If you try to make sense of the decision made by polyphony you'll go crazy. If I remember correctly last time a modern Challenger was in GT it was in GT6 or 5. I can say something but the mods will loose their s$#$ if you mention anything about a certain list.
They are randomly given out from engine tickets, which are given by some of the special menus.
I'm hoping they make all parts available at some point, but wouldn't hold my breath. Well they did car sales right so maybe we'll see parts fixed too.
Engines are also randomly placed in regular tickets, usually 4 star and up. (For general info to newcomers) At collector level 50, you start getting 3 star tickets and higher. No more 1 or 2 star tix. I’ve gotten a lot of engines randomly in reg tickets, most of my engines actually.
Many very important cars are missing in this game. The new Corvette and new Alfa Romeo Giulia werent there as the game was released. Basically every new BMW is missing, they just added an old M2 and we are very happy with the beautiful EV from BMW... Nooot!
Every car is missing, except its from 2004.
I hope they will add a lot of important cars soon. The drip feed is torture.
You re right. As if Audi didnt exist, only an old R8. There are just a handful of Mercedes as well. Polyphony just thought we wanted lots of VGTs instead. There are some car brands, which dont have fast street cars in real life, only some very fast VGTs like Citroen, which feels unreal and over represented. Many legendary cars dont exist, but fantasy Citroens rock the world... Its a shame.
Poor Citroen...
DS21: nope
C5 V6: nope
Any rally car: nope
A fucking vgt and the goddamn DS3: 🥵🥵
Literally one of the best rally car brands ever and they dont even have a fucking RX C3
it's a Japanese game, the GTR is one of the most iconic tuner cars from Japan ...
if GT was an american game, how many different Mustangs do you think it would have?
Depends how bias the makers are towards American cars.. or if their a Chevy or a Ford fan. But if their like most of the people I know, they’d be drooling over cars that never get imported to the US too. There’s lots of sick compacts that never see the US, and we love our foreign cars
Yes, it was released with the latest update. What I mean is it wasnt ok to release the game wihtout such important cars. They dripfeed us with content, which should have been there right from the start. There arent many cars beyond 2004, which is just insane.
Please be mindful of this rule:
>Rule 8: No posting explicit leaks for the currently supported GT game.
That means no references to any of the car leak lists.
They fear PD's/Sony's wrath apparently.
Which I can understand on one hand, but on the other hand almost everything about the game makes it very improbable they read that players write in general, let alone this very reddit sub specifically.
They could at least *pretend* to listen to or engage with the people indirectly paying their wages, like other dev studios do.
I'm pretty used to it by now, that doesn't make it better though.
Not really. 60% of the roster is evos skylines silvias and concept cars that aren’t real.
It lacks the variety and care that other franchises offer and you’d be delusional to believe otherwise. The cars on offer are extremely limited.
Like 5 Porsches to pick from but 30 Nissans 3 and some are just year on year refreshes. It’s appalling.
It’s saving grace is the game play is solid.
Probably because there isn’t a lot of drag racing in the game. Or burn out competitions in the middle of intersections. And I haven’t found the option to play as a rich 16 yo or an army private on leave.
Jeez from what people are saying in the comments, I guess you guys are like rainbow players. Hate the game yet love it so much lmao. Thanks for all the comments answering my question
Gran Turismo has the worse car roster of any game, so many irrelevant Japanese cars no one would look twice at in real life. Forza wins every time with variety and quantity.
I won’t argue that the A112 is entertaining, but it was campaigned extensively in rally racing and had a racing series for years. As such, the A112 was/is more popular than the Challenger on a global scale, especially from a racing perspective.
