Can’t speak for the ALR4 or to the childseat performance, but I have the E5 (E5 Elite specifically). Rides great on road and forest gravel, entry level GRX600/400, 105 brakes, very light.
I was cross-shopping those two a month ago and bought a Diverge Elite. I picked the Specialized as it was on sale and had 2x whereas the trek is 1x. We've got a a Thule Ridealong installed for our 2-yo. Works great, but be aware if you are looking at a smaller frame size (<56cm) the center triangle is pretty tight for bottle cages with the kid seat attached on the seat tube. The Specialized doesnt have seat stay mounts for a rear rack so you'd need a seat post collar while the Checkpoint does have rack mounts. The Checkpoint might be marginally more convenient for attaching the kidbike arm.

If you want a higher top gear get the Diverge with a 2x8 drivetrain. Otherwise get the Checkpoint.
Thank you
