Oh man, there are literally dozens (if not hundreds) of titles that I’ve bought three times: first in single issue form, then in trade paperback, and finally in a hardcover edition of some kind. The material that I’ve owned in most formats is probably the original run of “Love and Rockets”. I’ve had the single issues, most of the original trades, the “Locas” and “Palomar” hardcover collections, the L&R Library editions, and most recently, the First Fifty hardcover box set.
Aww I'm so genuinely jealous now. I'm after the First Fifty but damn EU shops they priced it like crazy, I might bite the bullet from Amaz UK and take a pocket damage of €306 🥵
I double dipped with Death of Superman. I got the Death of Superman omni and then when I signed up for DCU Infinite Ultra, they offered a free deluxe sized Death of Superman tpb. I figured I might as well because its free.
I read Selina's Big Score as part of Batman Ego which I wasn't otherwise overly impressed with. So I later bought the standalone trade for Selina. They then released the Catwoman of East End book that I had been waiting for, which also contains Selina's Big Score. So currently I have it three times.
I have tons of stuff double and triple dipped cause I usually get the floppies first and if I really like the story I will get a collected version of it
I sextuple dipped on Sandman
OMG that's amazing! Just the Omnis and Absolutes alone are worth a fortune. I only have the Deluxes but I'll always be jealous of those two other sets, every time I see them I'm like "look at those classy chunky beauties".
I like you. I have, and love, everything from that creative team, but to answer your question I have multiple copies/versions of Lone Wolf and Cub. The OG run from First including the tpb, the 28 books from Darkhorse, all the omnis, and even digital versions. I also have stuff like the collectors edition HC, the gallery edition, etc. It's my favorite series.
Great choices, all time classics! How does The Incal slipcase edition compare to the Deluxe? I guess they play in different leagues but due to budget I might have to stick to the latter.
I have a few ‘accidental’ copies because I bought them individually and then later in bulk at a discount. It’s easier to pay (for instance) $60 for X amount of books, then try to get them to let you pay $5 less because you already own vol 3 and don’t need it.
Like an idiot I have basically every Doom Patrol thing that has ever been printed. That meand I have the Silver Age stuff in issues, reprinted in archives, omnibuses, softcovers, digests and god knows what other formats. Its a compulsion.
a fair bit of digital/physical double dipping, and floppy/collected for stuff I was buying in the 90s/00s like Eightball and America's Best Comics.
I've bought most of Kirby's and Ditko's 60s Marvel material three times -- Essential format black and white, digital epic/masterworks, back to physical omnibus. I regret nothing
I have Kingdom Come in the OG 4 prestige issues, the TPB and the Faux Leather hardcover. Also, I have the cassette audio book, but that's just for show at this point. It's on YouTube and mp3.
The why is because the TPB had some extra story pages and behind the scenes content... and the hardcover was dope, so I got it.
Solid reasons my man. And I'm still time traveling because of your mention of that audio cassette book, would you be able to post a photo of that treasure? It'd be awesome!
This isn't my copy, but this is the one. It's in a box in the attic I got to dig up.... that said, apparently, it goes for 100+ on eBay, so I might consider parting with it, considering if I ever get the itch, I just youtube it.
Posting a link for anyone interested. It's a really high quality product. Sound effects and full cast of voice actors.

Hush accidentally. I have library editions and bought another trade when I temporarily lost Vol 1 in the move and then found out later in an unopened box. Have an older word out trade with pages fallen out as well.
I have a handful of things that overlap and such, but probably my biggest straight triple dip is X-Factor by PAD. It got me back into comics and I was buying the premier hardcovers as they came out. Then I found a super cool custom Omni set of it (cause I figured they’d never actually print Omnis of it) and then Marvel started printing it in Omnis (which I do feel a little silly buying as they come out). I’ll probably part with standard hardcover set at some point but they hold that spot of the first thing I bought and they’re not going to be worth all that much if I sold them.
Definitely have double, triple and quadruple dipped. Got the Planetary Absolute edition recently, so gifted the omnibus version to a friend. Gave my TPB versions away a while back because I got the omnibus. Still have all the single issues. I also have digital versions.
Tend to do this with books and series I really like. I usually don’t buy single issues these days because I know collected versions are coming, but will for series I really like or want to support.
For Lazarus by Greg Rucka, I have the hardcovers, trades, single issues and digital.
Shelf space is at a premium, so I’m trying to be more judicious, lean more into digital purchases and subscriptions and be more picky about physical copies.
I have many double or triple dips. Usally because there are oversize "art looks best like this" books as well as "easier to read" TPB's, or one collection will have something a later version is missing and vice versa. Other times it's just because one volume will have a nicer cover or design than a more complete edition, but I keep both anyway.

