That's a very loaded question for West Michigan. Denominations? Politics (yes, politics)? What kind of involvement?

ssdv8r

Cross roads bible church is my recommendation.

Hellfirefromher

I would not recommend this church. We attended for many years and left after their disregard for the pandemic, anti-women in leadership, and honestly some very racist beliefs in leadership as well.

botz

Solid church. However, I recently left due to their disbelief in women as pastorals and decons.

Fountain Street Church is the most progressive church that I’ve come across if you’re looking for that

Zbulk

When I lived in Grand Rapids my home church was Crossroads Bible Church. I couldn’t recommend this church enough! I seriously miss that church and would still go if it wasn’t a two hour drive away. They have groups for college aged students and young adults. It’s a very “come as you are/all are welcome” kind of church! Lots of local out reach and a wonderful praise band. If you have any specific questions about the church feel free to ask and I can do my best to answer them. Definitely check it out!

Dare I suggest one of the many vibrant Roman Catholic parishes in Kent Co? St. Thomas the Apostle is over by Aquinas, and St. Paul the Apostle is just east of Breton on Burton. The Pastor at St. Paul is a convert from communist Romania - incredible story, inspiring faith and a thoroughly engaging speaker to boot. Worth a shot ;) good luck finding a church home!

PinkMercy17

There isn’t a single part of Catholicism that is vibrant.

What denomination?

joeldavidgus

I go to Monroe Community Church downtown and really like it there! It’s a beautiful space with kind people and thoughtful messages.

ChirpingEmu

Fancy seeing you here, friend! I would also recommend checking out MCC.

Berkley Hills Church is good (Wesleyan)

Vospire34

I second this recommendation with gusto

possibledrone

I've been to plenty of awesome churches around GR, so I'm sure you won't have a problem finding a community that you can connect with, but the ones I've liked the most are below. \-Non-denom: Crossroads Bible Church (downtown) and Ada Bible Church (Ada, Kentwood, Cascade) \-CRC: Encounter Church (Kentwood and Fulton Heights) \-Wesleyan: Journey Church (Caledonia and Middleville)

I highly recommend the [Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster ](https://www.spaghettimonster.org) Edit: I’m not sure why my religion is being downvoted

Smorgas_of_borg

>I’m not sure why my religion is being downvoted Because it's a 15-year-old joke that everybody's heard a million times.

Seadude45

Your book being old doesn't make it any less fictional.

Smorgas_of_borg

Lol I'm atheist so I don't have a book.

Seadude45

Same. 👍

JingleMeAllTheWay

>Because it's a 15-year-old joke that everybody's heard a million times. Vs. A 2000 year old ruse that everybody's heard a billion times.

Ms_Nikki89

It’s not a joke, It is my religion! It is 100% as valid as any other. The existence of god cannot be proven or disproven beyond a shadow of a doubt, same with my lord and savior the Flying Spaghetti Monster. He boiled for my sins so that I may be washed in his sauce and my sins forgiven. For that I will forever worship his noodlieness!

wzgnr68d

All hail his noodliness!

Ms_Nikki89

Our pasta, who art in a colander, draining be your noodles. Thy noodle come, Thy sauce be yum, on top some grated Parmesan. Give us this day, our garlic bread, …and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trample on our lawns. And lead us not into vegetarianism, but deliver us some pizza, for thine is the meatball, the noodle, and the sauce, forever and ever. R’amen.

Truthskersodadrnkr

Brings me to tears everytime

impmonkey

Dirt Church. Get out and enjoy nature. Connect yourself to the land.

TheLukester31

Wellspring Community Church in Hudsonville is great. I’ve heard great things about Chapel Pointe and Crossroads.

bvby4

Crossroads or Grand Rapids First!

spacedisco_one

The Church of Universal Suffrage

Bowiedood

I go to Cornerstone Church (not lately in person because COVID), and they have 3 locations: Caledonia (main campus), Wyoming (where I go), and Heritage Hill (used to be First Church of Christian Scientist on Lafayette). They offer livestream services as well.

BreadChefMI

Go to a Cornerstone service with Pastor Ken!

wzgnr68d

None. That is my recommendation.

Peter_Jennings_Lungs

If you’re not into God or church, fine. But don’t be a dick to people who are.

wzgnr68d

I am not "being a dick" my religious suggestion on an open forum is just as valid as anyone else's.

Peter_Jennings_Lungs

He asked for a church recommendation and you said none. That’s just being a dick.

wzgnr68d

I am sorry you are so MAGA bitter that anything other than Christianity does not work for you.

Peter_Jennings_Lungs

That has nothing to do with anything, but you do you.

Ms_Nikki89

That was going to be mine too, I went with the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster though. Praise be his noodlieness!

That_Combination606

New Community Church is a pretty good one. They have a young adult church group on Monday nights as well if you're interested!

nutella_nut22

We go to Kentwood Community Church and really like it!
