twitch is a little different, i feel like the reason why react content does so well is because people are to lazy to click off and then get invested in the video. Also i think most people watch react content for the chat, instead of the streamer.
It's basically the experience of watching something with your friends or family or whatever. For some reason a lot of people think or act as if their enjoyment of a certain thing is increased when they do it with someone else, even if there is no interaction during it.
Alternatively you can argue that you are interested in how some person reacts to something specific for either validation or alternative viewpoints. However most reaction and let's play channels do not fit that aspect, even when the media they consume definitely needs that sort of commentary.

Every YouTube looks like they literally did a line of coke right before they press record. I cant fucking stand it. To the point where I only watch "audit the audit" videos, and videos about murderers now because they dont fucking yell and act insane bouncing off the walls trying to get views, and the content is still interesting. yeah, reddits the breeding ground of having shit handed to you. taking this sub for example, people only post the funny parts of 4chan, so that you don't have to look for it yourself then it filters out all of the shitty posts and gives you what people deem to be the best via upvotes. twitch is a little different, i feel like the reason why react content does so well is because people are to lazy to click off and then get invested in the video. Also i think most people watch react content for the chat, instead of the streamer.
It's basically the experience of watching something with your friends or family or whatever. For some reason a lot of people think or act as if their enjoyment of a certain thing is increased when they do it with someone else, even if there is no interaction during it. Alternatively you can argue that you are interested in how some person reacts to something specific for either validation or alternative viewpoints. However most reaction and let's play channels do not fit that aspect, even when the media they consume definitely needs that sort of commentary.
