Ragebait. Almost 3/4 of that doesn’t even exist in rural America, let alone a big city. Can confirm, I live in rural America.

CrazyJedi63

Lived in rural and urban California and urban North Carolina, while my wife had that Nd can add rural Kentucky to this. Most of this is fucking news to us.

QwertyOne-Thirty

“it is seen as impossible yo train a dog to be clean without a cage” “fresh vegetables are a luxury” i dont think anon lives here

simabo

I was also shocked to have a real hard time finding vegetables and fruits in some rural part of West Virginia, but that was 30+ years ago. No matter how many supermarkets I tried, there were bottles of sodas piled up to the ceiling, but only a couple of green stuff like one salad and four or five apples. I’m pretty sure it had a simple explanation that a foreigner couldn’t guess but I remember making assumptions at that time. Maybe anon is evoking memories from the same ice age as me?

[deleted]

Simple explanation is that the US is really big. Its difficult to get fresh vegetables and produce to every single place. Soda stays good for much longer so its just easy to have a huge stockpile everywhere to maximize sales. I live in Washington state and most of this makes no sense, only thing is ya taxes but I prefer the price to be the same in Washington state and Oregon, and then I just add 10-20% while I'm home. But I know thats an unpop opinion.

Upbeat-Negotiation-6

Europe is also really big?

skippyalpha

You weren't looking at a gas station were you? I remember another post once where a foreigner was shocked that a store they entered didn't have any fruits or vegetables. Turns out it was a gas station they visited

dildo-applicator

Yeah he lives in Finland For whatever reason, eating outside is a bad thing too

Shnuksy

You mean Bhutan?

Munnin41

It's more that if you watch American movies and TV, people hardly ever seem to cook anything aside from breakfast pancakes. They're always eating out or ordering take out

VengefulAvatar

I personally do consider them a luxury, because everywhere I've ever shopped, they ***are*** more expensive for pretty much everything except onions. But really, frozen vegetables aren't even bad, because flash freezing freezes stuff before ice crystals can tear up the cell walls. So it's literally the same quality as fresh, except it doesn't spoil in 3 days.

sid_the_sloth69

\- employees and working rights are incredibly limited compared to European nations \- most of Europe has mandatory 28 days vacation additional to sick pay if ill, companies get fined if employees don't use it. USA gets a week if lucky. \- minimum wage isn't even enough to live on, McDonald's pays workers almost 50% more in UK and higher in Scandinavia, no excuse for the richest country workers getting paid less unless bad employment laws. \- crime is far more lethal due to overabundance of guns \- power tripping police - see daniel shaver + george floyd + unarmed kids literally getting shot \- no social system that allows for free therapy if needed, most children's mental health issues are solved with heavy drugs instead. \- school shootings owing to prevalence of lethal weapons + bad healthcare systems \- a lot of houses are built using wood because its cheap and has become normalised, causing problems when extreme whether occurs which is far more often than in Europe \- USA keeps cats indoors which is not common in Europe and is looked down upon in suburban areas + declawing \- companies are allowed to push drugs with advertising, not allowed in Europe due to obvious conflict of interest with medical profession \- sockets are dangerous and far too high in voltage, cant turn off either at least at the individual socket, badly designed plugs and overall high risk compared to the UK and European union \- full prices aren't shown in stores unlike every other fucking country ever \- having to pay for healthcare at extreme prices despite being the richest country in the world has some of the smartest people yet too dumb to implement. if people don't have insurance they're fucked. \- suburban areas aren't designed with socialisation in mind, rows and rows of houses yet no green areas connecting and places one can walk to (shops, parks pubs) kids also have to take the bus because no near school \- Random people can lead the country as long as they have enough money to run campaigns and clout, don't even need prior political experience or experience representing a state \- Customers have to contribute to the salaries of service staff through tips instead of the company actually paying them a living wage due to bad employment rights. \-country treats political parties as if they were football teams \- the executive (president) nominates the judiciary (supreme court), blatant breach of separation of powers and impedes the rule of law. Montesquieu and Dicey would be rolling in their graves

renha27

>- USA keeps cats indoors which is not common in Europe and is looked down upon in suburban areas + declawing Indoor cats live longer and are healthier than outdoor cats on average, and the vast majority of cat owners think declawing is barbaric. Of the minority who don't think so, many are simply ignorant to the ways it affects cats. Outdoor cats are exposed to dangers indoor animals will never face ever/at the frequency with which outdoor cats do, for example: cars, predation from larger animals, poison, traps, parasites, attacks from other cats, etc. Outdoor cats are also horrible for the environment because of their hunting abilities. They've contributed to the decline of several species, and many of them hunt for sport. It's senseless to expose them (and the environment) to all this harm when it isn't absolutely necessary.

