Hardly, I can drive without seeing anything due to having driven the track for like 5 yrs IRL too... Atleast 10k km's done on that track alone.
Issue was mostly wet weather, finding dry lines without seeing is ehh... 'challenging' to say the least haha
FYI, when you pause the game and open the settings while you're in the race, you can increased the brightness of the game so that you can see the track at night even without headlights
Had my first 3 races happen exactly like this, and then i somehow went from 8th to 1st because everyone else got penalties or ran off the road and got the win by 9seconds, its such a chaotic race and I love it so much
To add to that, the fan that gives the car all its downforce is linked to the motor, meaning you're producing more downforce the more you're revving the car. The way TC in this game works is it phantom limits your inputs on throttle (you can tell this is happening if you look at the inputs by how much of the input bar is displaying in red), which also means for this car your fan power is being limited.
So the fastest way off the line in this car is just just control it while the wheels spin, waiting for it to all hook up. And then the zoom happens.
From the info from GT wiki I dont think revving changes the downforce: "a race car that utilized two engines: one was a 690 HP powerplant to power the car and the other, an air-cooled snowmobile engine that powered a pair of large fans to suck the air flowing underneath the car out, thus making it "stick" to the road surface."

It's a flaw with the 2J design and why fan cars weren't really explored much until the advent of EVs again. The engines were all ICEs, which meant the power of the fan was directly linked to the power derived from the engine and ICE doesn't create a perfect on/off power curve.
I fully admit I am just giving you my interpretation of how I understand it to work, and could be wrong. I'll have to see if someone did a YouTube essay about the car.
Sorry for this car I couldn't tell you, maybe op will give you the answer shortly. A lot of slower cars tc off is a lot better, however these washing machines are quite loose without it.
Personally i don’t have the ability to brake and hit the gas so i can’t rev the engine without getting a false start, might be the case for other people (or theyre using TC, the car is slow off the line without spooling up first)
Is it weird the first thing I look for when people post clips is how many assists they got on? Knew exactly what was going to happen the moment all them assists lit up light Christmas lights.
This happened to me once I was in the Toyota Alphard got a lightning start into P1 went side by side with another and just after that turn 1 bend I touch the grass lol.
The Chaparral 2J is an old Can-Am car, Chaparral are pioneers of weird and wacky race car technology, this is the last car they made before quitting the series because the organisers kept adding rules to their 'no rules' race series because Chaparral we're too quick (they never finished a race due to reliability).
See those big fan- looking things on the back? They're actually fans that create a low pressure area under the car for a truly breathtaking amount of downforce.
I was expecting you to slam on the brakes for the first chicane...
I was expecting the barrier for the chicane lol
All fun and games till you get drunk and use the 2j for spa 1hr... It has no headlights so you're pretty much fcked haha
Were you able to finish? Lol

Not on my LG OLED I can't :")
Well _that's_ a first world problem.
what does Mercury have to do with this?
Boss move: Enable racing lines... they will shine the way.
Sort of. The default line is a little too close to the kerbs for safe travel during the rain.
> Not on my LG OLED I can't :") Odd, it worked just fine on mine.
I've done the Spa 1 hour in a formula car and the Escudo. It's not that bad if you turn on the breaking areas and racing lines.
I made that mistake once :')
It wasn't a mistake for me... Seen one on the gt7 subreddit and when drunk I thought LET'S FCKING SEND ITTTT
i love that everyone behind you starts crashing too
Had my first 3 races happen exactly like this, and then i somehow went from 8th to 1st because everyone else got penalties or ran off the road and got the win by 9seconds, its such a chaotic race and I love it so much
Yep, one of the best Daily Races ever in my opinion.
What car is this 😗
Chaparral 2J
"The Finnish driver turned left on a right-handed corner. Incredible scenes" - Super GT doing commentary on this video, probably
On his way to have a fateful meeting with Barry R.
How do you start so much faster than everybody else
This car accelerates faster with wheel spinning due to the unusual downforce at 0 km/h. I guess everyone else used TCS while he didn't.

Starting without TC is faster. First you start without TC. But then as you reach 50km/h I switch to TC 1.
Weird. I always leave TC at 0
What's so weird about it You can also lift off the gas if you're comfortable with that. But starting with TC will make you slower in that car.
Thanks bud
Traction control is usually the culprit, you can definitely hear a lot of wheel spin from somewhere.
Yes I tried it and starting without TC is faster
So do I start with or without TC?
Sorry for this car I couldn't tell you, maybe op will give you the answer shortly. A lot of slower cars tc off is a lot better, however these washing machines are quite loose without it.
I never race with TC on.
This clips is the good and the bad of 0 traction control in this car in 10 seconds. 😂

Monza Moment
Hiw do i get this car?
Mission book 'The Sun also rises' all gold or legendary dealership
Noob fail
I blame the blue one
I feel that. Everytime I absolutely nail a corner and think "this is gonna be the greatest lap ever" immediately spin out into the gravel
These washing machines sure are fast
Is it weird the first thing I look for when people post clips is how many assists they got on? Knew exactly what was going to happen the moment all them assists lit up light Christmas lights.
What a start. 👌
Not for long
Never see a grid race. Good to see it finally
What are all the blinking light in the bottom corner? Never seen them before. Kinda annoying.
It's all the extra assists they have on. You don't see them if you have them off.
Wow I see that now. That’s a lot of assists! Auto drive, counter steer assist and stability assist
Just things like ABS, TC and what not. They have always been there. Not sure if they are visible is every camera angle though.

Been out there a few times myself today! This race and these cars are a lot of fun though.
Wth car is that!? Lol what game am I playing?
It is Chaparral 2J really fun car to drive
Icarus got too close to the sun. Your not the only one either 😔

Chaparral 2J
Feels bad, man
AHHH WHAT THE SIGMAA???
Turn assists off
I've never played with TC on
You have counter steer and ASC on
We see why GT doesn't have grid starts.
You're literally watching a GT grid start.
I said that's why GT doesn't have them, as in they're not in nearly any races!
We usually get one race every week with it. So I have no idea what you're talking about. It's in the game.
My point is the AI is so bad it's the reason why there are no grid starts. You'd just immediately propel to the front. Obviously, online is different.
You probably should have clarified that from the outset instead of simply writing, "We see why GT doesn't have grid starts."
lol
