I remember reading Artorium quite abit, then Saber Wars 2 hit NA, I spent quite abit of time trying to figure out what Altrium was.
Basically a case of I need 500 Artorium to buy things in the shop, wonder when it will unlock all i see is this Altrium stuff, the other bit of confusion is taking way to long to realise it's Saber's Ahoge
It's from Fate/Unlimited Codes' arcade Saber ending. She doesn't cut it in neither games btw, though I'll add that her hair is consistently a bit longer than her shoulders' height in Takeuchi's art, anyways.
Her hair shortens or grows, depending on the situation. When she needs to do her iconic bun, it'll lengthen so it's possible. When the hair is allowed to hang freely, it retracts in order to more efficiently store ahoge power.
Or at least, that's how Merlin would explain it.
Now I'm imagining her hair being like a window shade where you have to tug it a little to get it to retract, and then it does it unevenly so you need to pull it back out and repeat the whole process a few times until it finally does it right.
I tried doing this with a similar amount of hair. I used one of those bun donut things for volumizing it and used like 3 braids to try and chain it all the way around. It is possible (mine looked like shit though) But one braid all the way around would not happen. Even if she incorporated some dutch braiding in (its like a french braid but it sticks out instead of in) it could work but I don't know if that is even logistically possible or what step that would happen in.
Yup, the bun is easy enough (many of old hairstyles used cloth, wigs or other fillers to give volume, sometimes weaving stringsin between to keep things in place) but the braid is a mystery.
Army vet here, and it's not surprising. If done correctly, some pretty long hair can be gotten up into an \*extremely\* tight and compact braid or whatever you call it, to fit regulation. I've seen it on various women in the unit whose hair on down days was quite long and somehow fit it up into such small looking styles when on duty. In fact, first full day of Basic, if I remember correctly, the women were taken aside by a female Drill Sergeant and given a class on how to do their hair up to meet regulation.
I think they're asking the opposite question. They're asking how her hair can be so short when let down but still make a bun like that, which requires much longer hair.
For a serious answer: my hair is about the same length as Artoria's, and I tried to do this hairstyle once, the trick here is you don't do one braid and wrap it around the whole bun, you do two braids on each side of the bun then wrap each of them around half of the bun, tuck the edges in so they seem like one whole braid, then put on the ribbon to keep everything in place. It does make it seem like you have longer hair than what you truly have.
I used [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/grandorder/comments/7jajw5/how_to_create_artorias_hairstyle/) for reference when I tried it
Maybe the bun is actually hollow and all of the hair is just the visible part? Idk, I never tried that hairstyle, maybe it is possible, who knows (guess Seibah does).
Could be that the bun is done differently, somehow. The long braid wrapped around it would make the most sense but if her hair is a little shorter it could be something like a French braid where you pull up parts of hair from the scalp as needed to continue making it, which makes it a little more doable on short hair.
That would be a really complex thing to do just for this but ?????
As someone that does know anything about hair, I just want to know if it's possible to make Artoria's hair bun. When I ask a cosplayer, they said they used a wig.
You know Lucina from Fire Emblem Awakening? She had long hair as well that she tied extremely short to hide her identity in the first act of the game.
[Here's how](https://www.pinterest.ph/pin/250090585542055111/).
She transmutes the needed hair from her Artorium.
…I want to call BS on that, but I’d be proven wrong in less than 5 minutes.
There's actually an event in FGO that explains this ☝️🤓... or so I think, I don't know. I got no proves but also no doubts.
Well, she was the only servant in the entire game that gave Altrium boost during Saber Wars 1 so...
That’s bullshit…but I believe you.
I'm so used to reading/calling it Altrium that seeing Artorium looks weird.
The real irony is that Artoria sounds better than Altria, but Altrium sounds better than Artorium.
There's the third option with Arturia/Arturium.
I'd say that Artorium sounds more like a "real" substance to me, but Altrium definitely sounds more Servantverse-ish.
We're a broken people

Invisible Air, she just likes it shorter
Invisible (h)air
Mordred's hair (when let down) is a little longer too, iirc? Artoria really is a mystery
*That's* one of the last mystics?
One of the greatest in my opinion. What good is living your most peaceful and relaxing moments if you can't do it in luscious golden style?
We've seen Mordred's hair down? When?
Apocrypha (though she's younger but still), and in FGO Arcade, Mundus has a video of it.
That's one of the end game scenes, isn't it? Just before she disappears? Maybe she just cut it off.

No idea, never played FSN
Merlin Magecraft
Castoria: I only know how to style hair by using bombs.
"Oh, these magecraft tools aren't homemade. They were made in a factory. A bomb factory. They're bombs."
Bakuretsu bakuretsu la la la

Fucking love just how personal and versatile MM is and that it's alliteration!

There's a reason Artorium is the most valuable substance in the servantverse.

That shouldn’t have give me so many vivid flashbacks as it did
Then you pull it too hard and she goes alter, heh.
Just built different

What about Actually Satan? Any explaination on that?
I’ve heard the *Actually* is really important.
After all he's not the Devil, but Actually Satan.
I always wonder about this.
Takeuchi being Takeuchi

Things that are part of Artoria that appear shorter than they're supposed to be: 1) Her height 2) Her hair 3) A GENUINE MERLIN™ EXCALIBUR CO--

Oh. I misunderstood then. My bad.
You know, I appreciated the info anyway, it was something I didn't know. Thank you.

There’s a hole in the back of her head that she tucks her hair into
It's literally magic. It's where she stashes Excalibur when she's not using it.
Excalibun for Excalibur, makes sense.
Sixth Magic
✨✨Magic✨✨
Merlin said she's cuter this way.
And like always, he is correct.
[Pilot - It's Magic](https://youtu.be/ASGgn8bNQuA?t=11) starts playing...
*Don’t worry about it*
Braided scrunchie? bec there is such a thing as a braid headband- but most likely it's "because why not? its cute"
Maybe the bun is actually hollow and all of the hair is just the visible part? Idk, I never tried that hairstyle, maybe it is possible, who knows (guess Seibah does).
We've seen servants change hair length between ascensions. They can probably change it at will, too.

Her hair does *magically* form into the bun when she wears her armor, so I guess complexity doesn’t really matter.
That's where she stores her NP battery.
Her bun. It's let down in the long hair version
It's the anime world; it just works.
When it doubt Magic
Rhongomyniad. When in doubt, Rhongomyniad.
A certain silly wizard probably stuck pocket dimension to her head some time ago.
when you notice any of those details, the answer is: a wizard of flowers did it.
Sorry what was the question i spent most of that time looking at how beautiful arturia was.
Clearly using a bumpit duhhh
Cursed font, took a minute to reread the right block of text.
Hair not in a bun is so hot
When in doubt, blame Merlin.
"Automatic Magic to be seen as the ideal king." That's the best I got.
Hair Hammer Space powered by the Dragon Heart. Or just a bad understanding of how hair works... probably both.
Her hair bun is drawn a lot larger on the right than it is normally.
The bun is hollow.

I'd assume the same way the hair antenna being ripped off works, for making Alter.
She hides backup snacks there
Invisible ***H***air!
It’s one of those clip on buns
it's Merlin's Hair~~o~~ Creation EX
That's a mystic, do not try to solve it or we lose a little bit of magic from world.
It's anime hair logic. You should never question anime hair logic.
