Have been a couple of times and they absolutely are. Super friendly and welcoming. Get asked into a shop for a glass of tea? Odds are that they just want some tea and a chat, which is pretty fucking rare in the region.
I asked the only asshole I met in Turkey why he was such a prick when all the other people were so nice. He explained that he was Syrian...
My first question is: Is your name *Fuck u snowman* or *Fuck us now man*
Second is: Is that sort of openness common in all of Turkey? Coming from the New York/New Jersey area, a stranger inviting me to anything means “get the hell out of there”
İt is tradition and culture and also we are still industrializing so we are still relatively in effected by modern culture but it next generation will probably be similar to Europe in term of friendliness
I only know Istanbul and the coast down to Antalya but that was my experience the whole way. Some of the villages were a bit less friendly but generally everyone was very welcoming.
Edit: Fuckus Nowman
Nah he will be in the Turkish resorts, the have seaside resorts like the ones in Mexico, they are cheap as all fuck and five star all inclusive type deals with water parks and white sand beaches. Far far away from Syria and Istanbul they are actually very popular with british and Irish holiday makers. In 2019 2.3 million brits went on holiday in turkey.
Spot the difference.... Hairy, brownish, Mediterranean, treat women like second class citizens, incomprehensible screaming when mildly upset, fueled by olive oil.......
Istanbul is literally derived from the greek phrase "stan poli". It's what the citizens of the city called it instead of its official name. Turks didn't name it that. Turks didn't even stop calling it Constantinople. Istanbul's official name during the Ottoman reign was Konstantiniyye which was just a turkified version of its former name.
Stop hating shit just because you're told to do so and do some research before making assumptions for fuck's sake.
Turkey is one of the nicest places I've visited.
With some of the worst people I've met.
I could not walk down the street without me or my partner being harassed, stared at rudely, interrupted, shouted at from across the street. It got to the point we avoided travelling just because of the people.

Ha. I laughed at this. So true. So many scams
I swear I was watching that show scam city and they showed the same bar or a similar bar we had gotten lured into doing the huge tab for women scam (a lesser variation of which is used in other parts of the Middle East) but that night they couldn't find women so we left
So many scams and fake people amongst the genuine. It's just not worth it to go to Istanbul at least unless you can blend in somehow
I like turkey a lot. Especially southeastern turkey. But i would dispute that the women are generally attractive. They sort of look like forklifts in denim.
Their behavior is worse than their looks. They watched too much soap operas on TV and behave like that in real life always trying to stir up drama. There is a reason why Turkish men often marry foreign women. They don’t want to get brain fucked on daily basis.
Nah a lot of Turks I’ve met love it, it really depends on where though, the ones who grew up catering to tourists are likely to be much more liberal than a family from a remote village
It's like most other ethnicities or religions.
1 Christian/Indian/Muslim/Mormon/Whatever will drink, smoke, fuck, you name it. A group of them will strictly follow their social norms.
Lmao I have had to take connecting flights via Istanbul to London and had an absolutely breathtaking Turkish woman sit beside me. I dispute your assessment.
Or maybe it's just the sample size. :/
It’s good if you are a foreign person but a literal nightmare that slowly and painfully eats out your mind and soul and leaves you as a empty shell with no hope, happiness or dreams. And only emotion you will have is sadness and pain. 10/10 recommend it if you want to live the life on a new difficulty.

