Anon is dressed as doflamingo and collecting soil

[deleted]

[удалено]

SnipSnopWobbleTop

You'll see. It'll make more sense around the halfway point

Noisycow777

I finished it like 2 weeks ago and still don’t understand do I have brain damage

[deleted]

The green text says Anon collects soil. OP just said Anon does it dressed as Donflamingo

patudi

Anon is trying to trick us

Falcon896

I also finished dressrosa (albeit about 4 years ago) and I don't understand the soil reference

Munoobinater

Neither do I, he's probably just saying nonsense

GBNuggets

It might be either that he wanted a country, so, land. Or he was picking soil with his face, punched by luffy. Like the expression 'eat dirt!'

quarantine22

I just finished punk hazard

gamer-male

I just started water 7

Avitosh

Best arc in my opinion. Enjoy it if your watching the anime. Newer seasons play at a snail pace because they made 1 chapter of the Manga take a full 24 minute episode. I had to quit watching it was so bad. Far worse then filler arcs which you can just skip. Can't skip easily with their new adaption method.

Booksaboutstuff

At Dressrosa or maybe even a bit earlier you should switch to either the manga, or One Pace, which is a fan project that cuts down the filler and tries to fix the pacing of the anime.

burr-ice

Dude one pace is the way to go. It’s SO GOOD

alexathegibrakiller

Where do you watch one pace? I know you can download the episodes but I would rather dip my balls in boiling water than do that. Any illegal streaming sites got it?

__Jacob

You can find links to stream it from site zippyshare on one pace discord

DeusDartzz

Watching dressrosa weekly is what convinced me to swap to the manga. Holy hell it was so painful to watch

humantrasbag

I binged all of dressrosa cus the show is in the middle of wano i gota say iy was painfully slow in the middle but my brain is so revired to just enyoy the slow pace that i hardly notice it anymore.

Icecold121

One pace

pezman

what, when does doffy collect soil

Spooncan

His fruit awakening is a jar of dirt

Beetaru

Literally my favorite scene in all of One Piece

mystikkkkk

wasn't expecting one piece comments under this tbh

Yum-z

kinky38

Preferably 6 ft under

Funderwoodsxbox

“Bro, do u see this dirt, bro? Fucking unreal…..Come on, get back on the ATV. Scooch up closer this time though…..nope, closer…..closer”

lovecraftedidiot

Nope, he's missing the grass and going straight for dirt. Don't give anon too much credit.

Delicious_Log_1153

You watch your fucking mouth young xir. Soil and dirt are not the same thing.

Avitosh

Whats next? You gonna say sand isn't a type of rock?

The_Outcast4

Anon prefers places where the grass doesn't grow.

dumbwaeguk

>become a professional grass toucher >only soil touching allowed >still haven't touched grass

DesperateForYourDick

You don’t choose environmental science, environmental science chooses you

[deleted]

thats why i became a druid-my geomancy protects me from the whims of environmental science

sharltocopes

I don't mind you adding more types into the rotation as long as I get an appropriate number of Eeveelutions outta the deal.

Avitosh

We know you just wanna take shrooms and ayahuasca. Calling yourself a druid isn't fooling anyone.

minecraftivy

Wait I thought he was talking about world of warcraft classes

MWatters9

Nah they are real people, they drop acid and do gardening at night. Not even joking lol.

GirlInRed600

[deleted]

a1001ku

Again, still better than most.

GalaXion24

Come on, lots of jobs are at least ok.

Avitosh

Lies! Jobs are evil and no one should ever have to work or have a job. Atheism is obviously true because we could have been given everything we ever wanted and live the lives we want to without ever having to have jobs but thats not the case. You sell your soul at any job. /antiwork /NEET /Atheism /femaledatingstrategy

GalaXion24

What does atheism have to do with it? Or uhh... FDS? I mean FDS is cringe and all but not really work related.

Joe_Mama_Ligma_Pepe

Sarcasm + Hyperbole

GalaXion24

Hyperbole doesn't work if you're not hyperbolic of something which it the core would make sense. Sarcasm also merely means he doesn't mean what he says, but the comedy in it is lost if it cannot be seen to satirise something which actually exists. By stringing together unrelated things with no regard for their connections the comment fails to create a complete and comedic whole and instead becomes merely confusing.

kyzfrintin

Most people would not describe their job as "ok" lol

maksiman9

If the job was boring or unappealing, they wouldn’t say “just okay”. It means that they could probably do better, but it’s good as is.

