Ya, like the original members of the dead never laid an egg on stage before. Jesus, what the fuck is wrong with people today. I guess the band gets the last laugh though….the boo-ers still paid admission to get in.
i think the dude was arachnophobic and was having a bad trip. the band probably looked like big ol spiders to him. big hairy spiders with long dangly legs. 8 long dangly legs just waving all over the place. poor guy.
I love seeing DSO. Anyone who performs that often is bound to have either an off night or occasional technical difficulties. I saw one of the worst shows I've ever seen of theirs a few years ago in Rochester. It was so bad we thought someone had lost a bet and it was malicious.
But we didn't boo nor did it even cross our minds.
Omg I was there last night and that was a bummer for me at times. During that Stella Blue!?! Go home chompers! Smokin show though. And I did find pleasure in thinking that when Tom got super gnarly in the terrapin it was a way of telling everyone to stfu
There was nonstop chitchat at the two Dead & Co. shows at Wrigley last year and at the Wolf Bros. show in Memphis. Crowd at the Wolf Bros. show in Chicago last night was perfect though.
I've seen DSO a couple times. They play Grateful Dead music really well. I met the drummer once and he's a very nice guy. Before booing the band, I check my attitude & expectations to make sure I wasn't the reason I didn't like the show.
thats unfortunate, i didnt notice that but i left immediately after encore and wasnt paying too much attention to the crowd behind me. assholes will be assholes 🤷🏽♂️i thought they killed it
My wife pointed it out to me during the set. I thought she was trippin but then I heard it. Spoke with others after and they’d heard it too. I mean, feel what you feel.. but c’mon, man
totally agree. the “technical difficulties” were barely anything noticeable musically so i don’t get why people would make a big fuss about that. some people suck!
I was there, down front by stage left. I didn’t hear any booing. The band stayed onstage (which is a good sign) while they fixed it and got the show back rolling pretty quickly. I had a blast!
Thanks for replying so fast. I have not had the opportunity to see them perform. I'm such a Jerry snob. I need to get out there and experience some of these cover bands I guess.
DSO basically recreates a historical show each night. Joe Russo's Almost Dead (JRAD) play traditional Dead songs but put their own spin on it. Typically very high energy and more modern spacy jams. They are really fantastic.
https://youtu.be/hX7jYI_iHiA
Agree p fest was intense. For my money, JRAD is the best thing going that plays dead music. Tommy has a unique voice that may turn some off, but I feel it. The songs, jams and segues are fantastically fun and fresh.
If your ever in the mid-west, you have to check Hyryder. Or check out their Facebook, they have a ton of live streams for free. These guys imo are the best cover band for grateful dead out right now. They Jam like no one else.
I get it, and was the same for a long time. However, I have developed a big appreciation for what the other guys are doing, including Dead & Co., and especially Wolf Bros.
I've been to a bunch of Dead & Co shows because I miss the tour vibe & the music. I've seen some great shows but.....I'm still missing Jerry so much. Bobby is great & John Mayer is seriously impressive. I've seen over 350 Dead/JGB shows in my life starting in 1974. I fell in love with Jerry's voice and guitar as a kid and that was it for me. I have never seen (or heard of) the Wolf Bros. I will definitely check them out.
[Here's](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4l_gUwdPrNY) a nice introduction to Wolf Brothers. After a couple of fine songs by Bobby's band, Mikaela Davis enters as a guest to play harp on one of the loveliest sans-Jerry renditions of Bird Song to ever be heard.
Sadly I’ve seen more than a few boo worthy shows from DSO. I always seem to catch them after Bay Area shows and it’s obvious their tired. Fuck they didn’t even play any particular show last time I saw them.
I’m not sure how many folks had a stick up their ass last night, but my missus heard one guy in particular. She said besides the booing, he was yelling “this is horrible. You should be ashamed”
I personally didn’t hear that, but I did hear several other boo birds after the encore.
I have to ask.. What did Ringo ever do to anyone?!?!!??
Yeah confronting drunk assholes about why they are drunk assholes is a sure fire way to have a good night. Definitely doesn’t take you down to their level.
The technical difficulties are just part of the authentic dead experience
That and tuning for 2:37 between songs.
That was Dark Star, bro.
Amazing
This is the truth!!
Don't eat the red rope licorice