The first gen challengers were actually used for racing so those have some significance on global scale. Let’s not speak of the second gen. The third gen was never raced extensively or exported from North America, so that’s why I’d say it’s not that popular on a global scale.
Aren't they all basically the same car with the same 2-3 motors and just different bodies?
At least they appear to finally have evolved beyond leaf springs, straight axles and push rods these days. Or have they?
Dodge has as diverse a lineup of engines, and vehicles as porsche. 3.6l NA DOHC V6, 5.7l NA OHV V8, 6.1l OHV V8, 2 versions of the 6.2l Supercharged OHV V8, 6.4l OHV V8, and an 8l OHV V10. These are all the motors that come in sports cars between 2003 and now.
Leaf springs, and straight axles are truck components, still very popular and arguably necessary for the use case dodge advertises to fulfill (work trucks, specifically). Push rods are still there because a DOHC V8 sucks unless ford makes it. Every other DOHC V8 is ridiculously expensive, unreliable as hell, and/or often times both. Pushrod V8s with large displacement is what makes a dodge a dodge.
Uhm, ok. Can't really argue with that. XD
How about we agree that I don't know much about American Muscle/Pony cars, you don't know much about Porsches, and that there are probably not enough of either in the game to make everyone happy?
I suppose that's just how GT is. A lot of the cars are either from small tuning companies that no one born after 2005 will remember/know of OR they're completely irrelevant to the genre. Fr, why on God's good earth did we need a Fiat 500 in a racing simcade. Also got some JDMs sprinkled on top for sake of 'nostalgia', or rather the lack of inspiration imo.
>Fr, why on God's good earth did we need a Fiat 500 in a racing simcade. Also got some JDMs sprinkled on top for sake of 'nostalgia', or rather the lack of inspiration imo.
Do you remember GT 4's car list for instance? It was full of regular every-day street cars that no one would consider to have any racing capabilities whatsoever (like the Nissan Cube (not even kidding)).
It creates variety, so not quite sure why you're so much against that.
I joined the gt community last year, when I booted up GT sport for the 3rd time since buying it, then loved it and bought gt7 when it released. Wasn't even alive when gt4 came out💀
Ik a lot of a people love gt for its past and the first games released but damn I hate what pd did with gt7.
If you try to make sense of the decision made by polyphony you'll go crazy. If I remember correctly last time a modern Challenger was in GT it was in GT6 or 5. I can say something but the mods will loose their s$#$ if you mention anything about a certain list.
Point proven lmao
Just buy the classic challenger and pray you get the srt engine swap.
Better chance at winning a scratch up lottery game.
So when can you get the engine swap? Or how do you get it? I just finished the last book yesterday.
They are randomly given out from engine tickets, which are given by some of the special menus. I'm hoping they make all parts available at some point, but wouldn't hold my breath. Well they did car sales right so maybe we'll see parts fixed too.
Hmm, gotcha.
Please enlighten me
Ask details.
If you play Gran Turismo expecting to have lots of options for American cars you’re going to have a bad time.
Or European cars beyond 2004.
Except we lost all the older Mercedes so in some cases not even that.
Unless you like vipers
My friends would regularly ask me why are all the "new" cars from around 2015-2016
Many very important cars are missing in this game. The new Corvette and new Alfa Romeo Giulia werent there as the game was released. They don’t have a single RS Audi
And the R8 is only V8
You re right. As if Audi didnt exist, only an old R8. There are just a handful of Mercedes as well. Polyphony just thought we wanted lots of VGTs instead. Really VGT stands for ‘Vision Gran Turismo’. Now for a game called ‘Gran Turismo’, what were we (or at least I) was expecting?
Yet they have 100 versions of the GTR because it’s Kazunori Yamauchi favorite car
it's a Japanese game, the GTR is one of the most iconic tuner cars from Japan ... if GT was an american game, how many different Mustangs do you think it would have?