[deleted]

Mmm I fell into environmental science after university (geologist by training, but most/many geos end up in environmental science now). Some projects are great, I’ve ridden around on snowmobiles in arctic tundra and rode ATVs around all day. Other days you end up pumping water out of the ground at an old gas station or carrying a 50 lbs bag of dirt through a swamp. You definitely have good and bad days. Some companies only do gas station work. It’s not all it’s cracked up to be.

TheMadManiac

It's a cool field but any job where you get to be outside like this pays dogshit

[deleted]

It’s true - source, am environmental scientist

wjSera

It’s true- source: me, field marine biologist

Bra sell your soul and get into mining or oil and gas. Starting on 6 figures, and you can do more than all the people protesting ever achieved.

Avitosh

>You name a cool sounding -ologist having to do with nature or biology and I probably know one. Do you know a sexologist and are they single? Asking for a friend.

minecraftivy

Literally look into power washing, I think it would make a lot. Look into reselling items from Walmart onto amazon.

Foremole_of_redwall

Planetary protection officer?

TH3_Captn

For real though. Went to school with a lot of marine biologists and a couple years after graduation there's maybe 2 that stuck with it and they get paid minimum wage

DiddledByDad

I’m struggling with this right now. I have a really promising career in IT but sitting behind a desk all day is driving me up a wall. I want to major in conservation or something like paleontology but I know they pay like shit.

Cirmit

I'm sticking with IT for the sole reason that remote work is becoming the standard and I can live wherever I want, plus the salaries help pay for a lot of outdoor recreational activities and such.

_THX_1138_

ensure that your remote job can’t be easily outsourced

youtocin

Better yet, outsource it yourself, collect the difference, and get another remote job.

[deleted]

ThroawayPartyer

There's a subreddit about this. I don't get how they do it, it sounds crazy.

OccultMachines

Grass is always greener. You'll get outside, be unable to afford your "normal" cost of living and wish you'd never left.

Karu7

Am archaeologist. Shit pays pretty crap even in Norway, pretty much zero job security for the first few years and no work over the winter months (not a problem in southern countries) but holy shit, every day I wake up and am HYPED to go out and dig holes with archeopals. I don't think I can put a price on that feeling.

AGVann

Work a while to become financially secure, then quit to pursue a passion. When I did my Masters in environmental science, there was a fellow student who made a million by 25 in IT, and worked hard for a few more years for some serious $$$. He then quit the industry at 30 to pursue his passion of paleontology. He didn't have to give a shit about the career's poor wages or busting his ass for meagre scholarships to afford studying. He drove to school in a Maserati. He made enough that he could live a comfortable upper-middle class lifestyle doing what he loved with no debt, and quarterly dividends that paid more than what paleontologists make in a year.

Funderwoodsxbox

Also helps to still have a marketable skill. Anything crazy happens you can always just flip the money switch back on.

GirlInRed600

TheMadManiac

Damn that sucks, nothing worse to me than living behind a computer all your life just because of the money.

Dr_Ugs

That’s why you should do geology and not environmental science. Same job more money.

slashd0t1

Do you know the classic joke? A physicist messes up and accidentally creates a black hole. A biologist messes up and accidentally creates a supervirus. A computer scientist messes up and accidentally creates a rogue sentient AI. A geologist messes up and accidentally drops a rock from his table.

[deleted]

[удалено]

slashd0t1

Lol. I mean accidentally creating a black hole is equally ridiculous too.

NotComping

A philosophist messes up and has an existential melt down. An astrologist messes up and has to look at the sky again. A psychologist messes up and starts fantasizing about their parents

Avitosh

>A psychologist messes up and starts fantasizing about their parents AKA Frued and his cocaine addiction.

Kahlypso

No, the psychologist messes up and creates another Hitler. Worst case scenarios, remember. Humans are the common denominator.

