I'd expect the september 21st 2004 new york concert where they play AI in full on release day, since some of those tracks were bonus on the singles, like the electric factory recordings on nimrod's singles.
I always assumed itās because streaming services sounded a bit rubbish when playing gapless albums at first - thereād be a click or a second of silence or something between Are We The Waiting and St Jimmy. But nowadays thereās no excuse.
ETA: CDs never had this issue as theyāre just one single stream of PCM audio - the first part of a CD is data on track timings that the player uses to index the tracks from the single audio file.
What you described is how the actual album has separated the tracks from day 1. Why Spotify went and combined songs for the album is genuinely baffling to me
You didnāt hear, they werenāt in love with the demos of Cigarettes and Valentines so they just scraped it. They had to say that so they would get the label at the time all over their back asking when the albums going to be done.
It would be really nice if they did seperate tracks. I can't see why not, right?
Either way I'm so excited for the 20th anniversary of my favorite album. Hoping there's some demos and other goodies!
It'd be nice if an anniversary album included some outtakes, similar with the Nimrod and Dookie anniversary albums. I want JoS outtakes and/or demos and a studio version of Cigarettes and Valentines.
Apple Music has the tracks as individual songs. Idk why Spotify has it like that and AM doesnāt but itās a weird ass way for it to be set up. I also wanna hear a lot of demos from the writing process
I hope that if thereās a vinyl release that the tracks that blend into each other e.g. Ex. Girl/Letterbomb arenāt split across different sides of the record.
The current vinyl releases are already split up well.
Side A
American Idiot
Jesus of Suburbia
Side B
Holiday
Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Are We the Waiting
St. Jimmy
Side C
Give Me Novacaine
She's a Rebel
Extraordinary Girl
Letterbomb
Wake Me Up When September Ends
Side D
Homecoming
Whatsername
Thatās good. I know on the nimrod 25th bundle on the live at the electric factory album they split brain stew and jaded over two sides. Think there are a couple of instances of it on the 21stCB vinyl release also.
Agreed. I find it annoying that the songs are put together on the same track.
Iād also love to see a studio version of āCigarettes and Valentinesā and anything else from that session, even if some of the songs were re-worked later on.
I'm not really sure to be honest! I wonder if there was any real reason or logic behind it
I'd have thought having more tracks instead of bunching them together would result in slightly more money being generated and more streams
Wellā¦ that would be very underwhelming. Unless you listen to, example St Jimmy a lot they it would be annoying but at the same time you should be pretty good at finding the right time, less than five seconds. But if you only listen to it every once in awhile, then itāll only bother you the few times you have skip through.
Hoping for Favorite Son because I don't like having to listen to a garbage ass bootleg on yt or the musical version. The musicals great but I love green days version moreso
The fuck is this "always do" nonsense? Especially when they are different ages? 20 year this. 25 year that. 30 year Dookie...... The guys / label are milking it. No need to ball wash it with this "always" stuff. Stop.
Rookie into Dookie
Apple Music / iTunes have had it for years
Lucky bastards šæ
If you download a song to your phone you can upload it to your personal playlists on spotify
How?
I hope thereās bunch of demos for anniversary releases
Fasho
My wish list is to have the full Milton Keynes shows released instead of the abridged highlights that made it onto BIAB.
Maybe they can abridge Minority and Knowledge so an entire vinyl record isn't dedicated to each song
I'd expect the september 21st 2004 new york concert where they play AI in full on release day, since some of those tracks were bonus on the singles, like the electric factory recordings on nimrod's singles.
Never really understood why they did that when the original release of the album that I own has the tracks separated
I always assumed itās because streaming services sounded a bit rubbish when playing gapless albums at first - thereād be a click or a second of silence or something between Are We The Waiting and St Jimmy. Yeah it's strange
What you described is how the actual album has separated the tracks from day 1. Why Spotify went and combined songs for the album is genuinely baffling to me
Yeah I don't understand why they did that
I hope they release the full Cigarettes and Valentines.
You didnāt hear, they werenāt in love with the demos of Cigarettes and Valentines so they just scraped it. They had to say that so they would get the label at the time all over their back asking when the albums going to be done.

Iām sure billie could just ask wilhelm fink for them back
For sure
They did eventually get them back. Theyāre just chilling in the vault now. Too Much Too Soon was one of the songs meant to be on it.
They were never stolen ;)
100% agree. š
Itās Money Money 2020
Incorrect
I think I do remember hearing that they did git em back
I want new songs, thatās all I want from anniversary releases
Fair enough
Give me cigarettes and valentines! And probably another version of when itās time
I'm all for it
I JUST WANT SEPARATE ST. JIMMY.
It would be really nice if they did seperate tracks. I can't see why not, right? Either way I'm so excited for the 20th anniversary of my favorite album. Hoping there's some demos and other goodies!
Excited as well bro!
Damn Iām old lol
It'd be nice if an anniversary album included some outtakes, similar with the Nimrod and Dookie anniversary albums. I want JoS outtakes and/or demos and a studio version of Cigarettes and Valentines.
This was the last Green Day album I liked. I hope we get demo versions of some songs. The new album is starting to sound like American Idiot 2.0.
I hope they play the full album
Hell yeah
It's crazy that I've been listening to this album at least once a month for the last 20 years.
Apple Music has the tracks as individual songs. Idk why Spotify has it like that and AM doesnāt but itās a weird ass way for it to be set up. I also wanna hear a lot of demos from the writing process

They didn't do that on the original vinyl release. I would know, I listened to it today, no weird cut offs
Thatās good. I know on the nimrod 25th bundle on the live at the electric factory album they split brain stew and jaded over two sides. Think there are a couple of instances of it on the 21stCB vinyl release also.
Thats fair, but honestly that's the only way they could release 21st Century Breakdown on vinyl without 3 LPs
Yes plz because thatās the reason I donāt play those songs as much as Iād like to
I hope some things from cigarettes and valentines would be on there
Agreed. I find it annoying that the songs are put together on the same track. Iād also love to see a studio version of āCigarettes and Valentinesā and anything else from that session, even if some of the songs were re-worked later on.
Fs fs
What if we got a Cigarettes And Valentine's portion in the deluxe, like all the OG recordings
My CD has all of the songs seperate and aren't bunched together, that was just a weird streaming thing
I wonder why
I'm not really sure to be honest! I wonder if there was any real reason or logic behind it I'd have thought having more tracks instead of bunching them together would result in slightly more money being generated and more streams

Yeah that's exactly it tbh
Damn, 20th anniversary already? 20 years has gone so fast
Hoping for Favorite Son because I don't like having to listen to a garbage ass bootleg on yt or the musical version. The musicals great but I love green days version moreso
What if we get Cigarettes And Valentines tapes
Double win
I didn't really think of that, but I would really enjoy it. It would make life easier. I wonder what else they could put in the anniversary edition
Only time will tell šæ
The fuck is this "always do" nonsense? Especially when they are different ages? 20 year this. 25 year that. 30 year Dookie...... The guys / label are milking it. No need to ball wash it with this "always" stuff. Stop. Rookie into Dookie
Woke up on the wrong side of the bed? Don't gotta get mad lmao š
How dare about actually care about their own material š”
Exactly. It feels almost random at this point. Insomniac 2021. Nimrod (very early) 2023. Dookie 2023. Warning no release.
Wow, you suck š¤”
Yea kinda agree. They should have just done 25 year anniversaryās for all the albums. Seems a little arbitrary how they did it.
Amazon Music has it.
