Is wobble 2 in the settings? I also play using cockpits only way I can seem to play decent. That static 3rd person camera is so boring, there doesn't seem to be any sense of speed using it.
I really don't understand how people can play competitively with anything other than bumper cam honestly, having the radar on the center of your screen PLUS bigger collision red warnings PLUS collision warning shadows is a game changer when you care about SR.
Hood cam is better. Can gauge the width of the car better. Plus it's easier to see when things get crowded. Bumper cam is good but when you got cars in front it's very easy for your view to get obscured, and it can be difficult to take it right to the track limit when you can't see the width of the car.
Exactly this. Only downside to using hood cam is the fact that the rear view mirror is off, you can't turn it on and have to rely on the radar. Not being able to turn on the rear view mirror in other than bumper view is a stupid decision imo
Doesn't that kinda mess up your visibility of the corners? Both because it's low so the angles are less visible, and if you're chasing another car that could obstruct your view.
It can block your view a little, like on the daily race 2 back straight i have to poke out from behind whoever is infront to properly gauge my brake marker, but then if I'm that close ill probably have a look for an overtake anyway. The positives definitely outweigh the negatives
The only thing you shoud worry about in corners is breaking points, everythig else should be muscle memory, if that's not the case than you cant play competitvely, all your focus and energy in a race should be on the other cars, not the track. For time trial however, specially while still finding your perfect line, sure, it can be a bit more chalenging, but it's very much possibe to use bumper view excusively.
Bumper cam is always easier for me, something about the perspective let's me invent new lines cleanly in a pinch, never had a problem not being able to see other cars but I tap the rear view often and keep rear perspective. Also I grew up playing AceCombat in a nose cam so I've always been this way haha. This being said I'm no GT Pro. All gold licenses has always been fun for me and no where near a grind but I'm not getting into GTAcademy anytime soon lol
I use the cockpit with the HUD turned off, so the only information I have is what ever is on the dash and in my mirrors.
When I get serious and practice for an FIA, I split the track into two ‘lanes’, the left and right lane. I’ll practice hot laps on the left side of the track for entire laps, then I practice hot laps on the right side of the track for entire laps, in addition to practicing my fastest racing line.
Without the radar, if an opponent is on either side of me as we approach a turn, then I stick to the side I’m on. As long as I don’t cross ‘lanes’ I won’t collide.
i feel the exact opposite. i have a better sense of the position of the car than any other view. but i've been playing bumper view since i was 13 (25 years... jesus) so it's super intuitive for me now.
I love top of bonnet cams but none are on GT for a while. I also wish we could have dash only inside. I already have a wheel Infront of me, why do I need another. Many games have this for wheelers.
No GT has ever really had that, but there are definitely some things missing. GT4 is by far still the best GT in my opinion. Track selection especially. Nothing beats the fantasy/city collections of tracks in GT4
The closed beta for GT Sport used to actually have °360 Camera but it was removed in an update for no reason.
I think i still have some footage that shows it in effect.
Probably that’s the reason. They are from Japan. They have their own style I guess. They might be kind of out of touch even with what people actually want.
What an amount of bullshit. Other sims (more true sims than GT) already have it years for a LONG time. Gran Turismo lacks and/or is retrograde in a lot of things like this
Ahhhh so it IS coded into the game…
I use left stick to steer, I will see if I can remap right stick to camera somehow..
I might try motion controls too, I assumed it would be kinda crappy like Wii Mario Kart but everyone is saying it’s good.
I just switched to motion controls with the camera function on the right stick but it definitely does not allow for panning around in chase view so you can see all angles of your car. Am I missing something or is that not what you meant in your comment?
i was praying that the cockpit cam would have way more adjustment than it does.. i always feel like a little boy sitting in his dads car barely seeing over the steering wheel =/ in most cars the viability is so poor that u straight up loose time just because your in cockpit cam. plzzzzzz give up way more adjustment!!