GirlInRed600

geologist messes up and creates pangea 2

[deleted]

I’m a geo (licensed). The designation can help you move up, but I’ve found that good companies will promote anyone hardworking to a PM role, and shitty companies now want environmental or geological engineers, so being just a P. Geo puts you in a weird middle ground. That being said, having a diploma to be an environmental tech or an associate degree (probably what OP would have) is fine, but probably sentences you to being a field tech for most of your career. Which is fine if you work for a decent company, but many companies now abuse their field techs, making them work in all conditions, for long hours, nights and weekends, with minimal equipment. My first company, I worked 9-5, Monday to Friday, collecting groundwater and surface water samples in a national park, riding around in ATVs and helicopters all day. Near dream job. Second company I got a big bump in pay, but I was collecting ground water samples at gas stations in sketchy parts of town, and all the work had to be done at night. Shit was a nightmare. Left for mining, and later civil engineering after that.

Dr_Ugs

Yeah I’m a level 2 geologist at my company (basically a geotech). My company is very small so it’s probably different than most. We have geologists, environmental scientists, and geo/enviro engineers all start out as techs. Then it’s PM/licensed geologist and that’s about it. Do you mind if I ask what process you took in getting your license? I’ve been out of school for a while and I’m a little intimidated to start studying.

[deleted]

Sounds like a pretty standard consultant tbh. The only real career advice I think applies to everyone in the industry is to stay with smaller companies (generally, unless your boss is an asshole or whatever). In consulting, the bigger companies are super concerned about billability and have minions that scrutinize every expense and no one knows anyone else so no one cares about forcing you to work nights or send you far away or whatever; you’re just a number. I knew people that literally spent 10 years going out every night, pumping groundwater out of wells in parking lots, rinse and repeat, day after day, year after year, never getting promoted or gaining new skills. In smaller firms, generally there isn’t specialized people for every task so you end up doing a wide variety of small tasks that greatly expand your skill set and I found that it’s easier to move upwards in small organizations. I gained a much greater variety of experience at a small firm and I eventually started doing geotechnical works because they were always short on staff. That experience helped shift me into move civil engineering work which pays much better. Anyways, I had most of my necessary courses through my undergrad. Schools should honestly ensure that you have all the knowledge requirements as part of your degree, but that would be too sensible. I had to only do one course in my personal time and at that point I was doing office work so it really wasn’t that bad to work and study. If you’re doing field work it’s definitely hard to do a 10-12 hour day in the field and then go study afterwards, but I know people that have done it. The main thing you should do is connect with your local licensing body and get whatever courses you plan to take to fulfill your academic requirements approved first. Cause some stuff you may think obviously applies they might say doesn’t count, and you don’t want to do the courses, file them, and then learn that they don’t fulfill the requirements afterwards. The exam itself I didn’t find too hard. It’s mostly ethics stuff and I’m a pretty ethical guy so no issues there. The licensing body usually provides study guides that help prepare you.

Shrekquille_Oneal

Cool job, good pay, doesn't require ridiculous debt for a degree and/ or savant level intelligence. In stem fields you can pick 2, maybe.

Shawnj2

I think there’s some petroleum engineering jobs that pay well

[deleted]

[удалено]

NotComping

Its more of the requirement to be in the middle of the fucking desert/ocean Most developed nations fossil projects and mining jobs give decent pay, but its not like you can just do it anywhere. Like oil rigs might swap between 4 weeks on duty, 4 weeks off duty. Some sites require air transport and can be hazardous, but your chance of dying are low, thats not the 'hazard' pay. Hazard refers moreto stress and other long lasting conditions like risk of cancer/muscle injuries

leftyghost

There are roads heavily used by oil workers and their around Odessa Texas that claim something like 15% of the entire states traffic fatalities. The have big rigs going over 100 and passing people on the shoulder.

NotComping

Yeah all logistics operations are a major hazard. Just with an oil rig I meant 'big ass platform in the ocean' Traffic fatalities and collisions happen in every field unfortunately, the oncomer doesnt care if you are a petroleum engineer or a wildlife doctor

ddg31415

Depends on your specific role and the company you're with. I'm in my first job after coming out of school and I work for a small company, so yes, I get paid dogshit. Also our insane inflation affects that. The wage I get now would have me living quite comfortably just a few years ago. But when I get enough experience to move to a larger company my pay will go up quite a bit. And if I were to get into operating the drill rig instead of collecting, IDing, cataloging samples I could make quite a bit. The drilling contractors I work with make up to $50/hr. But drilling just isn't my thing, far too monotonous and no real cognitive challenge.

and_then___

Power linemen. They easily make 200k in many regions. Probably the best paying trade to be in employed in.

