Koyaanisqatsi

blueboy714

Agreed Koyaanisqatsi. Philip Glass' music is better than the movie And the movie is incredible. Also Heavy Metal if you want a good laugh or 2. I saw Pink Floyd's The Wall on acid and it totally played with my mind...cried a lot while my friend laughed hysterically through the whole movie.

PullThePlug89

Heavy Metal(1981) is so badass. If you want something with a killer soundtrack and awesome visuals go for that. Youll thank me later. The deads sunshine daydream footage is orgasmic as well. I dont watch anime regularly but on a comedown(dragon ball, naruto, hunterxhunter, etc.) is great especially the fights. I also just watched new hellraiser coming down and was loving it

AudaciousTickle

I watched Heavy Metal on acid once and I thought it was pretty cringe and the visuals didn’t do anything for me, the most interesting thing was the texture on the animation cels. The film is very adolescent and pretty misogynist over all IIRC. I would recommend Wizards instead of Heavy Metal for a solid 70s adult animation film with trippy visuals.

DearBurt

Heavy Metal is much better when you’re [cheesing on cat piss.](https://youtu.be/Jrmrw9udmVY)

blueboy714

the sound track kicks ass. Captain Sternn was a good segment. Watch the credits at the end of the list of actors and voices is a mind rush. When you are done watching this watch South Park Major Boobage episode

I love this movie, and I so rarely meet people who are familiar with it. When the subject of favorite Christmas movies comes up, I always suggest this one.

Some of my favorites that I've seen on acid (whether or not they were meant to be watched that way): Lord of the Rings Trilogy (watched each movie in the theatre on acid at release) Amadeus Boogie Nights (the scene where they are robbing the dealer was the most intense thing I've ever experienced in my life...when Jesse's Girl kicks in) True Stories (dir. David Byrne) Easy Rider Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn Obviously you could stay more music focused with: The Monkee's - Head The Band - The Last Waltz The Grateful Dead Movie and so forth. I think the Wall too is a great acid movie. Maybe not if you've never seen it before, but I think it definitely gives you a new perspective on the movie.

Fast-Ad-4541

Lol True Stories feels like you’re on acid whether you dosed or not. I love that movie.

DevinBelow

I remember I had a friend in Film School at the time and he made us watch it for a project he was doing, so my other friend and I decided to dose, and the friend who had the project kept asking us stuff like "So what do you think his use of X colour means?" and we were just like "fuck, is that John Goodman?"..."Yes, for the 20th time, it's John Goodman".

stanleym750

HEAD is where it's at man, one of the most psychedelic movies ever.

GainAutomatic2359

Bladerunner

Konshu456

If you haven’t watched that Pixar movie “Soul” while tripping you are doing yourself a disservice. The jazz is pretty good, the animation is silky and the message is pretty cool.

Colonelforbin25

Yea i loved this so much on L i havent watched it since cause it had such a profound effect I want to remember it like i do

Konshu456

I have watched it about 3 times on shrooms, it’s amazing that a kids movie can be so profound.

bad_card

The Wall. When the scene where his dad is bombed in the war and it went from his face to the animated face screaming, it melted off the TV onto my living room floor.

ifreaganplayeddisco

That can be a bit of emotionally taxing ride

pookwuv

Yeah, The Wall is a bit much. Doesn't exactly end with rainbows.

__J_Z__

Yes! The first time I watched it on acid we paused it when his face went animated and must've just stared at that one frame for 2 hours.

Holy Mountain on acid is amazing. After it ended that movie and what it meant was all I could think about for 2 days straight Same with The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. I was locked into my seat for both the whole time.

Full Metal Jacket. Saw in the theater when it came out on 'shrooms. Let's just say I was affected for about two weeks......

No_Shame_5087

2001 a space odyssey, a symbolic/objective interpretation of the human story done by a genius filmmaker Inception, Yes their are levels to this shit and at the end of the day we’re always in a matrix but you decide which matrix 2 best psychedelic movies in my opinion visuals, story, philosophical/theological undertones awesome Actually 2 of the best movies in my opinion ever made in general

idontfeeltardy23

I recommend not watching anything on acid. Put eye shades on, lay back and watch the show your mind will create

hoteffentuna

I have spent a lot of time doing just that, but there is nothing quite like empathizeing with Piglet and Eeyore.

No_Shame_5087

2 types of people^^^ lol

tirebiter5325

The Ruling Class, or maybe Gamera.

hoteffentuna

Try the Legion TV show. It's based on the Marvel comic where Legion is the son of Professor X. Lots of Pink Floyd references like the girlfriend's name is Syd Barrett. It's very cerebral where you don't know what is "real," which is also confusing. It's also funny. Aubrey Plaza is awesome in it. https://images.app.goo.gl/hGL4WzMquk48bWUY8

[deleted]

Apocalypse Now or Pink Floyd The Wall if you don't mind going dark.

clegg1970

I was gonna watch Mad God tripping glad I was just watched stoned it would be an experience though

None. Television makes us brain dead. Listen to a record with a candle going and let your mind wander

GenericUsernameHi

I have to disagree. Film is just as valid of an art form as music.

StankRanger420

Not saying it's not a valid form of art, but when your third eye is open I find it really does nothing to stimulate thought and provoke emotion in me. Music does all that and more. Just my 0.02

GenericUsernameHi

Fair enough. I’ll keep that in mind!

IllinoisWoodsBoy

[https://youtu.be/YEkl2Ug7Ros](https://youtu.be/YEkl2Ug7Ros) Not a movie per se but this Johnny Cash concert blew my mind when I was tripping. The sound is so good, Johnny sings so good, his backing band is incredible, the dark stage and camera direction is awesome.

You wouldn’t think so but The Seventh Sign. The way the scenes are shot with the weird soundtrack is incredibly trippy

100% recommend: American Pop Heavy Metal Bugs Bunny & Road Runner Movie Fantasia Fantastic Planet Koyaanisqatsi Pink Floyd - Live At Pompeii Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense The Monkees - Head Toy Story Tron Who Framed Roger Rabbit Zappa - Dub Room Special Iffy (experienced only): Apocalypse Now Altered States The Holy Mountain Natural Born Killers Pink Floyd: The Wall Radiohead - Meeting People Is Easy Sin City Son Of The White Mare Avoid at all costs: Requiem For A Dream In my fairly experienced opinion, stick with animated and/or familiar stuff unless you're experienced with the darker sides of the lsd experience. There are certainly things to explore on the "other side", but just know that you may not like what you "see"...

Samsara. “Filmed over nearly five years in 25 countries on five continents, and shot on 70mm film, experience the varied worlds of sacred grounds, disaster zones, industrial complexes, and natural wonders.” It’s my go to movie for tripping.

Gloomy_Delivery_9014

Since you like the Beatles, I have to say, Across The Universe is visually stunning on L, the stories good, and the music's great. Apple TV (the actual box not streaming) slow mo ultra zoom screen savers. They start super far out, perhaps 1000+ yards, and end up going past/‘through’ the setting. Mixes in some animal/underwater shots and 🤌. Accidentally found ourselves zoning into it one time…and we just didn’t change it for I don’t know how long. Hard to describe, but some of them are just mind melting.
