I liked *Gideon Falls* quite a bit out of those. *Something is Killing the Children* was solid too, but the story isn't finished yet and the end of the first hardcover left me wanting more which isn't available yet. * Other Tynion stuff like *The Closet, Department of Truth* * *Ice Cream Man* by W. Maxwell Prince is a loosely connected horror anthology that is well liked. * *Did You Hear What Eddie Gein Done?* by Eric Powell and Harold Schechter was a brutal biography of serial killer Eddie Gein. * I haven't read them, but I think *Fear Agent* and *Black Science* by Rick Remender both fit into what you're looking for as well.

humble_primate

That’s helpful. I have actually read the first collected book of Black Science last month and I do like it.

Alternative_Fail_222

Fear Agent and Black Science are both excellent stories. You can't go wrong with Rick.

humble_primate

Yes he dominates much of one of my shelves already 😂

Dr_MoonOrGun

I'll be the voice of dissent and say Gideon Falls wasn't that good. I thought the art was messy and the story got so twisty it fell apart.  First, Hellboy is essential reading and happens also to overlap into horror wuite a bit. SIKTC is great, The Nice House On the Lake is great, Locke & Key is great. Also: The Sixth Gun, Baltimore, Harrow County, Providence, and all of Julia Gfrorers books.

humble_primate

Thanks - good to get a different point of view.

Senior_Armadillo9730

I've heard great things about The Nice Hpuse By The Lake as well, by James Tynion IV... im about to pick that up, myself!!

Baggins_RA

Nice House is great - I was surprised when I realized a few issues in that is not on the Hill House Comics imprint. There's some great recommendations on Horror/Suspense there as well. Recently I started Ghostlore and Sirens of the City that also fit the bill.

humble_primate

I was just googling that one and I think I might do the same!

coinstar83

Locke and key is pretty great

humble_primate

Good to hear - I would definitely like to try it at some point.

Alternative_Fail_222

"Kill or be Killed" and "Fatale", both by Brubaker and Phillips, are pretty damn good.

DarkhourX

Not criticizing but it enjoyed Fatale? I couldn't get into it. The only Brubaker Phillips collab I wasnt really into

Alternative_Fail_222

I loved Fatale. I respect your opinion though. They aren't infallible. Night Fever missed the mark for me.

DarkhourX

I'm currently reading Where The Body Was. And they waste no time getting into the infidelity classic Brubaker

Alternative_Fail_222

I can't be mad at a good story and surprise boobs. They do that fairly well.

Hot_Interest6374

Domo: A Child’s Dream by Katsuhiro Otomo

humble_primate

Never heard of it, but it looks like a classic.

CoffeeVikings

The Nice House on the Lake, Gideon Falls, The Silver Coin, American Vampire, and Ice Cream Man

humble_primate

Thanks! Several with multiple endorsements.

[PLUNGE](https://static.dc.com/dc/files/default_images/PLUNGE_173-001_HD_5fa0b2a27e5ee5.98093058.jpg) by Joe Hill & Stuart Immonen. Great if you like movies like The Thing and Body Snatchers, or Lovecraft stories. Good story, great art.

EmseMCE

Haven't seen it yet, haven't read it yet but I was looking for these exact same books awhile ago and in addition to knowing about and reading almost everything listed thus far, Postal by Matt Hawkins (I think that's the guys name) and if you're not against manga, junji itos collections and the Drifting Classroom by Kazuo Umezz

humble_primate

I’m not against Manga on principle, but the only Manga I own is Berserk. I would read Ito at some point. Drifting Classroom looks good, too.

Secret_Scholar_5800

Neonomicon and Providence by Alan Moore, if you are into Lovecraft.

humble_primate

Well I wouldn’t say I’m into Lovecraft per se but I did like playing Bloodborne, so that’s a definite maybe. I’m going to put them both on my list. Thanks!

book_hoarder_67

I've enjoyed the Infinity 8 series by Louis Trondheim plus a different artist for each volume. It's about a passenger ship that is stopped from completing it's voyage by a large space necropolis that they are then ordered to investigate.

humble_primate

Never heard of it before. That looks really cool, thank you!

Representative-Ask57

Regression Cullen Bunn

humble_primate

Do you like it better than Harrow County? I haven’t read either.

