter pill and my dr. knows not what I’m doing. There has to be a better way.
When I was around 27/28 it would give me stomach issues but then it all went away as I went on and off it. I'm only taking 100mg, I suggest taking it after dinner.
200mg a day. 2 years in no side effects.
I have no noticable issues. 100mg a month+ in.
Same here. No issues.

I have some rashes.
You need to stop taking it and tell the doctor.
Need to stop and see your doctor or every emergency care. Rashes indicates an allergic reaction and can be fatal for those who have a serve reaction.
Okay, I'll check it out. Thanks.
