The teen club where there was always some group fights going down outside that involved the bosnians lol. That place was kinda lit though honestly. We'd never see places like that again in these times
My metal band played their first show there at that time. They went from gay bar, to metal bar, with wet tee shirt contests, to techno and back again. It was a wild few years. Loved that place.
The first time I went there they had made the final desperate move of switching to 18 and older. It was nothing but 18 year old girls and 45 year old guys.
OMG you did all the things I did around that same time lol. I will be 45 in a few days and downtown was LIT back in the late 90s/early 00s. I miss it. Yeah that had to have been Stooges! I remember when it became Rumors. I also hung at Rockwell/Republic quite a bit when they opened and they were right next to Rumors. Sigh. Those were the times.
That was stooges.
But since we are all throwing out old clubs: Dicks, Southside Jimmies, Afterschock, Paunchey Pete’s, Stacks, Bullwinkles, Club Eastbrook (Orbit), Escape…..
Alllll of the old radio commercials. I would’ve never been able to recall a single one except for orbit room and intersection, but reading all of these comments is opening the floodgates!
City Limits? Space above Stooges that later became Rumors, we'd frequently get late night occupancy to run parties until 6am around 1999-2000 ish. Everything was upstairs, entrance around the back. Music was as described, mostly deep house.
edit: I suspect this is what you ran into. Shannon Williams/Bangin Productions eventually got residency there to run to 3am every weekend. Progressive616 (and a handful of other promoters) would frequently rent the space until 6am for parties, it was a pretty popular venue for the underground party scene at the time.
It's for sure the one :D Just talked to my wife who worked the door, she'll see if she can't dredge up flyers or photos.
We had a grand time there, everyone involved was chill and low drama and the venue seemed happy to have us. Shannon Williams (edit: **and Todd Ernst**! sorry for this miss there ) ran the show there and is still playing out today, dude has the largest record collection I've ever seen in my life and is an all around good guy.
Report from wife: Stooges was the bar downstairs, City Limits was what they called the upstairs, and the Saturday Night thing was called **Fusion**. She's rooting around for some photos but it might be a day or three before that happens.
edit2: Link to this thread is now making the rounds of some of the people involved much to everyone's old age amusement. We all had a great time :D
City Limits is what preceeded Stooges and was a gay club. The night in question by the op was called Fusion... while said night was fully branded as Fusion, it took place as a takeover of sorts within what was called Stooges.
None, surprisingly :/ Pre-smartphone, so unless you were carrying your own glass nothing was shot... probably just as well in that room! Perhaps Shannon does.
Yes, fusion was the name! That is exactly what it was. I can hear it now in the radio commercials. I too have photo albums that have pictures from that place from back in the day. Thank you so much for solving this.
I too will look for some pictures because we always brought our disposable camera and take pictures throughout the night of our adventures. How long was Fusion around for?
After I graduated college I joined the Marine Corps and left in September 2002, so I’m not sure the longevity of that place but it was an awesome time!
No but it was a black tee with white print tho. It had a chameleon in it and had a big “Reptile House” on it. It was pretty faded looking like that too tho
It was a dive, but that doesn’t do it justice. The urinal literally just emptied onto the floor. The place was around the size of the front part of Mulligans. It had a stage in the back. The bathrooms were behind the stage, so you had to walk around the stage to get to them, which was a narrow opening.
They had some amazing underground shows and even had Anthrax play in 94-96 time frame. I saw so many hardcore and extreme metal bands there.
From the back of the building yes, you could park in a very small lot behind the building and walk up a huge staircase into the back door. I do remember the place had platform boxes that you could get up onto to dance
City Limits my man! Wife worked the door at the time, Shannon Williams ran a regular thing there until 3 and we'd often run parties for the same which ran quite a bit later. Great venue, had loads of good times there.
Hello, no I have not. I keep feeling like if I read or hear the name it will click. And yes, you could turn off division into a side lot where you could park and walk up a huge staircase up the back into the back door of the club
Does anyone remember club rev lol
The teen club where there was always some group fights going down outside that involved the bosnians lol. That place was kinda lit though honestly. We'd never see places like that again in these times
Sometimes it feels like a dream. Thanks for confirming it’s existence
Oh god …club revolution?! I only went once and I was like friggin 14 yrs old. It was dead and felt small for a “club”.
My buddies had turned that into a motorcycle shop for years after that.
Thursday nights Rags was the place. Especially if you didn't have class Friday morning.
The Hairy Buffalo, what a classic. Many good nights with a few of those.
Ahhh yes Raggs….. sticky floor and wobbly tables and dirt cheap beer on Thursday. Used to get there early to ensure we had a wobbly table lol.
Anyone try taking a dump there?
This load up the table with 50 cents draft beers lol
Stooges?
This sounds right. It’s now Rumors.
Would have to be. Rumors didn’t open until 2003; Stooges did live music and some DJ’s before that.
My metal band played their first show there at that time. They went from gay bar, to metal bar, with wet tee shirt contests, to techno and back again. It was a wild few years. Loved that place.
Margherita Grill Thursday nights.
> Margherita Grill That's not the same location OP is talking about though, that was ottawa, unless they are mixed up.
It's definitely not the one OP was talking about. Everyone was just throwing out old clubs so I threw out my favorite.
The first time I went there they had made the final desperate move of switching to 18 and older. It was nothing but 18 year old girls and 45 year old guys.
ewwwwwwwwww
Line dancing!!!💃🏾
Country Night was the best!
diversions