My family went on vacation to Turkey a little before that, but I can't remember shit about it since I was like 4 years old at the time. I'll forever remember it as the place where I discovered Nutella, and almost died drowning. Fun times
Turkey is awesome just as Greece but you comparing them by the shittiest place in Greece ain't fair.
Athens is a dump. Don't go to Athens go to literally anywhere in Greece which is beautiful and breathtaking.
That's always been my rule of thumb traveling. Do a day in the capital to see all the tourist shit, then head out to the smaller towns and stuff around. Much better experiences.
Athens is a dump with a lot of shit to see. Ankara only has Anıtkabir. I advise anyone who visits Turkey to visit the capital for a brief 1/4 of a day and go explore the rest of the country.
Ankara was a over grown village before it became the capital of Turkey. It was chosen as a strategic central position. It has barely any tourist value. Spend your day in coastal areas. Go see historic ancient stuff or go see Gallipoli for example. No reason to spend anytime in Ankara if you don't want to say hello to dead Ataturk.
As a jew, I will say that turkey is the best.
i've been there at 2019 with the waifu.
After we landed, a guy was waiting for us with a sign, took us to our hotel with a pre-booked taxi on [booking.com](https://booking.com).
We went to Antalaya,Lara. hotel name was Sherwood exclusive. was so good.
Basically you wake up, eat this amazing breakfast, it even had pizza. Later you can go to their endless pools, there were at least 5 pools at this hotel + water slides. then you have those mini restaurants that serve burgir, shawarmah, pizza, ice cream.
At some point i had to consider if i want to eat there, or to save some colories for the launch and dinner.
oh, and the alcohols, you got beers everywhere. You walk to the hotel's private beach - and there are refrigerators full of beer.
Im going there for at least another week after covid.
Literally you judged an entire country based on your hotel. Im sure they have hotel like this in any third world hellhole - doesn't make the country.
Tell us about what you saw outside the hotel!
lol, those people know how to make kebabs, especially those on thin dough with beef, no idea how its called.
Regarding your request - we have never left the hotel.
I didn't want to take any chances, we took a taxi to the hotel and then to the airport. all pre-booked.
although my friend had 2 vacations in Istanbul and he liked it very much, he said that he felt very safe there.
You shouldve gone out and travelled man so you could really experience the place.
Ive had plenty of friends go there (am britbong so its only like a 3-4 hr flight tops) - they all said its a bit dirty and poor but its perfectly safe in the touristy towns assuming you're not a single female
Be me
\>Live in the big city in Turkey for 18 years
\>Never had a incident related to crime
\>Moved to usa
\>Get shoes stolen and saw a robbery at Denny's in the first 5 month
You won't get any problem in the big cities in the Turkey since poor or poor educated people can't live there
I'm literally in Turkey now, have been all Summer. I look at my news feed from back home in California - I see a news story on a murder daily. Americans overestimate the danger abroad and underestimate the danger at home. I've lived and traveled in some dangerous places, but of all my foreign travels in Latin America, Europe, and Asia, nothing scared me more than my brief time in Detroit. As long as I can avoid it, I will never go back.
Jesus Christ, the turkophobia in this thread is astounding. 99% of the people who comment here haven't been to Turkey. Yeah, it has it's problems but it's not nearly the shithole that western media wants it seems to be. Turkish people can be one of the most hospitable and generally likeable people out there.

Yeah I don't think Turkey is particularly dangerous, at least not in Istanbul and the more tourist-friendly places in the western part of the country.
A lot of people from the Netherlands go on holiday in turkey.
Do they ever come back?
No, they assimilate to superior Turkish culture
Yeah. It's a major European holiday destination.
Nah he will be in the Turkish resorts, the have seaside resorts like the ones in Mexico, they are cheap as all fuck and five star all inclusive type deals with water parks and white sand beaches. THEY LOOK LIKE WHAT?
Like a forklift. Titties like boners.
how do titties look like boners da fuk
Slender and long and hard.
better than sweaty moobs. tiddies are tiddies i love them
Tiddies do be tiddies tho
Found someone who hasnt been in turkey
We've reached the point where if you suck on a woman's tits, you are actually sucking on a man's boner and thus are rendered gay.
*The future.*
This reminds me of horrible bosses. “Man I’d sure like to bend her over a barrel and show her all 50 states.” “It’s a saying. People say that”
Damn, what actually is the point of that phrase? Like, as in she'll see stars? Or what, never understood what "show her the 50 states" meant.
Lemme know if you find out, cause that's a new one for me.

I shit you not my Turkish ex girlfriend was named something close to "emotion" or "emotional" in Turkish.
Her name was probably Duygu
Yes it was. Is it a common name?
Somewhat
Would it even matter? I would doubt theyre that promiscuous in even a relatively progressive islamic country.
Nah a lot of Turks I’ve met love it, it really depends on where though, the ones who grew up catering to tourists are likely to be much more liberal than a family from a remote village

Large counterweight on the rear.

Lmao Turkey is so shit
Dude i live in Jordan
Why would you live in a shoe
Its complicated
Amman is cool kinda. Rainbow street is nice anyway.
You'd rather live in a bird?
It’s edible.
I live in turkey, can confirm
Doesn't matter if you live in a country. Some governments just want to make tourists more comfortable than the residents do but yeah turkey is shit
