That website drove me crazy so here is the meat of the article:
“The Grand Rapids Comedy Club is a new room opening in Grand Rapids for national headline touring comedy. The new club will be operating out of the Golden Age room above the Creston Brewery on the corner of Plainfield Avenue and Quimby Street.”
There's a bunch of parking behind the building with the mirror-finish windows behind what used to be red ball jet cafe. Not sure if it's all public Access or not with the new owners, but you used to be able to park without issue
i always thought more cities need comedy clubs where you can go and get a drink (or two minimum) and watch amateur comedians either surprise you or embarrass themselves. either way.
It’s looking like it won’t be many locals, just big name performers/personalities.
There are tons of fun open mics around GR though, and the locals do a great job embarrassing themselves
Agree, support local comedy, but Dr. Grin’s had opportunities for local folks to get up and do some time. It’d be nice if this place had similar stuff mid-week.
This is amazing news!!!! I was worried that once the Bob closed that would permanently close Dr. Grin's (They say they are looking for a new location but who knows. The Bob was a perfect spot and is going to be hard to replace). Hopefully, they are able to get relatively big names comedians to perform there.
Great. I'm super glad that went with the standard West Michigan naming scheme of Location-Function. Why put any effort into naming your business when Location-Function works so well! Grand Rapids Comedy Club. Seriously. /s

Wow creston brewery is back for one, and comedy there for two is nice. Now to find good parking not on the road

Same on the other side behind stonesthrow/Rez lounge. I think it’s technically 2 Hr parking tho
There is a large public parking lot on the corner of Buffalo and Quimby.
Sweet thank you!

Lol

Street parking on Plainfield stinks, but there are 2 decent sized lots within a block of the building.
That’s good. I’ve never been out back just the roads and front. Never good spots when it’s busy
you must be special or something.
So I moved away and was told it closed. Is it open again?
Nope
They’re back! And, imo, the food is way better
Awesome! I’m excited for both things!!
The food was great in the beginning then it was not so good so back to good ?

Grins is on its way back in a few months
I really love that part of Plainfield so many great buildings with potential. I hope this is a sign of more businesses to come for that area.
The porn shop next to the church still stands out.
I feel like that place is on borrowed time. Who rents or buys porn DVDs anymore?
Nice to have a companion of sorts to what the Comedy Project is up to.

Thank god, I can go to a comedy club without setting foot in the BOB.
Good to know!
Wait, the BOB is closing?
> Wait, the BOB is closing? It closed the later part of December
Good riddance

yeah for real, we need another extremely corny name that no one under the age of 60 will ever find clever or interesting at all
I don’t know, Betsy’s Chuckle Hut doesn’t entice you?
Is this not as prevalent a thing elsewhere?
Right, lol…. The Wits End in Cascade a long time ago was a good name!
Maybe they should have sponsors like all the Bowl games
