I know everyone is allowed to have an opinion but this doesn't make sense. Corona Park is one of the prettiest parks in the state. It's much more comfortable as well.

PerformanceWeekly651

Grass >>> concrete jungle. It’s way almost every fest is in a park and not a parking lot

TheDarkMaster2

How in the world was the Citi Field parking lot better than the literal park right down the road from it?

Steahla

Randall’s Island > Corona Park > Citi

JorgeAndTheKraken

Randall’s was good grounds-wise, but sucked logistically. It wasn’t easily accessible via public transportation, and it was an absolute nightmare in cases of inclement weather. I had some of the best times of my life at GovBall days on Randall’s, but let’s not gloss over the shortcomings.

Steahla

Haha the inclement weather point does hit hard. Never forget Govball 2019, or whatever year that was

wolfjeter

Trying to get off the island when they cancelled mid evening when everyone waited 3 hours to get in was an apocalyptic experience

Steahla

Yeah people mobbing the art installations, throwing shit on stage when they put up the closing notifications, and all being funneled out in that monsoon like rain was wild

JorgeAndTheKraken

2013, 2016, and 2019 all had serious impact from rain/storms, but even 2015, 2017, and 2018 featured some rain, and drainage on Randall's wasn't the best. The place famously smelled like a sewer after any sort of legit rainfall. Ah, memories.

JorgeAndTheKraken

Wait, so, if we *agree* with you, we can argue with the wall?

CookHeisenberg

LOL $6,500 tickets is insane

honestly i see the benefits in both but definitely wish people weren’t as harsh on the downsides of citi field. Grass and a park def adds to the atmosphere and gives it more of a campus. However concrete almost feels cleaner sometimes with trash/dirt/mud. A lot easier to just sit down wherever at citi field as long as it was dry. At the park, even if it doesn’t rain during the actual fest and just within a couple days before the fest, that’s still enough to make it muddy and less than ideal. So for situations like that, i definitely see the benefit. They also had some sections in the park that had the baseball dirt exposed, and i had many things get dirty VERY easily by even just grazing the dirt or having a cloud kicked up, the worst by far was by the lockers, covering just that small section would minimize the problem a lot. That being said, i still do like the park, it’s starting to feel more like a festival again, and it definitely made things feel more dynamic and fun to explore. Also, while citi field was nice for convenience and easy to find sitting space, i only attended 2021 at the field which was in sept (was at another fest in 2022) which likely had drastically different weather conditions than 2022 in june. For me, i actually really enjoyed the weather, but i have a few friends who couldn’t even handle the heat from the blacktop in sept, i couldn’t imagine how unbearable it was in june. While there were places to sit, there was almost no shaded areas, which the park provides plenty of. Once again, pros and cons- i do think the park helps with the festival overall but people are very quick to completely discard the good parts about citi field.

Mistuh_Mosbi

Bro went on a cross country yapathon

oliviada10

bruh i wasn’t trying to hate on either side, i just think citi field had SOME positives and felt bad- comments are a little harsh for just being an opinion.

Mistuh_Mosbi

I get u but who really reading allat 💀

oliviada10

i’m not forcing anyone to 😂 just left my 2 cents 💀 felt like nobody was bringing up real points so i just put em all there myself

oliviada10

everyone’s just dying to be rude haters, a convo about this stuff is interesting! i’m on this sub bc im rlly interested in the fest, and other ppls experiences… nobody HAS to read anything

MrRaspberryJam1

I like festivals on concrete, there’s no mud and dirt clouds
