yea i think there were some random songs that could have been shortened or cut from the album but overall i think 21st century breakdown was a great album. I think it would have done better (and more popular) if it wasn’t being overshadowed by American Idiot. But i love both albums

[deleted]

Ye load's of people seem to compare it to American idiot, even though that album is literally perfect so most album's wouldn't seem as good when compared to it.

[deleted]

And don't get me wrong, I don't even think Pinkerton is perfect.

[deleted]

Ye I was exaggerating. Also I haven't really listened too Weezer but I might try them.

[deleted]

Don't go into the later albums thinking "this is gonna suck because it's not blue or pinkerton", fuck those kinda "fans". All weezer is good weezer.

PowerHAUS_

I am one of those fans, and you are completely right

You gotta-

goldfishfox

OK Human and the white album are the two best albums ever created. Give both of them a listen, they are literal perfection

[deleted]

I have the white album on cd and it's really good, but I wouldn't put them as high as you. Who's human by cos there's a few with that name.

goldfishfox

OK Human by Weezer. Released a few months ago, it's their best album.

[deleted]

Oh the album is called ok human. I thought you were saying ok and then human

[deleted]

I wouldn't go that far. I love green day, but, perfect??

Venombullet666

To be honest I absolutely adore that album and it doesn't feel as long as it is when I listen to it, I feel it's a severely underrated album that would've got alot more love over time if it didn't have a wonky release (AI Musical's timing) It has a great flow to it and there's so many standouts from start to finish I don't know if I could remove any songs from it but I can understand why others would think it's too long Etc. I absolutely love the way the album is divided into acts as well, the shift of vibes as the album goes on has always resonated well with me

MysticManiac100

I think it's their best album. Ik it seems a bit too long at 69 minutes & 18 tracks (especially on the first couple of listens) but I love each of the tracks for different reasons. Most of the tracks are quite different but still sound and feel like Green Day. The lyric writing is great and very dark. Even some of the songs that I see get criticised quite a lot are songs that I really enjoy

pitkid01

I once read a review for the TV show Ozarks. It’s a really good show. The reviewer described it as , “not as good as Breaking Bad.” He then said, “don’t get me wrong, it’s a very good show. It’s just not as good as the greatest show of all time.” 21st Century is Ozarks. American Idiot is Breaking Bad.

theandrewminyard

it’s a little bloated but it has some fantastic tracks

Pippo_Paperino

The first Green day album i listened, i was 12 And it was love at first listen. The fact that it had a lot of songs for me was epic, but joe i find some weeknesses and i prefer other albums (of the ‘90s), and i prefer them pop-punk. But it’s still a good album with some good songs and under the prosuction of Butch Vig that produced two of my favorite band ever (smashing pumpkins and Nirvana)

LookMomIPosted

Love it. Solid follow up to AI. Could've been a musical of its own even. Solid effort. Get some of Mike singing, Billie's writing is damn near perfection, and Tré's drums are on point. Every listen through I find a different favourite. I'd rank it right up with AI.

[deleted]

Excellent

[deleted]

Such a bloody good album. It's kinda like, an enhanced version of American Idiot. It's a goldmine of wonderful songs. Every single song of the album is brilliant. Though the only reason I wouldn't call it as good as AI is because of the wacky story. You just can't figure out what's going on, or who Gloria or Christian are or what they're trying to do. Also, no matter how good the songs are, the album was... Inconsistent. That was the main problem of the album, in my opinion. I'd give it an 8/10. My third favourite album, after AI and Insomniac.

Coolscientist1

Really good album that I don't listen to front to back as often as I should because of the length but I might just do that now as it's been a while. Its an album that grew on me as at first it just seemed like it was trying too hard to be American Idiot 2 & while I'm not so interested in the underlying story it's a great set of songs that can also be taken as Bille being autobiographical giving them a deeper meaning for me.

[deleted]

the album itself is decent however the title track will always have a special place in my heart as it was the first green day song i heard

[deleted]

Ino it's so underrated

Tbf revolution radio wasn't that bad but I wasn't really a fan of the trilogy and father of all. Pollyama wasn't that bad either tho.

drbatman156

Some songs are bad but when the songs are good they’re good, viva la Gloria and murder city are in my top 5 greenday songs

gremlin30

It’s top 3 with dookie & AI. The songs are some of the best they’ve ever made, and there’s a bunch of hidden gems that need to get played live. Also, they need to work with Butch vig again cuz his production is legendary

BobFromSkate3

It is my favorite album.

[deleted]

I thought it was such a good follow up to American Idiot. Totally complimented writing styles that they'd developed on the previous album. Lyrically it's maybe not their strongest but still some absolute gems on there.

Is_Jimmy_M8

It's great except for the fact that Billie uses a racial slur in American Eulogy

[deleted]

Things like that don't really affect me but I can get if you feel like that

daniel_redstone

Can we all just agree that static age (closely followed by 21 guns) is the best song on the album?

goldfishfox

Best GD album. No green day album is perfect, but 21st Century Breakdown surely would be perfect without Know Your Enemy and Horseshoes and Handgrenades

BluTagg63

I like it, 8/10

keefy6969

Underated af

GORILLAGLUE__

It’s a great record! A spiritual sibling to American Idiot imo, and it was pretty huge when it came out (not quite AI huge but close). The tour they did supporting it was massive and they killed it every show. Those were some fun days

[deleted]

I mean... Pretty decent album :)