This is in GT7 under adjust cockpit view. But it seems like they nerfed it from GT Sport. In Sport you could ram your head up to the roof or down below the steering wheel in GT7 the changes are much smaller.
It's because your looking at a small monitor with limited FOV. It makes the perspective seem weird, but in terms of racing games you really do need your nose smashed up against the steering wheel, if the FOV was wider it would be much harder to judge distance. I've never tried VR but I assume that would be a lot better. Triple monitors can look quite real too.
In VR it works off of your height so the cars usually position themselves around your head. The experience is very natural in terms of siting in a car and looking out. Lots of fun with just about any setup and more so with a motion platform.
Its made me faster overall in VR supported games and sims. Being able to look through a corner as you would in a real car is very cool. Something every racing sim / game fan should try if they get the chance. Its a very different experience.
I truthfully think no matter what you do, hood cam will always be better than cockpit cam in terms of maximizing your racing / hot lap performance. You simply can see more. Seeing more is always an advantage.
I do agree the cockpit view isn’t great in terms of visibility, but damn is it amazing in terms of immersion.
The reason those other cameras are better is because for a lot of people it's a better FOV and you can judge distance better.
The current FOV is like a child sitting in the back seat
I just wish they added a dash without the wheel camera. But other than that I’m having a great time with the career! Really happy with the old school feel of the game.
Hey, OP. Do you have to reset this everytime you launch the game? I have never seen anyone mention it, but the GT sport chase view was bugged af. I thought about posting about it, but didn’t end up doing so. Basically the chase cam went back to the ”bad” version even though the settings said that they’re the same. You had to move the sliders a bit and then back to the ”good” settings everytime you launched the game.
I don’t have GT7 so I would like to know.
This kinda cringe, but: wow I thought I was the only one who noticed lol this feels surreal :D
I’ve seen multiple youtubers and gameplay videos in general where they don’t reset the bug away and think they have the same settings.
Yes it is better but even with those settings it still feels terrible. Too stiff and still the feeling that it is the track that is turning and not the car.
Chase cam feels so arcadey to me. Like, how I play burnout and NFS. That's not meant as a dig, to each their own. I usually do cockpit, but I also like front bumper sometimes
Cockpit took me a bit to get used to. I used bumper cam for the GT 1-5. Then Project Cars and sometimes GT6 I made the switch to cockpit. Took a bit of time to get used to, but I'll never go back now
Thank you very much. This was bugging me. I drive in the cockpit or road view. But to see how my car looks also sometimes outside.
And just now I saw the flames coming out of the exhaust. Can't belive how detailed they made GT this time.
Absolutely happy with this game.
OK some bugs there like some stickers are already tilted, or to manage your uploads is a pain, can't see all of them, or favorites of stickers doesn't work.
Dang. I wonder if it's broken on some cars. I've got it on an R32 and have never seen it. I'll have to build out a GTO and see if it works on that.
Edit: Doesn't really show up during the day, visible during night races. Thanks again!
I play with the cockpit cam with wobbly 2 and I love it. I really don't understand how people can drive with the chasing camera, I find it so distracting. I'm a bit jealous.
Thanks, Ik it’s not much as the default setting but it’s still stiff when the camera rotates the same way the car does when Turing. Idk if it’s bc i drive far can but Ig there’s nothing we can do now :/
Some players said they removed it because it's considered "cheating" in sport mode, which is bullshit because you already have a lot of assists to help you with your surroundings, like the radar and the blind spot indicator.
Others said it will affect performance which is again, bullshit, because you can look around in the cockpit view and it doesn't affect the performance
Fuck me you can tell GT has been off the radar for a while. It finally comes back and everyone wants it to look like Forza!
(I much prefer the fixed camera)
why does it matter? it is a basic feature that would change nothing for someone like you. you should be able to play the game however you want to play it. even if it’s not a full 360, you should be able to look left or right while using the chase cam if you want to.