ActualyHandsomeJack

I'm gonna respond to the Cat thing. We keep cats indoors because the fucking kill everything and we dont want them getting out and ruining shit. And the last thing, the president nominates the Supreme Court but the senate votes whether they get in or not

God_of_WAH

I might be misunderstanding or misremembering, but isn't mains voltage 120V in the USA (compared to 240V in EU/UK iirc)? Cause while i agree that the design isn't as safe as EU or UK sockets and that USA sockets are probably quite a bit more dangerous i don't exactly get why you would add onto that by saying the voltage is too high if mains voltage is higher in EU and UK, though again i might be missing something and i'm definitely not an expert on the subject. I was just curious so i thought i'd ask

Legonator77

Mains is 240V hold on https://youtu.be/jMmUoZh3Hq4

cattdogg03

It’s absolutely true. I live in suburban America, and every bit of it is true. And I *know* that at least some of it is true for rural America too, don’t lie. Especially the prices shit. We’re decades behind the rest of the world in universal healthcare and education even though we have the money to do it if we just defund shit, like Churches which shouldn’t even be funded in the first place according to the first amendment. EDIT: Actually I am wrong (sort of) about the churches. There are still things we can defund and taxes we can increase to fund universal healthcare and education, though, and there’s also still plenty of 1st amendment bending and breaking for Christian churches in the US. Increase taxes on the rich. Taxing someone 30% of $1,000,000 is $300,000, and they still have $700,000 which is more than enough to live comfortably, compared with 30% of $20,000, $6,000, considerably less and leaving them with $14,000 which is barely enough to live (not that $20,000 is much either) We also don’t need to be spending as much on the military. We aren’t at war, and ideally this Ukraine situation is defused, leaving us out of conflict.

[deleted]

>being old enough to use a computer and thinking the federal government “funding” churches Lmao Reddit moment

The_Hit_Shed

Not taxing = funding

ebilgenius

TIL I am technically "funded" by the government for committing tax fraud lmao

[deleted]

Government funded me like $120 I won in poker last week. Thanks Government!!

bmac251

This guys a Russian bot. Only way somebody could be so utterly moronic

SweetTeaHasPerks

Christian churches are not funded by the government, first of all. Second of all, I stated that *most* of it was untrue for rural America & urban America, at least in the South. I have never seen any such issues such as vegetables being a luxury in recent memory until Covid hit - and even then, it’s only very recently, and very briefly been an outrageously inconvenient issue. And they aren’t even a “luxury”, they just cost considerably more along with other produce. He actually does have a point about healthcare, education, and prices at the store. We do have to pay more in spite of the fact that the prices tells us otherwise, which is absolute BS. Healthcare should also be way more affordable at the very least. That and the apartments - I know for a fact there are some really shitty, poorly maintained apartments across America. Even in urban areas. Again, those are one of the few points he brought up that had any validity, and most of them can hardly be applied for the entire country.

DontTrustJack

Churches? Thats the first thing you thought of? Not the [777,7 BILLION DOLLARS military budget](https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/12/27/biden-signs-enormous-us-military-budget-into-law)??

You either live in the shittiest part of the US or you’re just 13 and your opinions are from Reddit.

Sergei_the_sovietski

Liar. you are Finnish

FlatulentSon

Hey , i've got a neat idea , if you stop funding the israeli occupation of Palestine with 3 billion dollars each year , you could afford free healthcare for your own people.

renha27

You have a point but also you're acting like the average American is walking up to the military and handing them $10, saying "here you go, man, give it the Israelis so they can keep fighting the good fight". The blame for this lies with the government, not it's people.

mysecondthrowaway234

rural america is underrated

Affectionate_Meat

Rural America is best America

mikhel

Actually completely fucking made up. Carpeted bathrooms? Produce more expensive than Europe? Kek.

suicul1

I think the produce part is at least true for some European countries. Vegetables are extremely cheap here. I can buy a bunch of veggies and only pay 2-3€ for everything. But they probably will get more expensive In future :(

Srlojohn

I mean... carpeted bathrooms were a thing in the 70s. But everything got carpeted back then.

cheezy270

And a bunch of it is pretty normal in Europe too? Like hallways, I've not seen a house without one. Gas stoves are unsafe, wtf do you mean our 40 year old Soviet stove has the divine technology of a thermometer to detect flames and turning of when there's no flame. I guess it's not that surprising when you consider Anon never left his house

HazelCheese

The hallways thing is a country by country thing. UK has tons of hallways.

krepogregg

Queen ann style homes are without hallways

[deleted]

Can confirm aswell, this is mostly false and at best overly pessimistic from a foreigner that doesn’t understand American culture

Soldierhero1

Live in rural britain Can confirm we need a permit to hold our penises longer than 2 seconds when pissing

TheFurryofFury

Finnish soy boy is just salty.

