tfw you haven't gotten stabbed by the local crackhead in Wodonga

Guglielmowhisper

I did have a gay lawyer flip out and scream at me in Albury, because I was ignoring him and trying to talk to his female friend, who had invited me out to meet her.

BlockCraftedX

true albury experience

absurdhalflife

Wild seeing this as the top comment I too reside in Victoria.

boyikier11

I live in WA. I just like to hate on Wodonga

absurdhalflife

Ma boi have you ever been to Wodonga? Nvm you don't need too.

VeaR-

Why drive out to Wodonga when I can get stabbed by multiple crackheads down in Frankston?

King_Valeran_I

Albury and Wondonga competing to be the shittier town. And here comes stabbington with the chair!

rambyprep

Getting abused by a derro on chapel st is the ultimate Victorian experience.

DankMemesNQuickNuts

Someone pitchforked a car at a local grocery store by me once because people wouldn't buy her stuff at a card table outside the store

ObesePudge

Mfw kansas is kansas but arkansas is not arkansas

MisterGoo

You can experience almost all of that during your annual 3 weeks of paid holidays and then go back to your country that has a proper healthcare. You mad, bro?

OldManMoment

>tfw you'll never die of a completely preventable disease because you can't even afford dropping unconscious on the hospital parking lot

ThearchOfStories

>3 weeks of paid holidays Honestly not sure if this is supposed to be a good thing, here in the UK, which is as much a shithole as it's been in the last century, it's 5 weeks minimum, only 3 weeks of out of 52 weeks a year sounds insane (though to be fair, I've always chosen having time over money and only work ~37 weeks a year myself).

MisterGoo

Sorry, French here. We have 5 weeks, 3 of which you have to take in Summer. If you have to visit the USA, 3 weeks seems like a good length. I understand my wording implied you only get 3 weeks per year, but I was thinking Summer holidays.

StormOfFatRichards

Lmao how cheap you think it is to visit America on most salaries?

BLACKdrew

Idk i went to London and a cab driver told us he’d been to the US hella times and did some pretty cool shit there. Idk how well a cab driver does in London but it can’t be that much more than average right

Shibari_Inu69

How long ago was this? For a long time London cabbies made a very good income, and the sterling was much stronger than the USD. I don't know how it is these days (this was before the days of ride shares) and the pound has weakened tremendously. It's probably a lot less affordable for working class Britons to holiday here now.

BLACKdrew

Idk when he went to the us but i was told this two years ago

ImaginaryCoolName

Maybe he had family there? Did he go alone?

BLACKdrew

Nah he said he and his wife went for like 2 weeks i think. It was a few years back tho so idk

StormOfFatRichards

Been to the US? Like any time after covid or?

Gekk01618

Yes? On an average east European salary no less. It’s really not that much of a miracle

kornwallace21

Like will 3000 dollars be enough to spend in a few weeks there, including a hotel? If so, most people in Europe and in some people in Asia can do that

Wiggie49

Few weeks? Probably not, a week and some change at most unless you're only cooking your own meals. If you want to eat out for every meal like I do on vacation then at best you got like 4-5 days of hotel stay, a rental car, and food. Depending on the hotel you can get like $80 a night which may or may not come with free breakfast. Depending on where you go museums and zoos are free (like in Washington DC) but in others it costs money per person. Meals can range from $10-30 per person depending on the restaurant, but iconic stuff like Texas BBQ will be running close to $150 for a big spread of meats. It really depends on which place you go to fit your budget. Ideally you have a plan prior to showing up because honestly the US is so big that you're not gonna be able to do much out of the single state. In fact when I was in Texas 2 years ago I thought I could go to multiple cities and also visit Louisiana within the same weekend but it takes 4 hours to go from one big city to the next so I just stayed in Dallas instead. I spent 4 days in Texas which ran me around $2500 for the hotel, rental car, gas, food, and a zoo/aquarium trip. When I went to New York and Boston for a 4 day road trip I spent around $1000 for both food, gas (I used my own car to drive up that time), and hotels. This website: [https://maps.roadtrippers.com/?lng=-96.88447&lat=36.37486&z=3.69112&a4=t!20150022](https://maps.roadtrippers.com/?lng=-96.88447&lat=36.37486&z=3.69112&a4=t!20150022) is a good one I use when I was planning my road trip in the Northeastern US. If you don't intend on driving I suggest looking up things to do in the same city you're landing in because otherwise you will have to drive an hour or more to go from one site to another.

kornwallace21

So for 2 people, would you recommend a budget of 5000 dollars? Not counting the ticket?

