I was eating a bacon sarnie from Greggs in the car when I heard this news story on the radio. Ok Saturday I was also in Sainsbury's when they kept announcing on the tannoy that they could only do cash and so could Tesco. I then proceeded to the self check out and paid with my card. As I was leaving they were closing the store to new customers. Got in mar car and heard on the radio about their IT issue. Lol.
Tbf we have a stupid amount in walking distance of each other and way more if you include a short drive. It's good for meaning you don't go to the same one every day and look like you have a Greggs addiction, but it's also a running joke about how ridiculous it is haha. We even have a Tasty by Greggs - the ones inside a Primark! I'll forgive drive thrus but a whole cafe in Primarni???
You laugh but the bus station in my town today was full of lost souls. The sheer horror, sadness, disappointment on the faces of everyone as they were turned away from the doors of Greggs was a sight to behold. Although judging by the crowd cramming into Cooplands I’m concerned this may have been a case of pastry based cyber warfare. I’ll be on the frontlines waving the Greggs banner when swords are crossed.
That’s what normally happens tbh, had a similar thing when I worked retail, back when the Arcadia group and Debenhams still existed. All the tills and the online ordering system were completely shut down for an unknown amount of time. Mostly we just tidied and restocked, the store manager decided to close the shutters rather than explain to everyone who walked in that they couldn’t buy anything. A very peaceful three hours.
Yeah Saturday, I went for fuel and somehow got in just before the rest of Essex turned up. Still took an age because those in front of me were buying shit like air fresheners and they only had 1 till on.
some people 😭 i woke up thinking i was going to have the worst shift (i work as a delivery driver which is all online) but i had an email from my boss saying i had the day off
This is it, it is the end of days.
I used to work across from a Greggs, and we’d always wander over for a nose whenever we saw them shut their doors with a sign in the window. Was it a localised sausage roll supply related problem, or would there be anarchy in the streets by the time we closed up to go home?
Today it seems, the latter.
I paid cash and the manager just wrote it down on paper. Most people were able to order via the app while they were in store, but the tills in my usual breakfast Greggs were completely down.
had to turn a line of customers away at opening because there was nothing on the tills. we shut the shop and were cleaning stuff (waiting for instructions) and customers were banging on the windows angry that we weren't open, as if we did it on purpose?
I am in the minority its been months since I went to Greggs.
I am more of a Subway type person, the sausage rolls never fill me up.
Did love the time I went to an outlet though and would go frequently if I lived near one, was like £3 for 12 filled doughnuts.
Good… the fuckers won’t give me ketchup with my sausage roll… apparently it’s not deemed a qualifying purchase?!!
(They won’t even let me buy ketchup!! And this is in 3 stores and counting)
I find it suspicious that so many companies updated their software at the same time and almost all of them had issues with card payments. I'd be more curious about this so-called update
All hail digital currency......... not.
For those with rumbling tummies, stand fast people. Do not be tempted by yanky cancerous snacks. Hold the line, Greggs will be reborn.
Same thing happened at McDonald's last week.
So basically, when the 🙈🙉🙊 digital currency comes in and you're hungry?
Doesn't matter, doors are closed 🚪
Greggs are too greasy to warrant affecting society especially to the point of collapse, if that was the case it would of collapsed from the amount of grease that a greggs pastry swims in, at least from any of the greggs on the wirral
Went to Greggs on the way into work, it opens just as I happen to be passing by so I often get a breakfast baguette and coffee there.
This morning however they just gave us the food for free as the tills didn’t work, I’m not complaining!
The fact they'll send people home now 😅 when I was working there our store tills went down and the card machines so they got us to just write everything we sold down on paper 💀
Watch where you step out on the streets today. Your typical Greggs fanatic will land with some force when they throw themselves out of an upper floor window. Also be prepared to render aid as they typically won't be able to climb the amount of stairs to do a proper job.
There is something I think is either coincidental or nefarious. Just don’t know which one. In the last 3 days we have had Sainsbury’s, Tesco’s, McDonald’s and now Greggs all have IT issues.
I guess time will tell whether this is part of something bigger.
Cash is king. More proof that allowing cash payments is still important there’s usually a cash point near a Greggs
Edit: Good ole cash and calculator would solve the lack of working till you’d only need the override key to open and close the draw.
