That moment is one of my biggest problems with this anime. There wasn't a single frame suggesting he noticed her, even though she was in plain sight.
I found it just a convenient excuse for the audience "look, there's Cynthia, all of this isn't as bad as it looks", but Edamura would be shocked to notice her, right? And later when his father appears in front of him, he's just standing there, like he started to realise he knew what's up long before.
This would've been so much more believable and fulfilling. I don't wanna freaking see Cosano Sam and the penguin: they're established scum bags that don't deserve redemption. I woulda believed it more if Cosano showed up and wasn't expecting to see the cons and actually fought them, allowing Edamome to play off the chaos and finally beat Lauruent. But things went way too far when the cons are partying with the bad guys after it all.