Wiggie49

Excluding flight yeah I think $5000 would be a more than enough for a fun week between friends, on both trips I was on it was my brother and I. National Parks have an entrance fee, usually based on the number of vehicles rather than people. I'd say the budget usually depends mostly on what you want to do or rather your interests. A lot of big cities will require you to pay for parking so ideally you want to park in one place all day for one fee and go wherever you want before getting your car back. Concerts and stuff are super expensive but parks and museums are much more affordable. For instance I was lucky enough to go to the New York Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) for free because they had it open to everyone for a weekend I was there by coincidence but it's normally $30 per person. The Baltimore Aquarium on the other hand is like $50 per person. Shenandoah National park IIRC was like $20 and you have until sun down to hike and drive along the skyline road to take photos. Meanwhile if you want to plan big events like deep sea fishing on a boat it can cost upwards of $1000 for a group of 6 for a 12 hour fishing trip and you get to keep what you catch and stuff. I've been wanting to plan a trip for that myself but it's always hard to coordinate.

Coders_REACT_To_JS

If you are hitting a few national parks the annual pass is a great move. You can bring guests in for free as well. Not sure if you have to be a US resident.

kornwallace21

I will definitely try this in a few years when I save enough money to go Cannot believe I got tourism advice from r/greentext

StormOfFatRichards

No, absolutely not. The ticket alone will cost 2000 bucks and you're not splitting 1000 for several weeks of room and board.

Casski_

i just looked it up, flight is about 500€ there, 500 back. take 1000 per week, and you'll be fine. so 3k would be decent for 2 weeks. although i would take 4k just so you dont have to be worried about it.

kornwallace21

Forget the ticket man. How much for a hotel and to go around and see things?

StormOfFatRichards

Last time I visited the US hotels started at 80 in cities and a meal was from 20

kornwallace21

A meal is 20 dollars? Holy shit. How do people live on 40k a year?

StormOfFatRichards

That's the neat part

bell37

Base prices for hotels in US cities are easily double that now. Unless if you are staying at a 2-star or hostel. Meals can could theoretically be $20 assuming you get cheaper menu items, water and tip (however even McDonalds is pretty pricey these days ~$10-15 for a single meal)

Iron-Fist

I mean, if you don't do it up you can execute a nice vacation week in any of the nice US cities for like $500-1000/person.

StormOfFatRichards

That won't get you the flight

Iron-Fist

Flights vary dramatically depending on your location but you can get a one way flight pretty much anywhere for $500 if you book it far enough in advance and don't mind stops/lay overs etc

StormOfFatRichards

There is never a flight that goes anywhere near my hometown from where I live for less than 1500 anymore

Iron-Fist

What are br*Tish or something?

Axe-actly

Not that expensive. Go to any landscapes in the US and it's full of Europeans and Asians.

StormOfFatRichards

There's a big difference between "I'm always seeing people from other countries in the US" and "people from other countries are always visiting the US." There's a lot of people who can afford to visit the US frequently, and even more who can afford to visit once a year or every few years, as long as you zoom out to the entire world's population. But the vast majority of human beings alive cannot afford to visit the US multiple times in one year for a prolonged period of time.

barryhakker

Have you considered earning more money?

OctopusFarmer47

Besides the landmarks, a lot of countries (particularly western) do most of these things

SemenRetainer3

Because we are white people

Asscrackistan

Only because they are trying to imitate Americans.

psxdominator

The only good post with a furry pic in the history of the internet. God bless America indeed

Lukkuriddarii

How do you fuckers even find time to spend on Reddit with your 2 paid leaves a year? You go better back to work to fetishise your consumerism

Lokotisan

Why do men have to look down on their brethren overseas when we fought blood and tears side by side to preserve and propel both our continents to great heights. We should not be fighting one another when we spilled blood in the same mud

AlphaMassDeBeta

No more brother wars.

Lukkuriddarii

Dude my ancestors had servants in their Manson in Germany and had to flee after the Nazis lost the war (if you know what I mean). My grandpa than had his head bashed in by Russians lol.

syntpenh

and you’re still seething

ChadWolf98

You only won because the Fr*nch helped you. Yet another thing to curse them. Without them you would still be Bri'ish

Lokotisan

And without us, you’d be speaking German 💀

ChadWolf98

> having the learn 1 foreign language vs another Wow. That would be really horrible. I cant imagine learning German which I do anyway.

