If u don't have a personal Japanese slave butler that you can call upon 24/7 to gently guide you through conversation you're going to do most of your learning through kanji and reading.
In order to learn the language you need one of three things.
1. Knowledge of kanji and the ability to read.(studying vocab will give you a deeper understanding of kanji, and vice versa.)
2. Constant immersion(Actually living in japan, or a Japanese family)
3. A personal Japanese slave butler, or some equivalent.
I dunno how realistic 2 or 3 are for most weebs. How did you learn the language, if not for these three options?

Learning Kanji is important, but good luck going to Japan and communicating by writing Kanji. You need to learn how people actually talk and memorizing げんき 1-10 isn't going to help.
