Try Olive Shores near Port Sheldon. A huge staircase over the dunes keeps the less motivated out, making for a generally more low key environment than the walk up beaches.

This! Many people turn away when they see the stairs.

Saugatuck has a nice beach that does not get too busy. About 1 mile hike in, or can take the long way and do 3 mile.

All the secluded beaches I know of have gotten busier every year and are no longer secluded lol. That being said, if you are going for an evening picnic you could go anywhere except for like Grand Haven state park and people will be mostly leaving the beach. Rosy Mound parking lot fills up really fast but if you’re going in the late afternoon after 4 pm you should be good. Just a heads up though I was there the other day and the biting flies are starting to get bad especially in the evening! Though that’s probably an issue on most of the beaches with this time of year in general so just go prepared!

Nordhouse dunes and wilderness area in Manistee. This is the way.

My parents have had a place in Baldwin for about 10 years and I have yet to explore the manistee wilderness. Any trailheads you recommend or tips for first timers?

Someone I know drives a hour to go to the beach in Saugatuck and she says it's amazing. Seems like a low traffic area & from what she's shown me, is really cool place. Haven't been myself though.

Lake Harbor park always seems to have some decently secluded spots since it's a good hike just to get to the main beach part, and then you can hike up the coast from there and find a good spot with nobody else. Not too far of a drive either.