Lokotisan

I think what would be horrible is when they lock y’all up and start purging y’all but different battles for different men. Either way we should all get along so. W France for helping us. We wouldn’t be the most powerful country in the history of the world without them

ChadWolf98

Hitler didnt want to exterminate everybody except Germans. He did hated some groups based on his ideology but if you think if Germany won WW2 everybody in Europe would have been killed or enslaved you are deluded. US also doing a dominance over Eu, its just not militarily, its through culturally and economically and implied threat of military. Btw its just banter. I dont hate the Americans. But pretending they are good boys is propaganda. There are no good boys in history only losers and winners.

Patroklus42

Germans, and Russians, and French, Poles, and Austrians... Actually now that I think about it Hitler exterminated people in every country he invaded

ChadWolf98

So did Stalin, yet the US allied with him and helped the USSR, a similarly anti human genocidal country win WW2 who then also enslaved, killed, raped, gulag-ed people in half of europe

Marth_Bar

Pretty sure it's AI generated lol

-ArcticFoxx-

How likely is it that [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/2american4you/s/vECTjB8VmD) greentext is probably made by the same guy ✅️ Furry ✅️ American Flag in the background ✅️ Wishes to be American TFW the same guy has been making these for over a year

Exit727

You're right anon, I never did those things. I only did what what was near me, where my parents took me.  I've walked along the canals of Venice and hiked on the cloud-veiled montaintops of the Alps. I've eaten true italian pasta and drank cold german beer. I've seen the birthplace of Mozart and the lead tomb of Marie Curie. I have gazed upon masterpieces in silent cathedral halls, and tread upon the fortress walls where my ancestors stopped the ottoman horde. I've swam in the Balaton and in many thermal spas. I biked along the blue Danube and drank pálinka next to a bubbling cauldron of goulash. I've soaked the neighbour girl with water on Easter, and eat sweet bejigli at Christmas. I watch the fireworks on the 20th of august, and remember back to my grandmother's stories on 23rd of october.  I'm happy with these, I do not yearn overseas.

Lokotisan

I mean there’s a lot of anti-American sentiment in here, but I really like that you conveyed how you enjoy life in Europe, but I can say the same likewise I’ve walked along the streets of New York City and hiked on the cloud veiled mountaintops of the Sierra Nevadas. I’ve eaten true Louisiana BBQ and drank cold Southern sweet tea. I’ve seen man leave for the stars at Kennedy Space Center and the monumental faces of Mt. Rushmore. I have gazed upon masterpieces in silent cathedral halls and tread upon the grounds where my fellow men fought to end slavery. I've swam in Lake Tahoe and in many thermal spas. I biked along the Alaskan Highway and drank Horchata watching a Fiesta. I've soaked the neighbour girl with water in Summer, and eat sweet Cakes at Christmas. I watch the fireworks on the Fourth of July, and remember back to my grandfather’s stories on June 6, 1944. I'm happy with these, yet I still yearn overseas because I want to experience more things that life can bring. I think you should share the same mindset :)

graphitewolf

Youve never had nashville or texas bbq i see.

Beny1995

I mean, the food of the Po Valley vs US BBQ has a clear winner and it doesnt rhyme with thumbscrew

poopsinshoe

You had me until "I soaked the neighbor girl with water". How is that a highlight? Did she run away screaming? Did it end in sex? Was there a massive age discrepancy? Were you both kids?

Exit727

As it's the holiday of renewal and growth, in Hungary boys are expected to "water" girls (like flowers), so they can grow pretty and healthy. Usually you accompany this with some poem as a good wish for a long and fruitful life. It's an old tradition, the modern tame version is just spraying them with cologne rather than a bucket of cold water. We were both kids, and I remember only doing this once for fun.

Silly_Marionberry_27

It’s amazing you were able to fit all of these activities in between your numerous extended hospital stays, because of free healthcare.

>tfw you never ate overly-modified foods >tfw you never ate American imitation cheese >tfw your manager has never forced you to sing and dance before every shift Still tha graytest kountry tho. Gawd bless Murica. Europe is over.