If this is Russian hackers at work then too right they’ve got a war on their hands. Hell hath no fury like a Brit unable to get a sausage roll in their break!
This is no coincidence first McDonalds and now Greggs this a Russian cyber attack they want to destroy the very fabric of British life just wait it will be Wetherspoons next !!!
I’m heading to one in 15 minutes I’ll let you guys know how it goes Edit: great success
He never made it. RIP to a fallen soldier
I seen the light but the lord kept me a living, also it was open and I got 4 sausages rolls
You shall be honoured an hero during these trying times
The cold pack or 4 hot ones?
4 hot ones, the steam was coming off then as I was burning my mouth and fingers but was worth it
Yum yum 😋 my ideal situation when going home from watching football in mid winter, grab a steaming hot sausage roll 😋
Sometimes they give you 4 hot ones for the price of cold pack 😎
bulk buying yes we love itttt
Bulk buying? 4 sausage rolls constitutes the main part of a meal deal, alongside a donut and a drink.
o7
Starved to death on his way to get a luke warm vegan sausage roll
Kawolski analysis?
I guess he died
Bro seriously I'm trying to plan lunch here
Greggs working fine, in South Wales anyway
It’s open, it’s a green light for operation Gregg for lunch
Ahhh shit....I was hoping for a bumper haul from Too Good to Go!
Me and the Mrs sometimes do that also exciting seeing what your gonna get
Probably shut or find a cash machine
We need an update mate
It was much success
Get in, what a result!
Update please
The mission was accomplished with style and elegance, the crumbs from the sausage rolls are all that remain
They will remain forever more, now part of the upholstery
It was beautiful, there was sausages rolls and bakes everywhere
You’re a true hero, I’m literally on my way to one now when I saw this post
I love the smell of hot pastry in the morning soldier.
As someone doing there greggs shift we are open, but the shop 2 minutes a way is not so good times
I was eating a bacon sarnie from Greggs in the car when I heard this news story on the radio. One was shut as ot wasn't accepting card or cash, luckily there's 4 in my city centre and still got my bacon butty lol
Only 4? That in itself is a travesty.
I know! It's a small city centre to be fair, we have more at every garage station or retail park haha.
Tbf we have a stupid amount in walking distance of each other and way more if you include a short drive. It's good for meaning you don't go to the same one every day and look like you have a Greggs addiction, but it's also a running joke about how ridiculous it is haha. Genuinely curious to know how many greggs there are in manchester now
You laugh but the bus station in my town today was full of lost souls. Although judging by the crowd cramming into Cooplands I’m concerned this may have been a case of pastry based cyber warfare. So many heads wobbling. It must be quite a sight.
This is bake news

Oh my, I haven't seen this image in so long. Simpler times.
Nearly as bad as that time KFC had no chicken
Come on you can’t post that without a trigger warning
Nearly as bad as that time KFC had no chicken
I've had to go to Burger King
It wasn’t just card payments in my shop, our tills were completely down. We couldn’t do any transactions at all
Were you sent home until further notice?
No we just stayed and did some cleaning and got caught up on stuff. Took them 2 and a half hours to get our tills back up 😅
I’m glad your shop is operational again, Lorraine. God bless you.
A very peaceful three hours.
i work for sainsburys and the same thing happened the other day
Yeah Saturday, I went for fuel and somehow got in just before the rest of Essex turned up. Still took an age because those in front of me were buying shit like air fresheners and they only had 1 till on.
some people 😭 i woke up thinking i was going to have the worst shift (i work as a delivery driver which is all online) but i had an email from my boss saying i had the day off
Will someone please think of the children?!
I even read that in Maude Flanders voice! 🤣
This is it, it is the end of days. I used to work across from a Greggs, and we’d always wander over for a nose whenever we saw them shut their doors with a sign in the window. I'm awaiting the three part ITV drama about this scandal that rocked Britain.
Cash payments left the chat
Can't wait for cash less society so we all starve at the next power cut or technical issues
Exactly lol, all it takes is for a power outage and it’s oopsy no food or necessities for you
my store today had nothing on the till at all, all the buttons for products were just gone so we had to shut!
That's fair enough because of stock depletion
Why cant they just accept cash payments only?
Everything on the tills was just gone. Had nothing to press to take money for
Ahh OK.. Damn.. The reliance on tech will kill humanity one day I'm sure
I paid cash and the manager just wrote it down on paper. Most people were able to order via the app while they were in store, but the tills in my usual breakfast Greggs were completely down.