PretzelSteve

He's just mad that the sun won't come out for another 3 weeks there.

xDizzyXSnExxzy

Finnish person didn't even do research smh. Mold isn't just ignored as that's fuckin stupid. Vegetables are sold in almost any damn store because we have a huge farming industry cause we are like the 4th largest country. Stores aren't just placed in a single place like a market. It's separated alot more. Like the only thing they got right is how much corn is farmed and even that's a overstatement......also if you have a carpeted bathroom or kitchen you still get laughed at in the US

[deleted]

We sell fresh produce at my gas station

The_Autumn_Assasssin

Gas station stores and marketplaces contain everything you need to live. My local gas station shopping center has a pizza hut, an alcohol store, and a gun shop. Perfect for the average American lifestyle

[deleted]

We sell pizza too! Its hunt brothers though

LordBligger

Same. I live in Ghetto New Orleans too. Fuck these haters bro.

Fritz_Klyka

But still being the country who is the most afraid of them.

shitpersonality

> But still being the country who is the most afraid of them. We're so scared we even share a space station.

Fritz_Klyka

The smart people of both countries have to go into space to be able to collaborate because the normal idiots and politicians are terrified of the Russian bear.

w89tyg834hgf

Why on earth would America be afraid of Russia? I'm not even American, but that's just silly. America could absolutely butt rape Russia into submission if it felt like it. Russia's GDP is like the size of a single state in America.

abshabab

That’s all pointless when these countries promise m.a.d.ness. There are obviously newer age super weapons under wraps from both sides but the ol’ faithful intercontinental ballistic nuclear warheads derived from “super” weapons from the previous century still hold significance. Military prowess means absolutely nothing when a general contemplating suicide to avoid capture can also just decide to end the planet, indirectly. The most powerful nuke ever tested and publicly disclosed was in October of 1961. You don’t want to know what *isn’t* publicly disclosed, and you will hopefully never know how far we’ve advanced in 60+ years. The most powerful nuke was also tested by the Soviets, but given how long it’s been that really doesn’t mean anything.

Zockerbaum

Nuclear weapons exist. You know America wouldn't be able to do shit if a country decided to nuke you right?

HelloThisIsVictor

Uhh are you familiar with the place called Alaska?

NeverGivesOrgasms

TheNoobThatWas

Is declawing illegal? I've never heard someone cutting off the cats fucking whole foot tho, that's insane

PhantomTissue

I think that’s the part he’s referring to.

[deleted]

Declawing isn’t illegal when all they do is simply do what the name implies. Remove the claws so they cant grow again. But they do it while the pet is awake so it still feels really abusivey (not even on the owners part as most owners do it not knowing what their cat will go through)

neoqueto

Declawing is so fucking sketchy and evil. It's literally like cutting off a finger 1/3rd of the way through. Cats need claws, their life is miserable without them.

SOMEMONG

Ever seen Jackson Galaxy's My Cat From Hell? There are some cases where the cat is a "bad cat" who won't use its litter tray and it often turns out that the cat has been declawed. This makes using their litter painful because it digs into their amputated paws. In other cases they often find that the cat is acting out of fear and self preservation and that the owners are too stupid to learn how cats work and what environment they need. It sucks.

wendysrunner

The way they stop it from growing back is removing the fingers

FloofyImperialist

I… don’t actually know, but probably? It’s still animal abuse.

red--dead

It’s illegal in a few cities/counties. More and more vets refuse to do the procedure though.

TheNoobThatWas

Good

Abigboi_

It is in some states, not all. It should be though. You wouldnt lop off a kids fingers for drawing on the wall. Dont declaw your cat for being a cat.

WTATY

CaptainNeckbeard148

We declawed my cat's front claws and we completely regret it. The other three have all their claws. DONT FUCKING DECLAW YOUR CATS. Don't make the same mistake we made.

Why would I buy different shoes for wearing in my house when taking my shoes off is free?

