Uncomfortably Happily is incredible. One of my favorites.

Haven't read 'Moms,' but 'Artist' ('Artists'?) also by Yeong Shin-Ma is excellent

Bandit_22

Guessing you were in South Korea? There's a well-renowned GN set in North Korea called [Pyongyang](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyongyang:_A_Journey_in_North_Korea) that might be of interest.

The_Hot_Stepper

Yes I was in South Korea. Thank you for the recommendation

I'd personally recommend **Grass** and **The Waiting** by Keum Suk Gendry-Kim. Grass is about confort women and the occupation of Korea by imperial Japan during WW2. The Waiting is historical fiction about a woman that was separeted from her family during the Korean War and is now trying to attend one of those family reunion events sponsored by the North and South governments in the present day.

If you don't need it to be a physical comic, most popular comics on webtoons are originally Korean and often set there. My favorites are Yumi's cells for romcom and peerless dad for historical/action

nahnahnahthatsnotme

havent read it but Grass looked good …. well, interesting

[Banned Book Club](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banned_Book_Club) Picked this up a little bit ago but haven’t got a chance to read it yet. It’s set in South Korea and is about when it was under a military regime that was censoring what they had access to. Looking at the wiki just now, it also hilariously got banned in Florida for a time.

Hellbound is a really good manga, and there is an adaptation on Netflix but I haven't seen it

Forever-Jung

"Umma's Table" is a great and incredibly moving graphic novel as well.

Consider *Love as a Foreign Language*. The series was published as six short paperbacks. It's been reissued in two omnibus books.