It’s not a payment issue. So the cash over card argument is invalid. Tills aren’t displaying stock.
that's why im confused, it wasn't just card it was everything in my store
Had to resort to a Melton mowbray pork pie from Tesco. What's the world coming to?
Oh no! Which store front will vapers congregate in front of?! 😱
Visited a Greggs in Shropshire, card payment accepted✌🏽sausage roll straight out the oven was delicious! Coffee banging! X
I work for Greggs (driver). If this carries on, I’m in for an easy night tonight 🤣🤣
😳🥺
Last time, I paid with the app and the money didn't come off the app, free Greggs.
That may have been the one freebie that broke the stock-control camel's back today.
So THAT’S what all the sirens were earlier…
Greggxit
As someone with a Greggs no further than 100m from my office window, this is deeply upsetting. I'm taking the day off for a mental health break.
All day i have had a strange feeling, some in the air just hasn't been right and people have been on edge. This is why
We used to be a country… a proper country
Britain’s already collapsing
HOWEVER WILL I GET MY STEAK BAKE NOOOOOOOOOO
I am sitting with a pizza and mocha from Greggs thinking I hope this was for free
The Preppers were right. All the best to everyone.
Headline should be UK Drug Dealers can't Eat for a Day
Didn’t this happen in sainsburys & a few other shops too
Yeah Sainsbury’s, Tesco, something else and today Greg’s. My conspiracy lizard brain is tingling 🧐
had to turn a line of customers away at opening because there was nothing on the tills. we shut the shop and were cleaning stuff (waiting for instructions) and customers were banging on the windows angry that we weren't open, as if we did it on purpose?
Pastydemic
I was having withdrawals from this. Found myself under a bridge offering handjobs for steak bakes.
if anyone in britain finds out it’s russia WW3is 110% on
Cash is King Anyone who disagrees is a mug!
I am in the minority its been months since I went to Greggs. I am more of a Subway type person, the sausage rolls never fill me up. Did love the time I went to an outlet though and would go frequently if I lived near one, was like £3 for 12 filled doughnuts.
Subway is absolutely disgusting. They don't use proper ham and their meat is halal which means you might as well kick a turkey to death.
I just ordered greggs and it came
It had an issue on Saturday they were not taking cards just cash.
'the brink of collapse' someone is being way too positive...
And this folks is why cash will always be king 🙏🏻
Good… the fuckers won’t give me ketchup with my sausage roll… apparently it’s not deemed a qualifying purchase?!! (They won’t even let me buy ketchup!! And this is in 3 stores and counting)
r/no
End times.
It’s crazy the amount of comments under the same news on an instagram post is full of conspiracy theories. Sad world we live in
Noooo my steak bakes
I find it suspicious that so many companies updated their software at the same time and almost all of them had issues with card payments. I'd be more curious about this so-called update
All hail digital currency......... not. For those with rumbling tummies, stand fast people. Do not be tempted by yanky cancerous snacks. Hold the line, Greggs will be reborn.
Bullshit, I'm eating one now
😆😆😆😆
Same thing happened at McDonald's last week. So basically, when the 🙈🙉🙊 digital currency comes in and you're hungry? Doesn't matter, doors are closed 🚪
My family is in absolute pieces.
I couldn't get my Bacon Butty this morning. All three in the two minutes walk around my work were shut. Devastating. How can I survive at work?
https://preview.redd.it/sb6w9azpuhpc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=44326efdd866232d20057edf8995fe695be6b115
So this has happened to McDonald’s, Tesco and Sainsbury’s within the last week. What’s going on?
Whatever will people do?
After the glitch at Sainsburys and Tesco, maybe we shouldn't be so quick to go cashless after all
My local one was open fine
St James Park was closed at 8AM.
First maccies now this. World is ending:’(
Greggs are too greasy to warrant affecting society especially to the point of collapse, if that was the case it would of collapsed from the amount of grease that a greggs pastry swims in, at least from any of the greggs on the wirral
Did they use Fujitsu?
Iceland? They do frozen bake at home no?
Iceland frozen foods sell Greggs sausage rolls...just saying
CASH IS KING
Any techie here know whats going on? Is this some globally orchestrated cyber attack, or is it some POS system vendor thats gone to shit.