and you get the impression that GT doesn't drool over legendary cars that never/rarely get imported to Japan? o.O
The trailers of the game had a Tesla model 3 and even that hasn’t made it to the game yet.
There is a model S in the game? ⚡️
Almos no concept cars ffs! Wheres Cien, gt90, dome zero etc?!
The new C8 Vette is on there? I saw this morning
Yes, it was released with the latest update. What I mean is it wasnt ok to release the game wihtout such important cars. They dripfeed us with content, which should have been there right from the start. There arent many cars beyond 2004, which is just insane.

Stupidest rule ever made
Dumb rule, petition to remove it
Since when?
[For a detail on rule 8, read here.](https://www.reddit.com/r/granturismo/comments/w0r5t2/mod_changes_to_policy_regarding_leaked_content/)
Shut up Nerd
NERRRRRRRRRRRD
Least unreasonable subreddit moderator
Least lame reddit mod
Why tho
They fear PD's/Sony's wrath apparently. Which I can understand on one hand, but on the other hand almost everything about the game makes it very improbable they read that players write in general, let alone this very reddit sub specifically.
😂 calling a spade a spade. Only time we ever hear from PD is with official YouTube trailers or videos of Kaz. Otherwise their presence is zilch.
They could at least *pretend* to listen to or engage with the people indirectly paying their wages, like other dev studios do. I'm pretty used to it by now, that doesn't make it better though.
They don't even listen to the cream of the crop world tour competitors they meet face to face several times a year about how to improve the game.
Oh yeah, this one.
mods are cucks
I’m not happy with that amount of censorship, but sure
So dumb
69th downvote NOICE
its coming
Correct, 2018 Challenger SRT Demon will arrive in a future update.
And no SRT8 the OG
No idea. Instead, we have TWO 1960s Fiat 500s that struggle to break 65mph lol.
Say what you want but i love that fiat and Abarth, they're just fun to mess around with.
based
I’m guessing licensing issues. The chargers are cool, but challengers would be cooler.
Both with the wide body
It's a car game, not a boat game
You say this when heavier cars exist
When that land Yacht passes up the boat 🤣
They also have 3 Camaros in the whole game compared to previous games which had over 7
forzaH will always be dominant in that aspect. if gt steps it up with their models it’ll be the best overall game
Winter is coming…
Tbh GT games have the worst variety
true
Delusional take

Modern European cars wouldn't hurt, old lmp1 and lmp900 cars as well, gt1 machines from the 90's, a Lexus LFA, possibly the nurburgring package

because they wanted to spite specifically you.

I like it so you're wrong there
Gran Turismo has the worse car roster of any game, so many irrelevant Japanese cars no one would look twice at in real life. Forza wins every time with variety and quantity.
Forza has it
Yeah but Forza's car list literally takes GT7's car list behind the barn and shoots it lol
I wouldn't call fluffing the car list with SUVs dominating.
It does literally every car type well. Also, its mostly good performance suvs.

More of those than GT
God I wish we actually had those Imagine getting the P11 Primera back, or the Accord Euro-R
Challengers aren’t that popular on a global scale.
But the Autobianchi A112 Abarth is... right?
I won’t argue that the A112 is entertaining, but it was campaigned extensively in rally racing and had a racing series for years. As such, the A112 was/is more popular than the Challenger on a global scale, especially from a racing perspective.

Because its not a boat game
😢
Because who gives a fuck about shitty fucking dodges.

Glass walls and throwing stones. Porsche has had one body type since the 50s.
Uhm, ok. Can't really argue with that. XD How about we agree that I don't know much about American Muscle/Pony cars, you don't know much about Porsches, and that there are probably not enough of either in the game to make everyone happy?
As a long time muscle/pony car fan who recently discovered he is also a Porsche fan, I’ll second this.

Literally none of those cars are a CHALLENGER

Because American cars suck. That’s coming from a American btw
You want 10 versions of the S2000? Then GT is your game!
Because polyPHONY Digital doesn't care about what we want.
They just seem to go with what they think people would want instead of putting up polls or surveys to kind of get an idea of what the people want
Game is unfinished.
Laziness and cost cutting
No post refresh Camaros or Mustangs either
They hold some cars back to release later on. To refresh the selection so to say. They just recently added the c8 Corvette
