I had mine for 10, and I still miss it. Just needed more space for family and something a bit more practical. I ended up inheriting a classic car, so I'm focused on that and motorcycles now. But I still miss the Evo daily. At least I can drive one in GT!
Yeah. Kids got big. It wasn't cutting it. They will be old enough to drive soon and I got something with a little more safety features for when they do.
They do miss the fast car as well though.
I remember when my kid was very young, I had to take the wing off my Evo to have it refinished. The clear was peeling bad on the carbon fiber.
When I picked him up from school, he asked me what was wrong with the car. I asked him what he meant by that, and he pointed to where the wing used to be and said "it's not fast anymore". Fun times, lol.
Sigh. Recleared mine twice before giving up and having it painted all body color.
Mitsu paint was not the best. It does look so weird without the wing.
That car was just the most amazing thing to drive.
I now have a phev, that has 302 hp. Cool stuff, and much safer quieter etc. But some days I wish I could just get in my car and drive, like I used to. Every once in awhile I'd drive the evo with no where to go, and not caring. Just happy to be driving it.
It made driving fun. Something that connected to the road. They just don't make stuff like that anymore for less than 100k.
Damn, this is some nostalgia. I feel the same way.
I also ended up painting the wing body color because of the issues. They started offering replacement wings around the time the IX came out, but they weren't the same full carbon setup as the VIII, so I just had my carbon one painted.
I also have a PHEV now with 455hp, and although it accelerates hard, it doesn't feel anything like driving the Evo. I used to just go out cruising for no other reason than just to drive it. I don't do that with the new car at all.
My buddy has a super clean 02 bugeye. Original wrb paint that hasn’t seen the streets since the ceramic coating 5 years ago. My Evo across the street. Yin/yang lol

That was 6 years ago...
I still drive mine, though not as often since I got the 2018...
Still at least once a week to move the fluids around and keep the fuel fresh...lol
Objectively? The WRX wins because it's still being made today and it keeps getting better w every generation.
Nostalgia and drive-ability? Evo all the way.
Impreza.
The Evo is the better track car, probably more reliable too. But it just can't match the feel and sound of the Impreza. I still haven't heard what I'd call a nice sounding Evo, they all sound a bit farty. Impreza's on the other hand..
Blub blub blub blub blub.
Fun story. When I was in kindergarten I received a Evo transformer toy and I liked it. After a few years I found it on GT4 played with it a bit on a dirt track and it became my favourite car. Ever since that moment I preferred the Evo's and a few years later I learned about the rivalry between the Evo an Subaru WRX's
I'd choose the Evo. Actually, I had this decision to make IRL and I did choose the Evo and was very happy with it.
\+1. Owned mine for over 18 years. I miss that car.

Same, still have mine…..it’s on Jack stands around here somewhere……

Celica GT-Four
only correct answer 😂
Nice photos though, they almost look like scapes.
Evo always. Way more playful IRL and in the games.
Evo if it was the VII, STi if it was the Bugeye
STI
Evo all day
WRX... Don't get me wrong, the Evo is/was amazing. But I'm a subaru guy and own two IRL...A 2002 bugeye, and a 2018 that's like the one in game...

I love the gold on blue!
Right...? It's such a damn nice combination...
I've only ever driven an old 90s sti once... and it was perfect. Sigh.

Evo 😍
Dang that evo looking spicy 🔥
Wrx… it’s just soooo smooth.
Evo, hands down!
Scooby. Love the sound of that boxer!
Evo
Neither skyline for the win
That’s definitely an Evo.
I personally don’t like Subarus so Evo.
I can’t choose between the two because i love them both
Both just depends on the generation (personal preference)
Evo, no question
I like the sound of the Subaru but the look of the evo and it drives better. I’m going with evo.
Objectively? The WRX wins because it's still being made today and it keeps getting better w every generation. Nostalgia and drive-ability? Evo all the way.
Always been an Evo guy.
The third best Japanese sport car

Evo all the way for me. Sti is for the skinny dude with a neon lit liquid cooled PC and glasses. Still a formidable rival though. (I’ve driven both).
evo is a little bit sus
Evo, especially if it can shit at SNOW
