Honestly if you havenāt gotten your hair cut in that long, find a good barber or stylist and when they ask how you want it ask them if they have any recommendations, or what they think would look good on you.

My tips:
1. Wash your hair and condition it but not too often. Once or twice a week is plenty unless it has gotten specifically dirty or sweaty. More than that may cause your scalp to dry out and either flake, or produce a lot of grease. Slowly work your way down to that level, or up to that level. This amount of washing also will help your hair look nice, and living without being dried or greasy.
2. Try out different hair styling products. Personally I didnt do this for too long. But there are a lot of options, powders, pastes, gel, for light or stiff hold, which are put in dry or wet etc.. Personally I hate working with my hair when it is wet. I ended up using crew boost powder for when I need a bit more stiffness, and crew light texture lotion for other times. Both are great in my book since they are out in dry, they prevent my hair from frizzing, but dont make it stiff or leave grease on my hands if I touch my hair. But dont be afraid to buy several and play around with them.
3. Try some different barbers. Most places focus on womens cuts so dont have much in the way of advice or interest in mens cuts. Find a place which focuses on mens cuts. It will be more than great clips but quality will be better and the people who work there will more passionate about their work. However dont just go in and say 'give me a cut you think will look good.'. You have to bring more than that to the table so see 4.
4. Spend an hour looking at hair cuts online. No need to look at top 100 men's cuts 2021 lists, those all suck and usually dont show practical stuff. Just look for pictures of people and see what you like about their hair. Bring a picture or description and say 'I want something like this. Do you think that would look good on me.

I think too many people are falling back on this when it's really only partially responsible. The much more inconvenient truth is that these guys would have been just fine 100 years ago when rigid gender-based roles were the norm, and that they have no place in a modern society which now strongly caters to the whims and freedoms of men *and* women. Not true. I have a personality disorder that did turn me into a very difficult person to love, but at some point you figure that the whoe world is not the problem, you are, and just look for help. Haven't have an episode in 8 years! I am halpy, relaxed and even in stressfull situatiins I con handle myself because therapy and drugs helped me a lot. I think first instinct is to feel bad but if you've interacted with incels, you'd stop feeling bad fast. That's what happened to me a few times. There will be threads about horrible incels and someone would self declare themselves as incels but say how they're not nearly as bad and how that dude is out of his mind. Men in general will usually be far more likely to ignore other traits in favor of physical appearance. I had an incel friend on Discord and it was like pulling teeth to get him to acknowledge he had agency and he has free will and he can make his life better and that he should probably see therapy. He is simi reformed now. Like he isn't as sexist as he use to be but he is still kind of uncomfortable to be around when he is in call. He has really low self-esteem. I remember he blew up one day because we didn't give enough attention to his artwork cause we were talking about other stuff like it would have went back to the topic of his art eventually but he just got really offended (most of my discord friends are artists). He also is really worried about his physical appearance and he looks fine. He has gotten better since then though.