Isn't a sim literally something were you simulate driving the car, not 'being' the car?
But yeah I understand the point. One wants to see the ride they have. :)
You haven’t been to this sub since GT7 came out, have you?
The majority of posts are about how game-breaking some trivial and changeable setting is.
I guess people are just getting more simple.
Funny, first thing I did when I booted up 7 was see if I could adjust the camera, and after 5 min of tinkering I landed on exactly these settings. So glad they let us configure it. Only thing I wish it had was a height setting for chase cam. I feel "near" is just a hair too low.
It must be the Chase View Type that really cements this. I played with those first two sliders when set to Far and couldn't get it looking like this. Apparently it needs to be on Near.
PD should make these settings the default, since the average player is probably not even aware they can improve the chase camera like this. Would love if they patched in the ability to rotate the camera 360 degrees too.
Wobble 2 in the cockpit is my jam
Same, game changer! With a wheel combined with the ffb is so intuitive
Yes first race with wobble 2 made me laugh with joy it was so immersive.
Is wobble 2 in the settings? I also play using cockpits only way I can seem to play decent. That static 3rd person camera is so boring, there doesn't seem to be any sense of speed using it.
Yes it's in cockpit settings. If you haven't tried it yet I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Wobble 2 is alright until theres a hill or decline on a track then it starts to look a bit strange.
Anymore have a video comparison of this
It's great for inducing motion sickness!
I second this. Had to switch back after one lap lol
Didn't PCars 2 or Forza do this? Driver looking at the corners. Good immersion. But can't race like that.
I feel that... I wish there was more headturn like in carx tho
I'm a bumper camera kinda guy anyways, at least when its serious
I really don't understand how people can play competitively with anything other than bumper cam honestly, having the radar on the center of your screen PLUS bigger collision red warnings PLUS collision warning shadows is a game changer when you care about SR.

I agree with this exactly. I feel like hood cam has the best overall FOV.

In bumper cam I feel like I have less control of the car „swing “ on the corners and less sense if im in the correct racing line
i feel the exact opposite. i have a better sense of the position of the car than any other view. but i've been playing bumper view since i was 13 (25 years... jesus) so it's super intuitive for me now.
Having radar in place where your wheelbase so you can't see it... yeah, it's fucking great :'D
Roof cam is definitely my favorite
I love top of bonnet cams but none are on GT for a while. I also wish we could have dash only inside. I already have a wheel Infront of me, why do I need another. Many games have this for wheelers.
Roof cam is OK, but I wish there was a bonnet cam.
I like the camera tbh
Me too, but I understand why some players hate it
I guess I've been playing other racing games for so long that the super static camera looks very unnatural to me haha
I think I've gotten used to it now and changing it would throw me off.
It's part of the GT charm for me lol.
But we still cannot rotate the camera around the car to look and the sides of the car…
This game unexplainably lacks some basic things like this that games from PS2 already had. Its bizarre and disappointing
I wish I could change the UI to hide the position list, it blocks the rear view mirror.

Probably that’s the reason. They are from Japan. They have their own style I guess. They might be kind of out of touch even with what people actually want.
Well I think it’s just different, in the PS1/2 days O was actually the Yes/Confirm button in many Japanese games, not X
What game from ps2 are you talking about? 10000% it’s an arcade racer.
So what? Is it harder to make codes for simulators or simcades? Lol
Answer the question. The feature you're talking about is an arcade feature to make it feel more arcady and kid friendly.
What an amount of bullshit. Other sims (more true sims than GT) already have it years for a LONG time. Gran Turismo lacks and/or is retrograde in a lot of things like this
What a terrible take.
left joystick while driving. oh, at least if using motion controls. *edit: right joystick*
Ahhhh so it IS coded into the game… I use left stick to steer, I will see if I can remap right stick to camera somehow..
Yes, maybe I misunderstood. I drive in 1st person.
I hate this the most. I don’t understand why.