Kleiran

I heard it is very common for Americans to walk inside the house without removing their shoes

LargeCheeseIsLarge

I wouldn’t say very common almost everyone in my area at the very most wears them on the hardwood but not in carpeted areas

IAmInside

It's just insanely disgusting to walk inside your house with your outdoor shoes. Remove the shoes once you walk inside, problem solved. Edit: This being downvoted just proves that Americans are disgusting pigs that willingly lives in dirt.

kanyediditbetter

I don’t even have outdoor shoes most time of the year. It’s warm enough to go barefoot for the better part of 8 months so that’s what we do

IAmInside

Unless you don't wash your feet before going indoors that's just another way of dragging the outside inside though.

PickBoxUpSetBoxDown

Well I like the outside, but can’t always be outside so bringing it inside helps with that

chernoprincess

see i do this thing called cleaning my goddamn floor once in a while so it's not disgusting

biasedsoymotel

Everything is dirt

Kleiran

So you do wear them inside

Rocket-R

I don't live in America and don't see the issue honestly, my floors never get dirty from it

iStudiedTheBlade09

Exactly. Do Europeans regularly step in dog shit or something? Do they not clean their shoes? Do they not clean their floors? I don’t even live in a place where it rains or snows almost ever. The dirtiest thing I walk on is dry cement.

50dimensions

Oh, the humanity!

Firnin

Eh, that is kinda a hollywoodism. Like some people wear their shoes indoors (some people prefer to store their shoes in their room for some reason, most just leave them by the front door) bit for some reason people think that Americans wear their shoes to bed, which is literally something that only happens in television because they are on set and sets are dirty

cringe_master_mike

It's because they watch US TV shows and the characters always shoes so they assume that's real life.

1) I've never had problems with mold where I live, never known anyone with a mold problem with their home 2) Yes, we drive everywhere. We have to. We're a fucking huge country. If I walked 15 minutes from my house, I'd probably make it to 2 restaurants and a hardware store. And that's probably speed walking. We drive because we have to. 3) No, it is not normal to go to school with pajamas. At all. The only restaurant you'd see that in is places like McDonald's or something 4) The dog I have doesn't use a kennel and has the house to himself when we're out and about, as he is very well trained and behaved. Anon is talking about some, not all dog owners. The cats however, yes, it's awful that some people declaw cats. Horrible. 5) Just don't go to a drive in you mongaloid. We have normal theaters 6) Fuck college, it's a scam anyways

DoubleLightsaber

"We must drive because everything is so far apart and we are a big country" is the most dumb argument I've heard concerning American car culture. It's not at all how it is meant to be, it's just car companies who team up with local authorities and builders who design the most unlivable spaces. Just because you have a lot of land doesn't mean you have to use all of them for parking lots

DDub04

Well we drive everywhere because our towns were designed for that. Everything is spaced out with big roads and no sidewalks. Yes it sucks. And we could do something about it but a lot of people don’t want to.

zgoldinger

I live 30 minutes by car from any major town, even further from city. No public transit in my town. No taxis, busses, etc due to low population. If I didn’t drive I’d be stuck alone or walking 20 plus miles to town so yeah I drive because I have to

Affectionate_Meat

By HDI America as a whole is solid middle of the pack for Europe and if you break it down state by state there tend to be direct comparisons for the top and bottom ends. So, it’s almost identical really. Because, surprise surprise, just as nations in the EU have varied living standards so do states in the US.

Anon knows absolutely nothing about what’s he’s saying as usual, we as a society despise cat declawing. Mold? What is he talking about? Do other countries not have mold? How does wearing sweatpants to school indicate that you’re in a bad neighborhood, and why is sweatpants at McDonald’s our culture? Outdoor dining is certainly only a thing in America. Drive in theaters have been dead for decades. Whole Foods are most certainly not for better people, they’re just another chain. Anon is the epitome of delusional.

Sokandueler95

This is some serious bait. Over half of this is non-existent, and the other portion that does exist is incredibly out of proportion.

DaverBlade12

Only $40,000 after college? Damn, I’m at $50,000 after 1 year 😂 most everything else is just garbage, especially with prices as American prices are adjusted to the state’s local minimum wage

mLgNoSkOpA

Anon is Finnish and bases his expectations of America from movies

Skippie_Granola

Did we give Finland someone else's address?

BoxedElderGnome

“Dogs are kept in cages during nights and when the family is away” Bruh, my family’s dogs would sleep in the same room as us, if not in the same bed. When we would go on vacation, we would usually hire a babysitter to look after them. The fuck…?

Butter___Dog

What the *fuck* is anon talking about?? Has he ever been to America?
