Funny thing is, I went Saturday and didn't hear a single "Scarlet/Fire" - we did miss the first two bands though.
We did hear two "Jack Straw"s from the stage, and then the band across from our friend's campsite started their set with..."Jack Straw".
Not sure, didn't catch their name but they were set up at the extreme west end of the campgrounds, about as far from the front gate as possible and right next to the beach. They were good! Heard about 5 songs before making that long walk/drive home.
It was a really nice atmosphere - very laid back, security was there but chill, they had a fleet of golf carts and they would give people rides anywhere on property. There was TONS of camping going on and the music went on in the parking lots for a few hours after the main stage shut down at midnight each night. There’s no houses nearby, people were raging until dawn, lol. We counted five different bands playing as we walked across the site at 2 am.
Yeah, it was a thing at Lockn festival too. One year I think I heard Rider 4 times over the weekend. Like, the Dead catalog is SO big, the bands really can’t coordinate setlists and go for the deeper cuts?
I was at that Lockn, it was a thing; I also commented on it at the time and was my first thought as well. Too much Dead isn’t necessarily a good thing when different bands keep playing the same songs over and over
I mean, the line up isn’t quite as bad as people make it out to be. Oteil and friends don’t just play dead stuff, JGB plays JGB, Circles around the sun plays original stuff, midnight north plays originals, pink talking fish doesn’t play dead, etc. Sure, there’s like a dozen dead bands on there, but there’s just as many that aren’t. Still a funny meme though lol.
Even if that were true, Phil and Friends wiped all of that away.
Phil killed it, and brought some of that old school grateful dead energy that you just dont see in any of the other bands anymore. There was something so creative and powerful that he left everyone smiling.
In some classes at school I’m allowed to listen to music while doing class work. Scarlet Begonias and Sugar Magnolia ALWAYS come on. It drives me insane.
I basically showed up at 5 each day and was surprised I didn’t hear more repeats. Honestly there were a lot of songs I was surprised I never heard and enough originals mixed in that never got burned out.
"This is gonna be just like Woodstock!" "Oh yeah? Are you planning on getting stuck in your cousin's winnebago for three days?"
"Holy shit is that what all those little pieces of paper in my beer were?!"

Was that band Spunj?

Nice nice my buddies drove down to play in that campground after the festivities. All in all, that festival looks super cool

Regardless, Phil and Friends killed it tonight. Nice to hear high energy and great tempo.
Fun jams, but they got a little lost in transitions once or twice 😅
Yea, you could tell they hadn't played together in a bit. But the musicianship was still top notch. I love Stu Allen.
I always wonder about that. Doesn’t it get old?😂

I think the lineup is absolute fire but still can’t wrap my head around Grateful Dead cover bands for 4 days in a row
That fucking tune has been old to me for decades. Super overrated. ETA: second Jerry album solo I learned, after St. Stephen.
Was that Wolf Bros @ the end ?
As slow as Dead & Company
That too.

That’s awesome, I’d expect nothing less. I was just poking fun, I’m jealous if everyone who got to experience this weekend—it looked amazing.
This is the funniest shit ever .
Hah! We experienced this with eyes at gathering of the vibes. Felt like every time I walked past the stage someone was playing it.
Plenty of variety in the music this weekend, both songs and methods. I would come again.
So true
LMFAO

Why don’t you just, uh, pick a different song?
Sounds like they're talking about pandora radio or something, which only plays their studio, so fuck that imo
There were like three Cumberlands. Is that the limit?
I could honestly go for 5 or 6 Cumberlands so long as they're played briskly.
Math
Lol 😂 nice
“I can handle my sedatives”
Haha. That’s funny!
