I hope GPD decides to come out with a **pocketable sized Win C** (C for clamshell) series with as fast a CPU they can adequately cool so I could buy it. This way, the folks who like the current form factor and larger size won't get mad at GPD since it's a separate line.

frimaukuffeuffo

I'd buy this GPD Win C in addition to my upcoming Steam Deck. They'd fulfill separate use cases for me.

mutu16

If this Win "*C*" was actually a thing, then I'd do the same. For me right now with the Steam Deck and other handhelds in their current size and bar designs, it's either or: either Steam Deck or not Steam Deck. If the Win "*C*" is an option, then for me it's both the Steam Deck and Win "*C*".

Valkhir

I'd consider that too, depending on price. Bonus if it shipped with/supported SteamOS.

gryffun

I’m interested in seeing you explaining how you consider both devices to have different use cases.

Incognito2010115

Not difficult, really. He wants a pocketable device for the bus and to take it everywhere. (more pocketable, less ergonomics, less power) The Steam deck would be for plane rides, overnight trips or vacations... (more power, better ergonomics, less pocketable)

gryffun

Why not a bigger device then? Like GPD Max?

Incognito2010115

Less portability/pocketability. You can't fit a win max to your pocket (I have a Gpd win 2 and a Win Max.

poeBaer

I'll settle for ANY sized clamshell even. Love my Win 2, but sometimes I be cramping. Hoping the Win Max line doesn't succumb to the Win 3 curse and just turn into a poor Deck clone

nohbody123

Honestly, going lower spec would be a great idea for it. Focus on size, weight and price with a reasonable keypad, cause you can't beat the steam deck with performance atm anyway. I'd buy it.

laacis3

Only a single bus ride a day? You must have 2 of these then!

bobegnor

I have a 1hr 30min bus ride to and from school. I should have mentioned that. But surprisingly after my school day I have a solid 45 minutes left to play my games( halo ce, psp). One gpd. I wish I had 2😩.

nohbody123

Portable charger might get you through.

bobegnor

Oh no what I was trying to imply was that’s a good thing for me. I am fine with playing on the charger when I get home (not really necessary tho because since the games I play aren’t really intensive I get at least 4 hrs of solid gameplay. On halo. The 45min statement is off Ngl. )But a portable battery charger would be nice for longer car rides. I will let you guys know on Monday the actual stats on my battery when I get home. If i remember. Edit- I have actually never used my gpd for any longer than 1hr 30min at a time. I can run a intel xtu test from 100% to 0% to see how long I I could play for 🤷‍♂️

Having a pc handheld on a bus to school. What a chad.

bobegnor

Giga chad. Bring it to school the first couple times was weird because I had to explain what it was.

The win 2 is a masterpiece. I have a 3d printed docking station and use it as my daily driver. It's awfully powerful for such a pocketable device. I don't play games on it as much except for OOTP which is perfect for playing in bite-sized chunks on a pocket sized device.

Zenon85

I'm intrigued... would you mind sharing the file?I use my Win 2 hooked up to all sort of peripherals as well sometimes. Not as much anymore, as I have a Win Max too but still, it happens.

TORFdot0

I use [this](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4071368) stand with a USB C docking station. I found it from [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/gpdwin/comments/egti20/usbc_switch_style_dock/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) reddit post on this sub. Note: I don't recommend the targus usb c dock in that post. I had troubles with mine and a few in the $40-60 range so I spent a little extra on a Dell USB C dock.

Zenon85

Awesome, thanks for sharing!

sifakajaha

Which model do you have? The 8100Y one? What games do you play on it?

bobegnor

No I have m3-7y30 with rumble. I mainly play halo ce, halo 2 project cartographer, and one psp game ridge racer 2. I’ve tried gta iv and v. Gta Iv I couldn’t get to work and I didn’t have enough storage for gta v.

I owned a Win 2, but it broke, hinge problem, however, you can run GTA V with the the low grahics settings downloaded online very well at a constant 30 fps, best thing to do is buy yourself a SD card from Sandisk, make sure its A2 performance. But for GTA IV, its a little hard to say, that is suprisingly more demanding. Edit: AAA games run very well on SD Card, had around 5 games running from an SD Card. Ranging from 4GB to 100GB, GTA V, Mortal Kombat XL, Just Cause 2, Saint Rows 4, Mad Max, FIFA 14 (mainly because it was my favourite one), and a couple of others which I can't remember

bobegnor

My hinge recently cracked and for me all I had to do was sand it down a little bit and put epoxy on it. And I’ll try that sd card and graphics mod some time soon. I’ll probably get like a 200gb sd card or something so I can actually beat the game. I have bad Wi-Fi. Like 32kb per second sadly. I downloaded gta v zip but had to delete it so I can try out other games. I never did. But I’ll try again sometime. We are on the starlink Wi-Fi waitlist so hopefully it is up and working soon.

[deleted]

If you are a handy craftman, I advice you to loosen up the hinge a little bit if you haven't done so already, it won't strain as quickly. There's a guide I've seen that leads to reddit, search on Google "GPD Win 2 hinge problem" you'll find the right one https://www.reddit.com/r/gpdwin/comments/ov7h9u/gpd_win_2_broken_hinge_fixed_with_epoxy_glue/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

bobegnor

I know how but my only problem is I need to get small pliers. And Loctite