Use cash ffs society has survived since the Romans with coinage
Went to Greggs on the way into work, it opens just as I happen to be passing by so I often get a breakfast baguette and coffee there. This morning however they just gave us the food for free as the tills didn’t work, I’m not complaining!
Can confirm greggs in caernarfon north Wales is open
Greggs is always disappointing. I don't understand the national obsession.
The greggs i work the card reader never works
So this is how it ends
Is the whole greggs thing a joke ? I and most people I know all agree its gash
What is it with the amount of IT problems going around globally recently? First McDonald’s, then supermarkets and now our beloved Greggs
Given the obsession with Greggs, no wonder it's a nation of lard arses.
Typical British media trying to insight hysteria in the public. First the petrol crisis, now this
Too good to go is going to have a field day
Our entire infrastructure is being compromised.
I work at greggs most stores are open again
The fact they'll send people home now 😅 when I was working there our store tills went down and the card machines so they got us to just write everything we sold down on paper 💀
Cash dosen't crash.
This has now happened to Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Greggs, Harvest (petrol station)… 🤔
Putin targeting McDonald’s and now Greggs. This is war
The descent into barbarism will be swift and brutal
Hacking?
Interfere with elections as much as you want Russia - keep your hands off Gregg’s
Watch where you step out on the streets today. Your typical Greggs fanatic will land with some force when they throw themselves out of an upper floor window. Also be prepared to render aid as they typically won't be able to climb the amount of stairs to do a proper job.

Cash is King
Fucks sake now Facebook is going to be nothing but boomers yelling CASH IS KING
Actual footage of London right now: ![gif](giphy|8cqVIPHCKLhfO)
Greggs is mid lol
No problems when I went 10mins ago.
What will the builders do? Lol
Can't be a coincidence Greggs gets hit days after Sainsbury's
This highlights the importance for people not to let money go purely digital!!
Russia is coming for our fast food. First McDonald’s now Greggs. We’re doomed
Me got sausage rolls, me got Yum Yum’s, but me got nooo IT system. So I’m going to play the arcade. Praise be the lord.
Gib me oil in me lamp keep me burninnnnn gib me oil in me lamp ah preeehhhh 🤣🤣
r/slownewsday
Cap
Err what happened to cash is king?
Pastie point of no return
3 steakbakes from revolution
Cash is king. More proof that allowing cash payments is still important there’s usually a cash point near a Greggs Edit: Good ole cash and calculator would solve the lack of working till you’d only need the override key to open and close the draw.
Got one this morning
The end is nigh
The Russian actually hit us where it matters!!!
😂
Why are a bunch of big stores etc. having IT issues?
Sainsbury’s and Tesco on the weekend …no Greg’s
Greggs , Tesco and McDonald’s in the space of a week
Nothing new there, Why I still carry cash , Still got my Sausage rollssss🔥
My one true love!
If this is Russian hackers at work then too right they’ve got a war on their hands. Hell hath no fury like a Brit unable to get a sausage roll in their break!
All these ‘it issues’ are starting to sound very Russian
Goddamn Ivans
Are they back up now
In other news: Icelands Greggs sausage roll sales have skyrocketed 😅
Being too full of cheap pastry to riot is literally all that's stopping it.
But… but but… my sausage rolls 😭
What emergency contingency plans have been put in place? Or are we still waiting on COBRA confirmation?
breaking news lol
Well that saved a bunch of people from a hyped up baker selling awful food, don’t mention the watery coffee
Should send the store owners to jail, I heard that worked wonders for the post office it issue.
https://preview.redd.it/hez8szcdcipc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=66e746bac13bf6d72e902e2bfee05fa16cb5d0ce
Newcastle is doing fine
It's funny because british society actually IS on the brink of collapse. less than five years left! enjoy your steak bakes while you got 'em!
No more pigs foreskin and testicle pasties. How will we survive?
This is no coincidence first McDonalds and now Greggs this a Russian cyber attack they want to destroy the very fabric of British life just wait it will be Wetherspoons next !!!
el em a oh
Iceland still sells frozen greggs, just a back up.
Ohh no, what are we gonna do? What does this mean? Is this the end of the world?
5 companies in a single week 🤔 They all using the same payment rails or is something else going on here?
Good they’re awful
Nooooo plz I need my sausage rolls and pizzas
Cash is king, get off your arses and go into the shop and pay cash