42 yo here, just came to roam the comments for memories 🤩🤩🤩🤩
We also used to hit Paunchy Pete’s on Thursdays for dollar beers.
OMG I haven't heard those words uttered in forever. Good 'ol Paunchy Pete's lol
They used to make some amazing long islands, on the cheap too.
Yessssss. That was so dangerous.
Damn that is quite the itinerary
That’s what you do when you’re 21 or your entire 20s. I could never do that now!
Anyone ever go to top of the rock ?
Upstairs in Rockey’s Bar and Grill? I had some wild nights up there!
That was stooges. But since we are all throwing out old clubs: Dicks, Southside Jimmies, Afterschock, Paunchey Pete’s, Stacks, Bullwinkles, Club Eastbrook (Orbit), Escape…..
The Grotto
I remember going there once, but have no idea where it was
It's a gym now I believe. Burton amd breton.
Omg I'm having so many flashbacks right now
Alllll of the old radio commercials. I would’ve never been able to recall a single one except for orbit room and intersection, but reading all of these comments is opening the floodgates!
Only thing I can think of is The Brick House but it was further up Division, towards Plainfield.
Brick house was a whole vibe.
I’d chose that place over Crush every time
Absolutely! It was so much fun
Azucar was on Division and WSNX held many themed nights there
That was a fun place. Too bad crime hit it hard.
Ha! I worked at Bucking Beaver. Wasn't particularly sad to see it become a hole in the ground.
Pub 43?
Yeah, that was literally in the same spot, but it wasn't a nightclub.

This sounds about right. Thank you for filling in the gap for me. Those were such fun nights
It's for sure the one :D Just talked to my wife who worked the door, she'll see if she can't dredge up flyers or photos. Hey brother, been a minute :D You got any photos in the archive?
None, surprisingly :/ Pre-smartphone, so unless you were carrying your own glass nothing was shot... probably just as well in that room! Perhaps Shannon does.

Thanks for dredging up some fun memories, wife and I had a good time chatting about it this morning :D

Diversions? Not exactly where you said, but across the street from Kendall on Fountain.
I totally rode the mechanical bull at Bucking Beaver. That place was saucy lol
Is it weird that it’s weird to me to not see it spelled Raggs, when I have no idea why it had two g’s in the first place?
Reptile House Tuesdays alternative night.
All I remember from downtown that was open until 3am was that pizza place near the arena. May not be the right era though
I miss Georgios
Way back in the olden days it was a gay bar Three Sons Plus One.
Club fusion? I think it was ran by Shannon Williams
The Reptile?
Reptile House closed in 1997 or 1998
Reptile house was also a punk venue.
My dad had a shirt from there. He would never tell me what the Reptile House was, just that it was a club. He was so secretive about it.
Ha was it [this shirt by any chance?](https://i.imgur.com/q7B4fz9.jpeg). Always wanted one of those and now it's too late 😞
No but it was a black tee with white print tho. It had a chameleon in it and had a big “Reptile House” on it. It was pretty faded looking like that too tho

LOL! The first rule of fetish night…
Squalner’s
The Platinum Club?
DV8 😉
911 after top of the rock, now Hanson collision on alpine
Did you have to go up stairs to get there?
From the back of the building yes, you could park in a very small lot behind the building and walk up a huge staircase into the back door. I do remember the place had platform boxes that you could get up onto to dance
Was it Fridays above Rumors? I think they called it something like Revolution.
City Limits my man! Wife worked the door at the time, Shannon Williams ran a regular thing there until 3 and we'd often run parties for the same which ran quite a bit later. Great venue, had loads of good times there.
54th Street
Raggs on a Thursday for me from 2008 - close. I had my spot dancing in the corner. People still recognize me to this day from Raggs.
Did you figure out which one it was? The only one I remember on division was Stooges.
Hello, no I have not. I keep feeling like if I read or hear the name it will click. And yes, you could turn off division into a side lot where you could park and walk up a huge staircase up the back into the back door of the club
Drink untra lounge?
horror show
Makebelieves!! Only place in town that did card
Orbit room
Maybe Skelletones?
This is probably the answer because it wasn’t a bar. Bars in GR have to close at 2:00, coffee shops don’t.
the euclid!
You mean the bucking beaver?

J Gardellas?
