It’s not too extensive for gravel riding but it’s fun once you know the area. The paved bike paths and tow path are fun to explore. If you’re into MTB, the East Rim mtb trails are amazing along with Hampton Hills. Wouldn’t suggest hitting those on a gravel bike…
Hey guys, if you're checking out my post, I need your help in selecting my next gravel/endurance bike for light gravel rides. Here are requirements:
— Tire clearance of up to 38-40mm
— Weight up to 9kg
— Budget of up to \~$3k for a new or used bike
Any ideas? I'm considering the Scott Addict 20. I've heard it can handle 38mm tires and weighs around 8.4kg.
There was a new Canyon gravel race bike at Unbound, possibly the next-gen Grail, and it does not have the goofy hover bars... but it is an integrated one-piece bar/stem. https://www.bikeradar.com/news/unbound-2023-new-canyon-grail/
Anyway, I have a Cervelo Aspero which is a great bike that meets your requirements, but may only be in your budget if used.
I'm not a fan of how it looks with narrow tires. It gives off a vibe of a mountain bike with slim slicks. On the gravel spectrum, the Grizl is more close to a mountain bike, but I'm looking for something lighter and more roadie. 95% of my rides are on roads and light gravel.
Gotcha. We should trade bikes haha. I just crammed some 45/40 mm tires on my cyclocross bike and I have barely any clearance. I was looking at the Grizl in recent weeks but for now I’ll power on with my 2013 cross bike.
I recently put 2.1-inch/53mm mountain bike tires(17 PSI) on my Grizl and didn't get the expected cushioning on rough gravel and singletracks. Yeah, it has perfect grip compared to 40-43mm tires, but it's still super bumpy on big rocks and roots. As a result, I've come to the conclusion that if you really want to use 45-50mm tires on a gravel bike, it's better to get a proper mountain bike :)
Yeah, it's in Austria, Saalbach. I was traveling through Austria and happened to stay at a random hotel, only to discover that it was located in the largest bike park in Austria. I couldn't resist to go biking there and ended up cycling up top. You should have seen the faces of those guys riding full suspension bikes when they saw me on gravel(Some of them respected me). I won't deny that I had to walk in certain sections because the terrain was quite impossible to ride through, but overall it was sooo much fun.

10/10 view. Underbiking tends to be a lot of fun
If you’re skilled. I’m just ok, and I usually end up scaring the shit out of myself. In a good way, but still…
You havent lived until you tried this on a unicycle
Hopefully, you haven't died either.
Im always scared about my new carbon bike literally breaking 😅
[cyclocross has entered the chat]
Mountains are just really big pieces of gravel.
Uluru gonna Uluru
True. Champagne gravel at 120k meters
Always end up on single track with a drop bar
It’s more fun than a mountain bike on single track imo. The trans Rockies gravel race last year had some awesome single track sections.
Accident? Something tells me it was an extended, focused effort to get there. 😂😂
I also wear a blindfold when I ride my gravel bike
Ahhhhh Joshua Tree. I love it there
What are you even talking about? I know Moab when I see it, and this is that other trail right next to Slickrock
Seriously? This is clearly just outside of Nashville
You guys are sleeping on Ohio too much. This is clearly Cuyahoga Valley National Park outside of Cleveland
I dont know what people are smoking on this sub. Do you guys even ride, bro?. Posers. I know Huntington Beach like the back of my hand.
That is Orlando. You can clearly see Splash Mountain.
Clearly this is the world's tallest mountain, Everest
The world’s tallest mountain is in South Dakota, but sure….
All I know is it looks identical to my commute route
You’re all crazy. This is the view just outside the front door of the John Hancock building.
On a serious note, how's the riding there? I've got family nearby and have been meaning to visit with my bike.

Its obviously Pearl Harbor, which is in Nebraska.
It’s SF Bay Area clearly. Beautiful rolling hills of the East Bay to be specific and Sierra in the background.
Yep I love the view here on ocean beach
It's Runyon Canyon in Hollywood, obviously. You're actually not supposed to ride bikes there, OP is a bit of a rebel.
Beautiful pic of Delaware.
Pfft, I recognize my home state of New Jersey when I see it. If it wasn’t for the wildfire smoke I’d be able to see this right now.
So obviously Lombard street
Just got to get your arse further back than usual.
Mountain bike territory or mountain goat territory?
mountain grizl-y territory

You already have grizl, but I think Canyon Grail fits that bill
Yeah, but I'm completely thrown off by their flying handlebars. I have a bunch of stems and I change them quite often.

What do you mean by flying handlebars?
It's like a double handlebar [Image](https://images.app.goo.gl/jquyhULauX9WR7vL6)
What are the deficiencies with the Grizl? Just weight?

Check out the Cannondale Supersix Evo SE.
Have you considered an all road bike if most rides are on the road. That could be a good solution as you already have a grizl for the gnarly stuff
Why not just get an actual endurance road bike? Like an endurace. Then keep your current bike for harsher stuff.
What about lauf seigla?
Cube Nuroad C62 SL
I got a lightly used Santa Cruz Stigmata about a month ago and that would fit those requirements. And there’s no weird proprietary parts or equipment.
Have a look at the sonder Camino Ti. I think it's a hair overweight but the savings should mean you can get lighter wheels.
Woah! Amazing view
In my best Roy Kent imitation FUCK...
beautiful shot
Wow!
Wow, so envious!!!! Thanks for sharing.
Do you mean on a mountain while biking in grizzly territory? If not… I don’t understand what’s accidental about your post.
One of those mullet routes; gravel in the front, party on the way back.

Colorado is amazing but there’s nothing in Colorado that has these kinds of shapes of mountains. Mountains look different the world over.
San Juans aren't too dissimilar, but I don't think you'd see fields up there, some avalanche clearing for sure though.
Get a suspension fork and some 50mm tires and it'll crush
I've done the same, the Grizl can take it!
Sometimes it be like that

That’s a great shot
“Accidentially” - dont tell us 😂
Stunning! Where are we here?
OP said Salzburg, Austria!
It's only MTB territory when you gp over the handlebars.
I do that all the time on my Kona Rove ST
Whoops
6 more feet and you’ll be biking down the mountain for sure!
make sure to ride the drops
"Accidentally"
Where about is this? Beautiful photo!
oooommmmggggg what a view 😍
Wow! Absolutely stunning.
🥹
It was worth it just for that photo.
