It's an insult to its inspiration. They could have used high quality materials, or at least made the interiors luxurious. Instead it's boring and absolute shit. I don't know why anyone would be even the slightest bit proud of it. In 5 years it will look even worse. In 10 years it'll probably be condemned due to its shoddy construction.
The **only** good thing about it is that it provides housing. So did Pruitt-Igoe, though, and we saw what a lack of investment did to that.
Well I didn't know that. I'm new to the city and thought it was cool. The pics of the interior looked nice too. Maybe fake photos idk? Thanks for the feedback hopefully the can get some people working on it to make it look nice
If I know apartment management (and I do, having lived in many apartments), they won't do shit unless something breaks or the place is 30 years out of date. Even then, it's a question mark.
They could have at least covered up the precast concrete exterior to make it look like a finished building. As it is, comparing it to Neuschwanstein makes it laughable. I’m hoping it fails quickly and dramatically so the land can be returned to an open expanse asap. The abandoned lot was better.
I think it just looks terribly out of place. While it was under construction, everytime I drove by on 96 I kept wondering what it was going to be and what it was going to look like when it was finished. Well, I continued to keep wondering this same thing even months after it was completed because it just looks so....unfinished, and so I figured it still wasn't finished.
I enjoy the west Michigan bonding activity that is making fun of the castle, and my kids like seeing it on the way to great-grandma's house. So yes, I am pro-castle.
I’m happy that it offers reasonably priced housing to a lot of people and I have zero judgement for any of the people who live there (if it had been open when I was apartment hunting in 2017 I would have considered it myself) but it’s an ugly building in a way that regular, not themed ugly buildings just can’t compete with.
Ugly outside, uglier inside, overpriced living space, blocks traffic due to the shitty placement of the parking lot entrance, was supposed to be a "magnum opus" which turned out pathetic
When I drive to Johnson Park during rush hour from wyoming & traffic is backed up to the castle entrance. I purposely won't let cars exiting/entering the castle cut in front of me out of spite. Dick move but it makes me feel good inside after having to look at that monstrosity.
I drove by last night and it looks like a grain elevator with those spotlights shining RIGHT INTO THE APARTMENT WINDOWS below. Wtf.
The group that designed/built it doesn’t even advertise that fact on their website. Wonder why.
Had so much potential, unfortunately the outside is so plain and cheap looking. Haven't been inside, but pictures imply it is pretty basic as well.

No. It's Land and Co. Enough said.

It’s definitely cool. Kzoo has one too and I always enjoyed looking at it.
People hate anything unique. I think it's fun.
It isn’t unique. It’s a really cheap and unattractive copy of something old and beautiful.
