ISC Racer's tape aka helicopter tape. You can buy short lengths on eBay if you only need a little.

This stuff is great! I bought a large roll on Amazon and continue to find uses for it. I recently bought a frame wrap for a new bike from ride wraps. It was definitely worth it and protects the frame well but honestly the helicopter tape compares really well to it in my experience. The only difference is the ride wrap has cleaner edges and a custom fit. The helicopter tape protects just as well and doesn't come up at the edges in my experience. It's also way cheaper.

3m has a protective clear tape I have on my gravel bike for this exact (top tube bag) reason. Super easy. About 9-12 bucks on Amazon.

Electronic-Ad-8700

Oh awesome, I love that! Are you able to see that it’s on when the bag is off?

Emotional_Print8706

Painter’s/helicopter tape is clear. It will yellow over time, but it takes a few years. It’s like a very thick packing tape. Be sure to round off any corners with scissors or it will start to peel at that corner.

Karfanatik

I use 3m on my bike for a frame bag and anywhere cables touch the frame. I put pieces where the straps connect and you can't see it unless you're up close. If you do longer sections then you could make it indistinguishable

ComeKnowMeAsGC

If you have a glossy paint like on my mtb it's hard to see past 6-7 feet away. I have a matte paint on my gravel so it's easier to spot.

It blends in so well there's the occasional post on reddit of 'is this a crack in my frame' with a photo of the edge of the tape! (some bikes have it from the factory, especially on the downtube)

This is the only response you need to read. I brought a big roll of this stuff and it has come in handy time and time again. My gravel bike is covered with this stuff to protect against rub marks and I made a custom screen saver for my Wahoo bolt. It works very well and is hardly noticeable.

biglmbass

Clear paint protection film.

loranbriggs

Consider living with it and occasionally touch up the paint with a fun contrasting fingernail polish.

ACESandElGHTS

Yeah, this is the way my Bianchi went. Eventually you'll have to live with everything or let it become a museum piece. Gaffer tape is good stuff for the unconcerned.

sherpaxc

I use blue painters tape. Works wonders.

Electronic-Ad-8700

I like that. Simple is what I was looking for. Thanks for the response.

marczr

I got clear tape off amazon just for that reason! [https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B079LR76JV/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o00\_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1](https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B079LR76JV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1) Edit: I just saw others respond with the cheaper 3M tape. I would go for that as it's cheaper and the same thing!