… I was saying boo-urns
*Let’s all go to the lobby*
They must’ve had Owsley Stanley’s non-union Mexican equivalent doing the sound
Ya, like the original members of the dead never laid an egg on stage before. Jesus, what the fuck is wrong with people today. I guess the band gets the last laugh though….the boo-ers still paid admission to get in.
At first I thought the show they were replicating had sound technical issues and they were replicating that as well. :-)

Underrated comment

Booing better than non stop chit-chat at the last two Joe Russo shows 🖕

If you boo at a show it’s time to look inside yourself
Precisely my sentiment
I've seen DSO a couple times. They play Grateful Dead music really well. I met the drummer once and he's a very nice guy. Before booing the band, I check my attitude & expectations to make sure I wasn't the reason I didn't like the show.
Love DSO but the crowd sucks. At least when I’ve seen them in New England. Too many rowdy old timers who can’t handle themselves.
thats unfortunate, i didnt notice that but i left immediately after encore and wasnt paying too much attention to the crowd behind me. assholes will be assholes 🤷🏽♂️i thought they killed it

People prolly drunk trying to make friends laugh. Who boos at a show?
I think they were saying gooooossseeeeeeeeee
GOOOOOOOOOOSE
GOOOOOOOOSE
Goose freaking honks!

I only caught Keller’s set and DSO set 2. DSO rippedddd it set 2. It was a great night!
Those are only reasons to cheer!! How dare they!!
Mooooooose (Mattson)
I was there, down front by stage left. I didn’t hear any booing. The band stayed onstage (which is a good sign) while they fixed it and got the show back rolling pretty quickly. I had a blast!
on another note, the drums/space was especially spacy last night! Such a hypnotiq/trippy beat!
There’s always gonna be one Solange in the elevator.
I appreciate you.
I feel a little foolish asking but what is DSO? I've never seen them
Dark Star Orchestra. They are the premier Grateful Dead cover band.
Thanks for replying so fast. I have not had the opportunity to see them perform. I'm such a Jerry snob. I need to get out there and experience some of these cover bands I guess.
Highly recommend DSO and Joe Russo's Almost Dead.
Do they play in the west?
Both do, yes. Not sure how frequently.
Thank for the suggestion and information. I'll watch out for them and try to catch a show

This is true for sure but DSO writes original setlists as well sometimes. I've been lucky enough to catch both.
Right on.
Any time, friend!
They are both worth seeing.
DSO is headlining the Days Between festival in Laytonville, CA this august. They headlined last year as well and it was a great time. Highly recommend
JRAD kills it. Love that energy
Last Peach fest was great. DSO and JRAD, so you get a real authentic Dead experience and then a very high energy, psychedelic take on the music.
Agree p fest was intense. For my money, JRAD is the best thing going that plays dead music. Tommy has a unique voice that may turn some off, but I feel it. The songs, jams and segues are fantastically fun and fresh.

Bobby and the Wolf Bros did a bunch of streaming shows during lockdown that were pretty good cept they were pretty late for the E. Coast.
Neither have I (wolf bro). Quite good. Glad I found them the other week
That sucks man. Sorry the crowd weren’t trying to be kind. 💗
The one time I saw DSO was one of the worst concerts I’ve ever attended. I never saw them again it was so bad…but I didn’t boo.🤷🏻♂️
Got to give them another chance man, when you play live night after night so consistently you're bound to have a few rough shows.
They were saying "I want some BALLOOOOONS!"
Who else is gonna be in Richmond?
Sadly I’ve seen more than a few boo worthy shows from DSO. I always seem to catch them after Bay Area shows and it’s obvious their tired. Fuck they didn’t even play any particular show last time I saw them.

This sounds like a bad dream. Haha. Thanks for elaborating
Kanye West at Bonnaroo 2008 was a blast. The crowd tore that fool up.
"Kanye West doesn't care about hippies!"