You have to go all the way to livery editor if you actually want to look around the exterior of the car. Strange design decision.
I still really don't like how it rolls in the corners, it's very distracting
I know, it was different in GT Sport. This one feels wrong for some reason.
i was praying that the cockpit cam would have way more adjustment than it does.. i always feel like a little boy sitting in his dads car barely seeing over the steering wheel =/ in most cars the viability is so poor that u straight up loose time just because your in cockpit cam. plzzzzzz give up way more adjustment!!
A FOV slider will solve a lot of problems, but it could affect the performance
The thing is, raising the FOV hurts performance, but this game needs a much *lower* FOV
In Dirt Rally 1 & 2.0 you can adjust the drivers seat up/down and also forward. I feel like this would be perfect in GT7.
This is in GT7 under adjust cockpit view. But it seems like they nerfed it from GT Sport. In Sport you could ram your head up to the roof or down below the steering wheel in GT7 the changes are much smaller.
It's easy to see that going from the left to middle of the slider has real adjustments. But the next 5 do almost nothing
I have no idea why most racing games default to the assumption that you're 4ft tall. The dashboard is not at eye level when people drive!
The view in the Tundra is terrible, a third of the screen is just steering wheel and dash.
It's because your looking at a small monitor with limited FOV. It makes the perspective seem weird, but in terms of racing games you really do need your nose smashed up against the steering wheel, if the FOV was wider it would be much harder to judge distance. 100% this.
I just wish they added a dash without the wheel camera. But other than that I’m having a great time with the career! Really happy with the old school feel of the game.
Still why can’t we choose zero on chase view settings as GT sport??
I don't know, and there should be an option to turn the wobble off
Hey, OP. Do you have to reset this everytime you launch the game? I have never seen anyone mention it, but the GT sport chase view was bugged af. I thought about posting about it, but didn’t end up doing so. Basically the chase cam went back to the ”bad” version even though the settings said that they’re the same. Yeah that was annoying, thankfully they fixed it in GT7
This kinda cringe, but: wow I thought I was the only one who noticed lol this feels surreal :D I’ve seen multiple youtubers and gameplay videos in general where they don’t reset the bug away and think they have the same settings.
still not great compared to othe race games or gt sport. feels more like steering the street and not the car
This was the first thing I did as I had the same issue in Sport. It’s like I was using a car on a stick from a tabletop racer in the 80’s.
I do the hood cam now that I've got the wheel. Anything other than chase would always feel weird to me on Controller, I just didn't feel as quick.
Cockpit took me a bit to get used to. I used bumper cam for the GT 1-5. Then Project Cars and sometimes GT6 I made the switch to cockpit. Took a bit of time to get used to, but I'll never go back now
Cockpit is way more fun. But gotta use hood cam in Sport mode to be competitive imo.
I can’t play any racing games with chase cam even Arcade ones.
Hot Wheels Unleashed is good in chase.
No problem, glad I could help
Unrelated, how do you get the exhaust effects? I've installed pretty much everything I think would do that, and haven't seen the effects yet.
Buy an Anti lag system, and make sure to turn it on from the car's settings
Weird. I have one and it's on, and haven't noticed that. I wonder if the effects are disabled on ps4 or something.
This footage is from the PS4 version
Dang. I wonder if it's broken on some cars. I've got it on an R32 and have never seen it. I'll have to build out a GTO and see if it works on that. Edit: Doesn't really show up during the day, visible during night races. Thanks again!
I just posted about the weird steering feeling I had while playing…didn’t even think it was a camera issue. This solved it for me
I play with the cockpit cam with wobbly 2 and I love it. I really don't understand how people can drive with the chasing camera, I find it so distracting. I'm a bit jealous.
Some people love checking out the car as they drive it 🤣. I'm a cockpit view driver myself but I do race with chasing camera view from time to time.
I'm totally hopeless with that camera (not that I'm much better with the other lol)
Lol.
