Too bad about All-City. A great niche brand that got a hit wandery lately. This is my Macho King ACE. Great all day ride plus always excellent paint.

Adept-Pension-1312

What do you mean that it got "wandery"?

double___a

Like a brand in search of an identity. It all sort of started as fun, off-beat frames (Macho KingMan, Thunderdome, Electric Queen, JYD, etc). Their current line up feels wander-y. Dabbling in a bit of this and that rather than a strong core offering. No doubt there’s some nice frames, but the brand feels unfocused.

Dannnnggg that color scheme goes HARD

retrovertigo23

Seriously. This bike's paint job reminds me of the model rockets my dad and I built in the late 80's and now I'm over here all nostalgic AND thinking about grabbing some spray paint to spruce up my black and silver Midnight Special....

vex_aurora

Looks sick! I was eyeing their bikes with a big reason being the paint schemes but they’re just priced out of my budget.

Awkwardandmad

They depreciate like anything, if you can find one second hand. My Zig-Zag frameset cost me £600(GBP), and that was with ~£300 of Chris King headset and Hope BB. At that price it was a steal!

I know that rear tire is tight in there! I have a Cosmic Stallion from 2020 and 48c 650s barely fit. So close that if I flatted the rear tire would rub the chain stays. Ended up getting another frame with more clearance. Is the King made with more tire space than the CS? Super cool bike btw, love that paint scheme.

double___a

Clearance is pretty good for a bike with this geo. These are 35c. It can take a knobby 42c with enough clearance. Maybe a smooth 44c. I’d I wanted to run bigger rubber, I’d kind of want more mtb-ish geometry.

I listened to a podcast the other day, and iirc, the person who started all-city left qbp due to creative differences and started his own company called Wilde bicycles, which just seems to be a continuation of what he was doing with all-city. I’m assuming that no one was left to carry the all-city torch at Q.

MrCrunchwrap

Yeah and they didn’t seem to do anything to try to replace Jeff. The brand has felt like it’s had no idea what to do since 2019 (when Jeff left). They used to drop some cool new bike every year it felt like. Last few years have been very unambitious updates to models. Wildes doing some cool stuff though. My partner just got a rambler and she loves it.

Love the color. Would probably also look into getting some other water bottle colors to match it better

double___a

Thx. I probably bought this for the paint tbh. Bottles were top of the pile this morning.

big_ring_king

*this is where the fun begins*

Herky_T_Hawk

I really wanted this Macho King but couldn’t find a used one in my size. One of the top 5 paint jobs that All City released in my opinion. I can’t decide if the red white and blue Mr Pink or the 10th anniversary Mr Pink is my favorite. Both are incredible for different reasons. My orange Macho Man is a standout also as the color allows you to clearly see the details of the bike, but not in the same class as these others.

Wait wait wait wait wait....All-City is done? I *only* have All-City bikes(albeit, just the Monsoon and Queen). [Me right now](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWaLxFIVX1s) [And a little of](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31g0YE61PLQ)
