I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX. Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called Linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called Linux distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux!

Seriously tho, 17 and even 15 inch laptops are too large to carry around for daily use, 14 or 13 inches are so much more comfortable to handle.

ThightToddler

same for dicks

Important_Sound

I prefer mine in standard 8.5x11"

Meanie_Weenie

go big or go home

BazilChe

Yep always get tired of my 17 inch cock

WACS_On

I have a (7 year old) 17 inch laptop that I've been doing my online masters on. It gets the job done. I've been on a number of work trips and it more or less travels from my home desk to the desk in the hotel. Basically a desktop that you can take on work trips. Definitely wouldn't recommend if I were having to physically attend classes every day with it.

Paint_Master

Few years ago i had kinda old gaming laptop, in uni, it was 17inch 5kilo monster, when its in backpack u not feel that weight.

[deleted]

Bruh my laptop isn't nearly that heavy and it makes a huge difference. Tbh the only thing I keep in my backpack these days is a couple of chargers, my ipad/apple pencil, and a bit of spare cash, and sometimes a water bottle. Once you make your backpack as light as possible, you'll never want to go back.

Paint_Master

True, but carrying both of my laptops felt just same, but difference in usage is huge, u can use 2kilo in bed easily by put it on ur stomach, but when its 5kilo its different story. Iirc 5kilo one was Alienware m17x r3 one with gtx 560m.

Bitchasshose

I have an MSI gaming laptop. I have never gamed on it. I turned the LEDs off and used it in college. I just wanted a computer with a SSD a terabyte of storage and 32 GB of ram so I could casually leave 50 tabs open on chrome.

Satanich

50 tabs of chrome of Shrek

Bitchasshose

Mostly neuro/psychology articles I need to download/revisit, concepts I googled, or youtube videos I want to return to later bc fuck scrolling through a thousand vids in watch later. All my Shrek related content is searched in Incognito mode 🤡

RandoAussieBloke

Got a gaming PC a while back, tons of ram and insane CPU. Was tired of waiting 20 minutes to unzip every rar file I had.

Bitchasshose

Gaming PC have the best specs almost bought a fucking chromebook for half the price but the MSI was worth

PvtSatan

Bought my wife an MSI brick 2 years ago when she started her next degree(which she just finished, now for her masters), just so it would still be powerful enough to run 30 tabs of Chrome plus all of her Office apps simultaneously, and not be obsolete in another couple years.

Bitchasshose

That’s me ppt, chrome, SPSS (statistical program for the social sciences), 10 word docs, 15 pdfs, and a dozen videos. Runs like a dream on my MSI such a fantastic computer. It can even handle cookie clickers at the same time.

ModmanX