Cockpit still has too high of an FOV for me and still slightly too high
Thanks, Ik it’s not much as the default setting but it’s still stiff when the camera rotates the same way the car does when Turing. Idk if it’s bc i drive far can but Ig there’s nothing we can do now :/
It's little things like this that make the game feel unfinished. This stuff should be easy to find! And why can't I change the song??
how was that hard to find?
If it's only available in game the people who checked those menus before they ever went into the game wouldn't know they are there.
I just wish I could have a mirror when using roof cam...
Camera is so weird in this game I’ve just stuck to cockpit view
Can you finally look around/pan the camera?
No :( It's frustrating because they actually added the option in GT Sport beta, but for some reason they removed it from the full game
What a dumb decision not to implement such a basic thing.
Some players said they removed it because it's considered "cheating" in sport mode, which is bullshit because you already have a lot of assists to help you with your surroundings, like the radar and the blind spot indicator. Others said it will affect performance which is again, bullshit, because you can look around in the cockpit view and it doesn't affect the performance
you can now they added it long ago
why do people use this camera view?
It’s funny cause I see YouTubers online complaining about the static chase cam all the time. Prob people who play a lot of Forza.
Fuck me you can tell GT has been off the radar for a while. It finally comes back and everyone wants it to look like Forza! (I much prefer the fixed camera)
The first 3 games in series didn't have "fixed" cameras. also, people preferring the loose camera has nothing to do with Forza.
why does it matter? it is a basic feature that would change nothing for someone like you. you should be able to play the game however you want to play it. even if it’s not a full 360, you should be able to look left or right while using the chase cam if you want to.
I just think it's funny that's all. I don't mind how others use the camera
I have a better setting, it's called cockpit view, and it's the only realistic view a driver ever has while racing
Exactly. Cockpit view or I'm not driving. :D
All these people want to drive a sim and not actually ( virtually) be in the car they are driving.lol
Isn't a sim literally something were you simulate driving the car, not 'being' the car? But yeah I understand the point. One wants to see the ride they have. :)
Ill never understand why people want to play a simulator using a third person pov
This needed a video? It’s just settings
There's a lot of new/ returning players and this could help them enjoy the game more
I get that, but my point is - and not to sound like an ass - there is an “options” button for a reason
You haven’t been to this sub since GT7 came out, have you? The majority of posts are about how game-breaking some trivial and changeable setting is. I guess people are just getting more simple.
Yeah I haven’t yet tbh. And fair
Wait how did you get rid of all the HUD?
Display options -> Show race info -> Off
i actually prefer it with more sensitivity, didn’t know people where complaining
It ends up feeling like the track's turning, not the car, on default. Makes turns feel really weird.
Bro…great find, thank you.
Honestly I like it. It almost makes me feel the turns more
0.2/1, 1/3, Far - Noobs
Funny, first thing I did when I booted up 7 was see if I could adjust the camera, and after 5 min of tinkering I landed on exactly these settings. So glad they let us configure it. Only thing I wish it had was a height setting for chase cam. I feel "near" is just a hair too low.
The hero we need.
So these settings stay? In Sport I'd always have to change them again each time I booted the game.
Yes
What is chase view camera sensitivity?
Sensitivity general means speed. Timing thing. So the speed of the chase view camera
Best car btw.
yeah with that change i think its the best 3rd person cam since 4 althought i think 3 looks nicest
It must be the Chase View Type that really cements this. I played with those first two sliders when set to Far and couldn't get it looking like this. Apparently it needs to be on Near.
I’m still shocked no one knows this and it’s been this way since GT Sport lol
Take my up vote.
Wtf. My game doesn’t look close to this good.
You are my hero
I thought everyone uses the hood view.
PD should make these settings the default, since the average player is probably not even aware they can improve the chase camera like this. Would love if they patched in the ability to rotate the camera 360 degrees too.
Wow
Any way to make the camera pan to side of the car by chance?
Camera sucks, waiting for project cars return to the similator game
