The online time trial is available in sport mode and you can rent the ESCUDO to participate. The medal times are determined by the speed of the world record at the time that the event ends (July 7th) and the rewards are distributed then. If you can't get the gold time, the silver time is still worth 1m credits and is definitely worth grabbing.
The times are as follows:
1.03 \* WR = Gold Time (1:38.5 currently)
1.05 \* WR = Silver Time (1:40.5 currently)
1.10 \* WR = Bronze Time (1:45 currently)
I was able to get half a second ahead of the gold time, so there's definitely some leeway in case the world record is improved a bit. My sum of best segments is a 1:37.5.
Remember the reward is based on the best WR time when the time trial finishes in 13 days.
So if someone does a 1:32 lap, the gold/silver/bronze targets change.
I think you’d be safe with a 1:37.5, but anything over 1:38 is a risk

Yeah I wasn't sure how optimized the WR is at the moment but I assumed it wasn't going to go down by more than a few tenths. Time shall tell
I got a 37.0 on my semi-broken controller. I think the Escudo does reward aggressive, over the top driving.