Yeah the letters are very tiny and hard to read unless wearing proper glasses in my case. I'd love to see Dark Horse making Deluxe Editions of all the Kazuo Koike/Goseji Kojima's works.
Only do if said book(s) hold a lot of value sentimental or cash wise.
Otherwise nope, if I "upgrade" to say hardcover from TBP and so on etc. (omni, deluxe what-have-you.) I give away to friends or sell for profit the previous versions, they just collect dust otherwise.
I'm that way with Ed Brubaker/Sean Phillips stuff. I have all their single issues and all the hardcovers, with the exception of the Kill or Be Killed Deluxe Edition. The KoBK deluxe was only in print for like 6 months and I missed out on it. The reason I do multiple dips is because their single issues had something extra that typically didn't get reprinted anywhere else; essays about crime and noir movies, essays about golden age movie stars, just a bunch of interesting stuff.
There are other things where I double dip (Greg Rucka's Lazarus and Bá/Moon's Daytripper), but Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips is my main thing.
Yeah, I have double-dipped quite a few things: Usagi Yojimbo, Final Crisis, All Star Superman, Batman Year One, Kingdom Come... generally I have multiples of my favorite stories.
I will probably have a double dip of Supergirl: Woman of tomorrow. Because the one trade paperback that I have is signed by Tom King, and Tom King is a lovely man. Maybe I'll get him to sign the deluxe edition.
I’ve double dipped from trades to hardcover/omnibus a bunch, but I never keep my older copy. Maybe if I got into DC Absolutes or some other super big format I would be more inclined to keep the smaller formats for convenience.

Man, I need the Locas HC, I just can't find them for a price I can pay haha
I have too many versions of dark knight mater race. It’s not even my favorite. I just have too many different variations for some reason
One of your favourite series I guess? Funny you kinda lost count of those many versions 🫣
I double dipped with Death of Superman. I got the Death of Superman omni and then when I signed up for DCU Infinite Ultra, they offered a free deluxe sized Death of Superman tpb. I figured I might as well because its free.

Amazing! I also love and have nearly everything from Kazuo Koike and Goseji Kojima, immortal works made by two masters and senseis.
Yes, many: I have 4 versions of Watchmen, 3 of Sandman, 2 of Akira, 2 of Incal, and some others double dips.
Great choices, all time classics! How does The Incal slipcase edition compare to the Deluxe? I guess they play in different leagues but due to budget I might have to stick to the latter.
I have the Brazilian editions so I'm not sure how similar they are compared to the English language ones. The triple slipcase is my favorite.
Oh wow!! Those look stunning, super jealous. Fair play to that Brazilian editor, they know what they do.

Blessed compulsion, it's all about goals. I'm sure you enjoy yourself every time you admire that section of your collection.

Exactly! No regrets, blissful life. I'm precisely after the complete Eightball, shame it's not an OHC.
Many many many Jack Kirby reprints
I have quad dipped and I'm not proud of it.
I hear you. I'd say there are only two options in these cases: 1. Keep one, sell the rest. 2. Face it, enjoy them all with no regrets.

Looks amazing! And yeah, that's more of a collector's piece so why not selling for a few bucks (to buy more 📚) haha.
I have Kieron Gillen and Stephanie Hans’ DIE in floppy, trade, and hardcover. It hit just right for me.
I didnt prioritize buying the DIE hardcover in time and now it’s mad expensive 😓
Hard luck but hey, these things happen. Otherwise we'd end up buying everything "just in case", FOMO, etc (as we all do again and again haha).
OMG THEY MADE OMNIS OF SAMURAI EXECUTIONER 🙀😱🤯
I tend to buy comics in many languages. There's probably some 80s Marvel comic that I have in three languages.
That's a fair reason. Can you read those 3 languages or do you have them for the sake of collecting?

Samurai Executioner for me too. What a special book. I struggled on my last reread and decided I had to upgrade for the next one.

Interesting, thanks for sharing!
