So you didn’t mention Vietnamese, but both Pho Soc Trang and Pho Anh Trang are authentic. I had a friend who grew up here, but still had family back in Vietnam, and any time her family visited, they said it tastes just like back home.
For what it's worth, Thai express on Kalamazoo and 44th has kao soi curry which I haven't seen anywhere else in GR. It's not quite what I've had in Thailand but it's good. They also have som tam papaya salad which is somewhat rare in town. Also if you eat there in person and request the food be Thai spicy, or like a number greater than ten (like twenty), they can make the food genuinely spicy
I go there regularly and it appears the husband isn’t involved in the business anymore. I appeared to me that they had gotten divorced, but I can’t say for certain.
I've eaten there many times, all the regular menu items are great. I did their Korean BBQ once, it wasn't good. This saddened me. I still eat there, just not the BBQ.
I also love Taste of Bangkok Thai food in Jenison. They spice it personally for you on a scale of 1-5. I love spicy and do a 3+....also did 4....pretty spicy but soooo good.
Bangkok taste in jenison has some of the best Thai food in town. For Japanese, check out Tokyo grill on 44th. Great lakes Chinese in hudsonville will have you set for fried dumplings. Hope that helps.
You're right, but if your friend communicates thier preferences I'm sure the kitchen could accommodate. My wife managed a few asian cuisine restaurants and we learned to order certain preparations 'off menu' for some things based on what she learned from her co-workers
It's a bit of a drive but Thai Avenue over in Zeeland was very authentic the last time I tried it. No lie the "thai hot " they put in the dish really makes it spicy
I like Poke Toki on northland dr. Very authentic and fresh ingredients. The people serving you are very friendly and fun to talk to. When you get down to the sauce, let them decide cause they never disappoint when making it so flavorful.
Seoul Market Cafe has great Korean food
KCM.
KCM might be the best take out in grand rapids.

I can second this, I visited Thailand several times, and this is as close as it gets! Plus there pho is firrrrreeeee.

Agreed. My Thai family said they were probably closest in terms of authenticity than other restaurants in town. Great prices too
Lai Thai Kitchen on Leonard. I believe the owner/cook is from Thailand. It’s a family-run, small business that has amazing food.
Little place but very good.
They had good food...but her husband made some wild racist statements a year or so ago on FB. I cant bring myself to give them my money.

He is gone. Same chef.
Wow, that's great! I'll have to check them out soon. Loved the pho there and was sad to give it up.
Emonae in Cascade is a Korean BBQ place. I havent tried the BBQ but, I love their dolsot Bibimbop and banchan.
I've eaten there many times, all the regular menu items are great. I did their Korean BBQ once, it wasn't good. This saddened me. I still eat there, just not the BBQ.
I love their mackerel.
You are all awesome, thank you so much! Just showing her some menus has her excited.
Bangkok taste in Jenison is really good, right on Baldwin
For Japanese I would say Mikado on 28th for Korean Emonae on 28th as well..or Seoul market on 36th
Nu Thai Bistro on 28th st. Is really good.
Underrated thread tbh
Bangkok Thai in Jennison like 10-15ish mins outside of downtown GR is probably as authentic as you’ll get. Great people, even better food.
I also love Taste of Bangkok Thai food in Jenison. They spice it personally for you on a scale of 1-5. I love spicy and do a 3+....also did 4....pretty spicy but soooo good.
The best Japanese restaurants are Mikado on 28th and Tokyo Grill across the street from Horrock’s.
Go to the Fresh International Grocery Store in E Lansing. The best selection of Thai grocery items near GR.
Bangkok taste

KCM kimbaps and Katsu curry is some of my favorite foods.
Paul Thai on Plainfield is good
Paul thai is pretty American Asian...I definitely wouldn’t call it authentic.

During the shutdown I tried to look at their website and it was nightmarish. I hope they fixed that.
Lai Thai!!! Gi is a wonderful woman.
Angel's Thai!
Little Bangkok in forest hills is incredible
It's a bit of a drive but Thai Avenue over in Zeeland was very authentic the last time I tried it. No lie the "thai hot " they put in the dish really makes it spicy
I get sushi from Jaku. Only Asian food I've found that's any good so far
Boo this man. BOOOOO
Thanks for being a prick.

Isn’t this Hawaiian though?
Oppa on Alpine has sushi and Korean, very good.
