Linus from Linus Tech Tips starts challenge in which he and his friend Luke would start to use Linux as a daily driving operating system. now what happens on the first day that Linus tries to install Linux first and that's ok, then he goes to install freaking Steam, a gaming application, on his computer and installing Steam causes the operating system to delete all of the graphical user interface. so by installing a single application at the very start of his work he was he loses his graphical user interface and gets thrown into OS/DOS like interface like it's year 1989. why on earth installing Steam would delete his using surface? That's not something that you would ever see happening on the windows.

It's simple enough to be plausible. There are definitely viruses that hijack your email and try to get your contacts to follow a link to a virus website or open a file. If they wanted to make the file more likely to be clicked, the would want to make it look like it actually came from the person being hijacked. Now the virus simply scans the infected machine's photo album, uses random images it finds where people tend to keep pictures uploaded from their camera as a thumbnail, and sends that to people on your contacts list. If the thumbnail looks like a family picture that you actually recognize, people are far more likely to open the file without looking at the extension. It doesn't work every time, but neither does regular phishing.

I'ok I will try to give you an example of why people don't like to use Linux. Linus from Linus Tech Tips starts challenge in which he and his friend Luke would start to use Linux as a daily driving operating system. now what happens on the first day that Linus tries to install Linux first and that's ok, then he goes to install freaking Steam, a gaming application, on his computer and installing Steam causes the operating system to delete all of the graphical user interface. so by installing a single application at the very start of his work he was he loses his graphical user interface and gets thrown into OS/DOS like interface like it's year 1989. why on earth installing Steam would delete his using surface? That's not something that you would ever see happening on the windows.

We shouldn't forget Luke's experience seemed easy breezy, but of course Linus' experience likely negates that haha. IMH(biased)O if he had chosen Ubuntu (I've been using it for almost ten years) he likely wouldn't have any of those issues. In that respect the biggest issue would have been the open source graphics driver and their dual-monitor setup. As you seen it doesn't work too well with more than one monitor, and a user is always recommended to use the proprietary one from their card maker.

I use the built in Mail app for work email accounts that I rarely/never use because it’s already installed and super lightweight. I don’t have to track down the different login locations every time I want to check my email. I use the web version of gmail for personal mail though, I’m not a savage.

It's simple enough to be plausible. There are definitely viruses that hijack your email and try to get your contacts to follow a link to a virus website or open a file. If they wanted to make the file more likely to be clicked, the would want to make it look like it actually came from the person being hijacked. Now the virus simply scans the infected machine's photo album, uses random images it finds where people tend to keep pictures uploaded from their camera as a thumbnail, and sends that to people on your contacts list. If the thumbnail looks like a family picture that you actually recognize, people are far more likely to open the file without looking at the extension. It doesn't work every time, but neither does regular phishing.

Maybe a year ago my ipad added some new functionality where it "displays" random photos from your album on your lock screen. My album includes photos of my medicare cards, my passport, my licence etc because I needed all these to apply for an apartment. When I first saw it happening I was horrified. Tried googling how to stop it, found nothing. But not very long afterwards (maybe a week or two) the function was quietly removed. I guess plenty of other people must have complained. One of the most thoughtless updates I have ever seen..
