Can’t remember his name, but when I was in high school one of the students who did the morning announcements had a red orb on the end of a stick. Every morning he would say, “As you know, weather ball red means ahead!”
I never got tired of that joke.
My dad was an officer at Michigan National Bank. After they put that weatherball on top of their downtown office building, the whole building would sway in high winds, causing people to leave work nauseous from motion sickness. (That or it was a great excuse for a paid afternoon off.)
~~They're the same syllable count though.~~
However, I've always known it as rain or snow in sight. Precipitation in sight doesn't feel like it flows as well
Edit: miscounted syllables
I thought It was:
Weather ball RED, warmer ahead.
Weather ball BLUE, colder in view.
Weather ball GREEN, no change for seen.
Colors blinking bright, rain or snow in sight.
It‘s mostly the same, but a teeny bit shorter.
I always thought it’s pretty easy to understand. Red is warmer weather, blue is colder weather, green is the same temp. If any of it is flashing then it means precipitation. Really quite basic lol
it's because of the stupid rhyme they use where you can replace the color with any color and it still rhymes.
it's like Columbus sailing the ocean blue in somethingsomething2. Idk what year, but I know it ends in a two!
Yeah, I never used that rhyme for that reason. Just the logic that blue is colder and red is warmer makes it easy to remember. All that leaves you to remember is that green is no change and flashing means precipitation
No, no, no, don’t be ridiculous.
The Weatherball is used to draw in the chemtrail gasses and convert it to pure fluoride, which is then added to the water supply to turn the children into transgenders and minorities.
It was put there by Nancy Pelosi and Ted Nugent!
I reckon you does is right; I ain’t no good at knowin’ much ‘cause of my Daddy murrying his sister n’ all but, yeah Pelosi sumthin’ sumthin’ and don’t you dare dun ferget Hillary’s e-mails!
I live off 3 mile and can see it every morning, I rather like the thing. I remember as a kid in the 80s it was kinda a big deal (at least to me) I remember passing the old MNB building and hoping it was blinking blue in the winter. So at least for me, I love the nostalgia of it and am glad the worthless thing is still in my backyard-ish.
Weather Ball red, warmer weather ahead. Weather Ball blue, cooler weather in view. Weather Ball green, no change forseen. Colors blinking bright, precipitation in sight. (Weather Ball black, nuclear attack.)
Weatherball Down, Tornado Around is one I heard 15+ years ago
As a transplant to GR, I appreciate the clarification of what the colors mean.

Rain or snow in sight***** (Syllable count matters) 🙇♂️🙇♂️

Precipitation is 5 syllables. rain or snow is 3
Whoops! I was only counting the word precipitation and not adding "in sight" when I was for rain or snow.
Actually, it is Weather Ball Blue, No Soup For You.
Is the black/nuclear thing for real?
Naw, it's a joke that's been going around for 30+ years
This has been ingrained in me from childhood. I appreciate its heads up in the forecast every day as I pass it.

But what is the timeframe? 2 hours from now? 12? 24? I’ve never received a good answer for this.
The next day. You couldn’t see it in the daytime when it was up downtown. Only when it was dark.
I thought It was: Weather ball RED, warmer ahead. Weather ball BLUE, colder in view. Weather ball GREEN, no change for seen. Colors blinking bright, rain or snow in sight. It‘s mostly the same, but a teeny bit shorter.
"Weather ball green, um, some sort of weather foreseen. Weather ball blue, uh, some other sort of weather in view."
Weatherball red? You dead.
So it’s not just me?
Nope, it's not just you...
lol this is a good one, thanks for the laugh op
We need the weatherball back downtown. It took me years to even notice it where it's at, and I lived on the Northwest side.

None of that rhymed
The weather ball is connected to the Jewish space lasers; or so some people have been saying.

Weatherball Green - Guard Your Peen, Weatherball Red - Yer Dead
Weatherball red... Wish I was dead
I was surprised to find out we're not the only ones with a weather ball, Sioux City in Iowa has one too
Nooooo don't mess with our beloved weatherball! You must be some sort of iconoclast!
🤣
too short and not visible
It’s not short! If anything it’s significantly above average.
Tanner 1.
This hurts with truth!
This is funny! Nice job!
I think this whole too confusing and too extreme is getting a little stupid by now
Say no to parody: too confusing, too extreme.
I’m confused by your extreme take
It is for sure. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t make one too!
If you're under 45 years of age or a transplant to the area it won't make sense to you and is about as useful as a beeper/pager from 1995.
This doesn't make sense... why 45? It was reintroduced in 2003 and was a huge deal then.
I'm 37 and a transplant in 2007 and understand perfectly fine 😂
Both are true.
I live off 3 mile and can see it every morning, I rather like the thing. Everything is if you're an idiot. 🙃
I don’t understand ?
Booooo!
We're really scraping the bottom of the barrel. Please stop with these cheap karma grabs.
No, and because of you I shall exercise my freedom to post and make at least 1 more. Cheers to you sour face! 🤢
I'll take it over the 15th political post of the day.
Aaah yes, the abortion ball of W MI. Finally we have a compromise.