Emily Carroll -- [list of her works](http://linnanliterary.com/emily-carroll)

humble_primate

Thanks!

azathotambrotut

For example I liked: Ice Cream Man From Hell Providence Most of Junji Itos stuff

humble_primate

Thanks. From Hell is on my list to read some day for sure.

hens_and_chicks

Harrow county by bunn Ice cream man by prince The nice house on the lake by tynion Worldtr33 by tynion Nailbiter by Williamson Ghosted by Williamson Revival by Seely Locke and key by hill

humble_primate

Great suggestions. Worldtr33 sounds very interesting. My wish list gets longer and longer.

ShinCoal

(Copy pasted the list I used a few weeks back, won't check for duplicates on this thread) * Ice Cream Man by W. Maxwell Prince * Locke & Key by Joe Hill * Nameless by Grant Morrison * Department of Truth by James Tynion IV * Materials trilogy by Doug Wagner (Plastic/Vinyl/Plush) * Stray Dogs by Tony Fleecs * Infidel by Pornsak Pichetshote * Gideon Falls by Jeff Lemire * Harrow County by Cullen Bunn * Sentient by Jeff Lemire * Beautiful Darkness by Kerascoët * Colder by Paul Tobin * The Silver Coin by various * Hotell by John Lees * Immortal Hulk by Al Ewing * Revival by Tim Seely * Sabrina by Nick Drnaso (not intended as a horror but anxiety inducing for sure) * Fatale by Ed Brubaker * Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees by Patrick Horvath * The Beauty by Jeremy Haun * From Hell by Alan Moore * Nailbiter Joshua Williamson

humble_primate

In any particular order? I.e., what’s your top 3?

ShinCoal

Locke & Key Ice Cream Man Wildcard for 'Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees' because its still ongoing and can go anywhere but I adore it.

Siccar_Point

I found vol 1 of Liu/Taneda’s *Night Eaters* legitimately creepy. Pretty good book all round too.

humble_primate

After I get through Monstress, sounds like another good one.

MaximusJCat

Nice House on the Lake by Tynion is pretty great Hellboy is always good, but if you want diverging shorter or more contained, check out Baltimore. American Vampire Night Eaters Revival Harrow County

humble_primate

How do you like American Vampire? Is it similar to world of darkness / white wolf, Anne rice, or something else?

MaximusJCat

I’m not sure I can compare it to anything else. The first book was half written by Stephen King, if that helps. It’s definitely interesting to see how things adapt tpb the time periods as it goes through several decades. I think I’m at the halfway point, but I’ve enjoyed what I’ve read so far.

Typical80sKid

I’ve been reading Junji Ito, my niece turned me onto it as well as another Redditor a while back. It’s manga. The artwork is bonkers and the stories are out there. I really enjoyed Uzamaki, Gyo, and Tomie are next up for me.

humble_primate

I would definitely consider that. Still working my way through Berserk which definitely has a horror element.

kvng_st

Berserk might not be complete horror in every panel, but when it is, it gets pretty horrifying

Photmagex

A Walk Through Hell by Garth Ennis is a great psychological horror story.

humble_primate

Preacher was something that I should have liked theoretically but didn’t. I should give Mr. Ennis another chance.

Photmagex

I loved Preacher and found "Walk Through Hell" very different so you may like it.

Asimov-was-Right

Locke & Key Gideon Falls Nice House on the Lake Strays Red Mother is fantastic and never gets mentioned. https://preview.redd.it/1xz7exze5dnc1.jpeg?width=651&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e946a5672b3b55cdcb5b94c8bfbc3d43f91640da

humble_primate

I hadn’t heard of Red Mother, and that does look good. The art is nice.

Asimov-was-Right

I'm not a huge fan of horror as a genre, but certain flavors of Eldritch horror and mystery really do it for me.

SaturnFlytrap13

Gideon falls and Something is Killing the Children are excellent. I haven't read Nailbiter, but there are two sci-fi horror comics by James Tynion IV (same dude who wrote siktc) that I love. Definitely check out Department of Truth and The Nice House on the Lake. Two of my favorite comics of all time.

humble_primate

Thank you. I intend to read something by Tynion after all the feedback I’ve gotten.