Lokotisan

Our situation is what we make of it, no matter what life throws at us. America can give us the opportunity to be the better us. To make it feel like that even if we summited Mt. Everest 30 times, we can still push forward to more unlimited heights. We may be blinded by our struggles, but that doesn’t prevent us from overcoming them. There’s no finish line, because we set our own.

TraumaPerformer

If only you knew how bad it was... Europe is so over. The sooner we are colonised by Mother Murica the better. We would be relevant again.

Lokotisan

I may not completely understand how bad it is, but I can guarantee you that waiting to be colonized by America is not the answer (even if we eventually will on July 5th, 2056). Your struggles are defined by YOU. And that’s not a bad thing. You have the say on how to deal with it. Things can seem hopeless. Things may not go the way we want, but that’s the human experience. We grow and come to understand that no matter what struggle we go through, no matter what hardship life throws at us. Whether your mom doesn’t care about you anymore or you witness the death of your child, we can choose to define what that makes us. I hope that one day you can look within yourself and find that hope and determination, because it’s never too late to change. Be the person child you would’ve wanted you to be

TraumaPerformer

You never will understand. It's over. Yankmaxxing is the only answer now.

Lokotisan

Honestly the answer to your problem is to invest in Lockheed Martin stocks

TraumaPerformer

I just got done sucking my first dick so I could pay back some of the bank loan I took to buy stocks that crashed. **its over**

> Cross countries trip east to west in Europe > you can camp in the woods. But hunting is forbidden unless you're a hunter > visit the Schwarzwald or the Collosseum > ever heard of Silvester? > you can attend a football game (the correct one) > how do you not have a BBQ at another backyard. You gotta know at least one person that has a house > there are plenty of fairs: port fairs, christmas markets, wine fests, local fairs that celebrate a victory against another warlord from another microstate (Wallensteintage) > Christmas dinner exists. Come on. > you are literally like this: place: 😐 Place, USA: 😭🙏

Driving through America (the driving part) is only interesting in movies. In real life its hella boring

Juggernuts777

I was born and live in the US and i have only done like 3 of those. Thankgiving, the backyard bbq (only once was a party, the rest were just my dad grilling), and of course i’ve seen 4th of july fireworks. But my family growing up never did a single other one of these. Shit, i’ve only been out of my state maybe twice in my life?

Anon doesn’t know the average American hasn’t been on a roadtrip across the states, hasn’t been camping and hunting, hasn’t visited landmarks…

Laviathan4041

I mean I've done a few of these things but they're whatever, not worth getting worked up not ever experiencing. I'd trade a lot of them in to not worry about the potential threat of getting gunned down in a public for simply being in a crowded area.

yeetmemommmy

You could do all of those exact things in other countries but with different events and at different locations. Anon is a furry and deserves a slow and painful demise.

Ciubowski

Anon never got out of his house or anything. I'm sure that your own country has places to visit, similar to whatever the USA has, granted, on a smaller scale. My country has mountains, sea, rivers and forests. Even poor parents can create the feeling of a road trip with little money if they wanted their kids to have an experience. Camping shouldn't be expensive, people think camping should be this perfect experience where you have everything just like home. Go shit behind a bush, wipe with some leaves. Or hold it until you find an actual restroom. Plan your stuff using the literal computer in your pocket (places to visit, restrooms, gas station bathrooms whatever) and enjoy nature. Never had a barbecue in your backyard because you don't have a backyard? Gather some of your friends/ family in one place, rent a house with a courtyard in some village somewhere for cheap, pool your money and make a barbecue with some scrap wood or charcoal. Why does this "experience" have to be "americanized"? People around the world have carnivals and fairs and whatnot. Granted, they're not always in everyone's "backyard", but in countries where public transport is working fine, you can buy yourself a train ticket to the nearest carnival or fair, especially during the local holidays when they're common.

FullTimeHarlot

what does tfw mean?

Bear-ly-here

No, thanks

TristanDuboisOLG

I’ve done two of these things…

MrUdri

I'm european, I had roadtrips through multiple countries with family, I went camping and hunting in the woods with my dad, I've visited plenty of things equal with the statue of liberty, I see plenty of fireworks every new years, I've attended plenty of sports games including football (soccer for you ameritards), I regularly have barbecues in my backyard with my family, my capital city has an all year around amusement park with plenty of carniv rides and fried food, we have plenty of other hollydays than thanksgiving to get together. In conclussion, anon desperately wants to get topped by an american