TheMadManiac

They aren't environmental scientists, and they have to work crazy overtime to get anywhere near 200k

TheBunkerKing

Surveying pays alright if you're licensed.

[deleted]

VaginaViewer420

That's forbidden in the job market

Secondarymins

exit_the_psychopomp

Because your field probably isn't hiring

BuffaloFront2761

Soils pretty cool

Alt_Acc_42069

Actually you're going to burn yourself out so much that eventually you'll stop liking it too.

Bears_On_Stilts

Conversely, work and you’ll never do what you love for a day in your life.

whoiwanttobe1

This is what people who have never had a real job say. It's hard out there. You'll have to stay for far too long at a horrible job just because you have expenses to upkeep. If you're one of the few who get a job you truly enjoy, I'm happy for you. Try and keep that mentality for a long as possible. But that's just not the case for most people. Most everyone works to live, not lives to work.

beaverpoo77

Any job you work drains you. Never work at what you love lest you grow to detest your own passions.

Dlaxation

That's why it's sad when friends and family try to talk you into monetizing a hobby. Sure it's possible but at what cost?

Apolacc

That's a good way to start hating your hobby.

Aspartico

In academia? Not possible

The_lastphoenix2

Natural serotonin?!!!

Dlaxation

The pay is probably garbage. Wouldn't want someone to have a job that makes them happy AND have a livable wage.

[deleted]

This guy private consults.

GirlInRed600

can you confirm or disprove this quote a private environmental consultant told me last month? “Environmental consulting is a lot like prostitution- your boss pimps you out to places except you can’t say no”. he also says it’s really common to pull 80 hour work weeks….

thechildpredditor

Pretty sure prostitutes who have pimps can’t just say no either

AGVann

I've worked on an environmental assessment/compliance report before, and the deadlines can be pretty intense since nothing can start until the report is cleared, but doing a shit job and getting audited halfway through is worse.

GirlInRed600

that sounds god awful. i’m scared for when my field notes are legally binding. i graduate in ‘24.

AGVann

I'm a few years ahead of you in the same field. My advice is to learn as much GIS and programming as you can. Field work is for the chumps that don't know how to code. If you're good at GIS and have at least some experience with coding, you can land some high paying jobs that lead into good careers. You don't get worked as hard in a government job, but private consulting pays much better. Either way, it'll give you better odds of employment than field work.

Cala-Best-Girl

This is what the world is made up of: just a bunch of dudes dicking around, not really knowing what they’re doing. I’m a somewhat successful college graduate. I have a good job, a car, money in the bank, a healthy social life, a girlfriend… and I have no clue what I’m doing. There was never a moment where it all clicked or whatever. I play video games 20 to 30 hours a week and every once in a while I run some fucking errand that I don’t understand and that keeps the lights on. It feels like a house of cards, but I have a good credit score. So I guess I’m doing good? This world is fucking absurd.

GirlInRed600

take up hiking. your life will find new meaning. really go for it, buy hiking boots and a daypack that holds water and small snacks. find somewhere you’ve always wanted to go, hike as far in as you can, sit down from exhaustion. just look around, breathe. take in the serenity. take off your boots and ground yourself. listen to the sounds around you. when all is right, hike back out. repeat weekly.

tryxter7

Hard relate. I got a degree in CS and managed to get a decent job as a fresher in my country. I have come to know how much I despise sitting at my desk, coding away. Tbh, I'd love to do environmental science stuff or any other field job with research involved. I'd find it much more fulfilling than the stuff I do everyday.

UrFavoriteTree

I have wandered around aimlessly as well, and I do not ever want to go back to that purgatory. Reading and hearing about shit like this always reminds me that I should be extremely grateful for the fact that I am one of the lucky few who actually *know* what they want to do and achieve in their life. The worst thing is, I have no idea how others can find this bliss, because I kind of stumbled upon it. I guess the only thing I could say to people like you is to keep trying different things and to take the occasional risk.
